As someone who went to high school in East Texas, where football is life. Watching this show, made me feel like I was transported back to MY high school days. Great and authentic show 💙💛
Incredibly emotional experience for me. As an injured athlete, a coach, a father, a human being. I'd never watched it until about a month ago. Brought back so many thoughts and memories, both good and bad. I'm guessing this is the "real" others mention. Real in so many ways. Thank you so much to those that brought this to us.

I love in the second to last episode of the series the scene when everyone in Dillon is standing outside city hall waiting to hear which football team gets cut and this song comes on and then they announce it and coach and vince have a heart-to-heart. The slow sad version.

Can't believe it. Most beautiful show in the world. Its about real people, with real issues and which affect us all. This show should have been more popular and known! I feel so sad that it finished but so happy how it finished, it finished perfectly...everything for once seemed to be perfect and life was good. Taught me too many lesson. Love FNL!
What an amazing show in every way. The acting, the actors, the writing, the cinemetography, and the way it all was so sincere. If you get tears in your eyes watching, it's not because of some contrived bs. Also, I'm gonna need Coach and Tammy to adopt me.
This show had so many changes and yet still kept its heart. The episode with Saracens dads death just kills me each time I watch it.
literally the only show I've ever started watching again right after just finishing it for the first time. I think there were shows I liked more overall(like the sopranos), but for whatever reason I had no interest in rewatching the show right after my initial go through. Fuck I love that show so much. Never even played football or lived in a small town either.

In terms of writing and acting, no. Nothing is on Breaking Bad's level. But the connection with the characters on this show is second to none. When you finish the series you feel like part of you has been taken, like you're leaving friends you'll never see again. Sounds corny. But that's how it is.
Just watched the entire series for the past month or so. I had seen a fair amount of it on and off when it aired, but not every season or episode. Have to say this is likely my favorite TV show ever. Breaking Bad. Entourage. Party of Five. Cheers. Friends. All different and in no particular order.

While I think Cranston's role as Walt on Breaking Bad is one of the all time greats, I agree with you. Chandler was simply phenomenal as Coach Taylor.
I think Acting wise, Kyle Chandler is almost up there with Cranston, I may get some Backlash for saying that but that's just how I felt.

That season one team was pretty sick, even though Jason got hurt. Riggs and Smash werent even seniors then but were still beasts
They should've never stopped this series. I have watched the series multiple times now.. It could've been really good showing the new Dillion Panthers and Coach Taylor as a college coach.

It shocks me that this was on a network, the quality of this show is reserved for cable and pay channels. Yeah, think this has to go into my queue of shows to watch after The Wire and Deadwood

@steelers924life the movie is based on an actual season that the Odessa Permian Panthers played/lived, the show is it's own i.p. borrowing the team mascot. all the situations and characters are different. :)

One time in English we had an assignment and it was to write a story in 6 words I wrote “Julie Taylor, will you marry me” half of the other football kids wrote that or some other Friday night lights line. I think we could write less than 6 words and I believe the other half wrote “Texas forever” or something to do with Billy Riggins
another was "Clear eyes, full hearts, cant lose" I think most of that class wrote that. Then again this was about 10 years ago

sometimes a playing with words and tikas transforms a reality of one place into a disallusion of another one. even changing one or some letters in for example dewill by a will of somebody not a body, might transform friday night lights into a sort of a lived devil town kindly and smillingly playing with the children of universes and spaces. What can children do in such circumstances? Reflections even the strongest ones are not living lifes and the energies of their true own ones.

If you live in small town America, you live in Devil Town. It's Friday night, the fans are out, the streets are empty, and the lights are on. It's all about football here in Holden, Missouri-- just like it is everywhere else. We all don't have a Buddy Garrity, but we scrape by with what we have and love the game and play as hard as we can. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!

You also have to keep in mind that The Lions were probably only a 2A or 3A school and those unfortunately don't get looked at as much as the 4A/5A schools. Luke definitely deserved better than a D3 scholarship though, but they had to be realistic - sometimes it just happens that way :(
