    Hello Lily! These colours are gorgeous indeed. I adore earth colours…
    The bird is a Cetti’s warbler (at least Merlin bird ID says so). Such a beautiful sound! I absolutely adore birds! We have many birds visiting the feeder here and many more visiting the garden looking for insects on the plants and on the ground. They are a source of great joy to me! Have a lovely weekend!

      Oh my goodness, thank you so much for letting me know which kind of bird the bird song was from! ❤️ I feel so blessed to be able to listen to them while I work 🥰. I agree with you, they are indeed a great source of joy! Have a wonderful weekend too! xoxo

    Your videos are so calming and well done, they have quickly become my go to for when I need to decompress and enjoy something in a very pure sort of way. Your art gives me a lot of the same vibes as the Beatrix Potter stories I used to read as a child, and you are incredibly talented. I joined your Patreon recently to help support, and I always look forward to anything you put up. Thank you so much for spending your time and creativity with all of us.
    Also, I would love a video about the Mineral Museum!

    I definitely have to check out Lunar Earth! I have Lunar Red Rock but mine is much richer and darker than the one you swatched here? I also adore earth colours! If you haven't tried the QOR earth colours, you should. :)

    • @lilymoonart
      @lilymoonart  ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I used too much water with the Lunar Red Rock? Or, which is also likely, lots of binder accumulated to the top of the tube as I haven't used paint from the tube in a long while? Lunar Earth has a beautiful granulation, I am sure you'll enjoy it ☺️. I had no idea that QOR had a really lovely earth colour range...off to to check them out, thank you!❤️

    Lovely swatching, thanks! One quibble is that Lunar Red Rock is much darker in masstone, maybe too much water here? It's similar to Indian Red, just more transparent and granulating. It's a recent purchase for me and I'm having tons of fun playing with it. Enjoyed your bird friends!

    You’re very sweet, and I really hope you don’t feel bad! We’re all human and in the grand scheme of things that was such a minuscule detail! You’re videos are lovely and I’m looking forward to the next one! 😊 Am currently watching this one on repeat. I really needed calm (and the bird!) 😅 I also really love the PBr25! Daniel Smith’s is a bit shiny in masstone, a pet peeve of mine, so I’m gonna explore options. I got one from Rosa Gallery that I’m gonna try. And the Daniel Smith Transparent Red Oxide is so nice, but I think I might have fallen in love with the QoR one! I tend to love QoR paints, I’ve noticed. It’s just as intense and high tinting, but slightly less granular in mixes, so far. I’m digging it! 😄

    very interessting ...
    your earthy colors are all very warm - more on the yellowish- or redish-side and that is very useful with different blue´s to get mixtures that are much more cooler if you need ...
    I´m thinking, that I don´t need so much different colors, because I pick up mostly per watercolor work only two, or three for a limited palette to geht a harmonicly result at the end. this is my way to learn more about the different pigments and I have a lot of fun with my color mixing experiments, also if I´m not a big artist ...
    atm I try out supergranulating colors from "white nights". I have a 12 color palette and all the 12 colors looks also very dark - near black in the pan. every color is very spezial on his own wise and I can create awesome pictures with them. some times it is a little bit funny if I go with the brush in the wrong color, because all 12 looks so dark O.o
    and on the paper with enough water you can see all the colorful granulating pigments in action :)
    I need a little bit more practice with these very highly pigmented colors in a finest artists quality ...

  • @AmazinGraceXOXO1
    @AmazinGraceXOXO1 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use a fine point sharpie and write the name of the colors and brand at the bottom and side of my pans the moment I transfer them. Maybe try doing that? That might help you in the future if they get mixed up again.

  • @EugeniaLoli

    Unfair swatching for the Lunar Red Rock! I believe you used much more water for it than for the rest, so it came out too light. Lunar Red Rock is almost as strong as Indian Red normally.

    When I heard the songbird I thought it was outside my window not yours, lol. I live in a 7 story apartment building so all I hear are cooing pigeons, screeching seagulls and crows. Seeing the actual mineral rocks that the pigments are made from would be a real treat. Sooo ... I guess we won’t be seeing any swatching videos for metallic colours any time soon 😅. I like looking at the metallic colours in their pans, but would only use the golds & silvers on holiday themed illustrations. It will be lovely to see the red & yellow swatching videos. Take care Lily.

    I'm also not a fan of metallics.. But I LOVE my DS Amethyst! I just put Bronzite on my list for next month! Can you suggest some more w natural shimmer?
    I AM confused and wondering if I got an off batch of Lunar Earth.. Mine looks more like a Quin Gold, just a touch of orange-red in mass tone. Strange!
    Also-I became so enthralled w Rosa Gallery mono-pigments-i got the set of 21-last week I ordered every other single pigment they have. They only have 2 ingredients pigment & gum arabic; making them ideal for mixing and for my "experiment", adding a Chinese binder, mingjiao (fish glue, made from bones & no it doesn't smell😂), to use it on xuan paper.
    Anyways: PBr25 RG is similar but less "red" than DS's... Or maybe it's my failing eyesight. 😊 Kimberly C had suggested it for mixing, but I'm finding it very overwhelming.. And it's probably the one RG pigment I'm not impressed with. I can certainly see some uses for it; but would likely choose one of my PBr7's. I AM going to play with it, along with some others tonight to try and mix a sepia tone my daughter wants. I'm sending her some paint and arches that I tore with decked edges. She asked me to "antique" the edges and had very specific "requirements" for her "sepia". Like mother, like daughter. 🤷🏼‍♀️😊
    After seeing this and your greens video.. So much for not buying more paint next month🤷🏼‍♀️😂

    I'm sorry i know tgis video is old- but I'm looking for a more reddish pr101/102. I'm stuck between the fired gold ochre and DS burnt yellow ochre. Do you think one of those would work better? I was avoiding transparent red oxide becaause I already have yellow ochre, MANS, and scarlet- i was really looking for a less orange leaning one. I'm not sure if that makes sense but thank you for the video!!

    You’re not on your own I’m not a fan of metallic watercolours either. I occasionally use a little bit of gold but I just don’t have to use for them in the kind of work I want to do even in mix media I don’t use metallics I really admire some work where people use them, but I just don’t enjoy it personally either.
