The books is all about ambition, greed and hate leading to the destruction of the Targaryens at their peak. All this prophecy thing is for the show. So the showrunners can make it seem like Rhaenyra has a divine purpose for being Queen. Y'all remember she also saw the white stag in season 1. You notice how the conservative and religious character in Alicent was made to turn on her children and seems to love Rhaenyra more than them? The showrunners had to humiliate her for supporting the patriarchy lol. Even though Rhaenys, Rhaenyra and Alicent all benefit from this system. They are all elitists. Rhaenyra believes in Targaryen supremacy, not democracy. She is not trying to be equal with other lowly women in that society.
The writers are also very biased against daemon for whatever reason. In the book, there was never any doubt his loyalty for his family (dude built an army to go against corlys in the name of viserys being king) and there was no ossue with him getting the Riverlands to march with him. They ruined GRRM favorite targaryen.
The only grace I would give the showrunners and writers for season 2 was that there was a writer's strike and it's also obvious that HBO cut down 2 additional episodes for financial reasons. Which is strange as this is meant to be their biggest and most profitable franchise. That's one of the reasons why this season was so weirdly paced.
Wonder if HBO got some new management stingy with money cos apparently they ordered the show runners last minute to make the season 8 episodes instead of 10 and they had no time due to the writers strike to course correct.

Excellent post, completely agree, very biased writing it seems, hopfully they improve and see their bias but highly doubt it.
