Saw Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse a few weeks ago. I was completely blown away by it, loved it so much. Not only is it one the best superhero movies I've seen, but it's also in my top 10 animated movies. It's just that good.
Who would have thought that the same studio that made one of the absolute worst movies imaginable with The Emoji Movie, would also make one of the best animated films recently with Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse? If Sony keeps making better decisions like that, then they wouldn't be as laughable as they are right now.

I disagree on the Raimi movies, I really love the first two and I rewatched them before seeing Spider-Verse and they still hold up, they were immediately topped by Spider-Verse but they're still great movies.
All the camp was really charming and funny, they felt like an early Spider-Man comic in the best possible way. I’d still say that sm2 edges it out, but it’s still top three material when it comes to Spider-Man movies.

The play it’s based on is actually by the late Peter Shaffer. It’s also called Amadeus, and was written in the late 70s. And, yeah, the rivalry is largely fiction, but there is a surprising amount of historical accuracy with other small moments. Shaffer also wrote a play called Equus which has a film adaptation with Richard Burton in it. It’s not as good as Amadeus, but it’s a fascinating watch.

Either movies can be ranked in a strict numerical order, and comparing scores is totally valid, or they can't and they're no point in assigning them a number in the first place. Incidentally I think Jeremy Jahns does this the best, since his scores describe how he feels about the movie (awesome/good when drunk/forgettable/dogsh*t).
They're standardised relative to each other. For example, if Adum had given Black Panther the same score as Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, he'd be saying they're of equal quality.
I recommend you to watch History Buffs review of Amadeus. Even Nostalga Critic's editorial on Amadeus gives good insight on the film's historical basis.

It's a feeling I think all creators can relate to... being incredibly hard working but just not talented enough to reach the level we want. It's a wonderful life, to me, is just one of those movies that only happens to take place during Christmas, like Gremlins, Die Hard, etc. The themes and morals have nothing to do with Christmas, and it's not a movie I can really watch every year. I love this movie. We had it on vhs, and I've loved it since the first time I saw it, probably around 5 yrs old. I watch it periodically in my life and I think Ralph is right for once. 10/10, I don't think we will ever get another alternate history piece like this maybe ever.

His colour grading especially has always been bad, and I personally believe that's the REAL reason he made Lover black and white instead of different colour pallets for each season. The sound design was also awful, with characters barely being audible or flubbing their lines. And then there's the "VFX" where when he shoots the gun, all he did was increase the screen brightness by 2% and didn't even add a muzzle flare or smoke from the barrel, which is something you can learn to do in 2 minutes for FREE.
I'm so glad that you guys watched the spiderverse movie! It was excellent in my opinion and I feel that most of the criticisms that you guys had were fair. I really hope you guys appreciate the animation that came with the story because I personally do not think that this movie ever could have worked as a live action movie. The styles of each character had to be conveyed through animation because any other medium would've have made all the cast jarring to look at and wouldn't have clearly separated them as individual characters. I also think that the animation was used seriously as a tool for the story. Live action is grounded in reality and can only convey so many concepts but animation is almost limitless on what it can convey. The animation, in my opinion, wasn't just a "cherry on top" or a compliment to the writing, I think it is the reason the movie was successful in the first place! It gave the movie style and it gave the movie personality. It helped with the tone of the movie and it helped convey the emotions of the characters. Animation is usually directed to kids but this movie shows the potential of animation to convey a story that live action could only dream of doing. Hopefully one-day people seriously consider animation as a legitimate medium to use to tell a captivating and engaging story.

Oh, Ralph. A Christmas Story isn't really all that "cutesy", it actually has a dark undertone. I remember there was a time you could mention this movie to people and they either had never heard of it or didn't like it because it was "too mean-spirited", usually referring to the meeting Santa sequence with surly elves, a cynical grumpy Santa and how everything looks terrifying to the children. I love when the camera pulls out and it all looks wonderful from a distance (adult's view). I can sort of see it becoming annoying once the film exploded into popularity, with the 24 hour marathons and excessive marketing of products related to the film, but I still love it.
I found it funny how Adam talked about how Amadeus was so musically accurate and then Ralph talking about Mozart himself, because (not really) little known fact, but almost nothing that is in this film about Mozart is historically accurate. It's mostly made up and dramatized: Mozarts wasnt a drunken debauched idiot and Salieri wasnt a jealous scheeming dude with an inferiority complex. He was a bit childish though he was sort of his era's Micheal Jackson in a way ridiculously talented but somewhat eccentric. The thing is it's Saleri's perspective on Mozart playing up all his flaws.
In regards to Amadeus, many people think that Salieri was trying to achieve the fame that Mozart had, but in fact the movie shows that Antonio Salieri was a very famous composer at the time. What tore Salieri apart was the fact that he was one of few to truly understand the genius that Mozart was. To put it simply, Salieri wasn't jealous of Mozart's fame, but rather his talent.
The only movie I've ever - EVER - walked out on was Pacific Rim: Uprising. Right when they killed off the only person in the film me and my girlfriend cared about, she said, "I hate this fucking movie. I don't even want to watch it." I just said, "Well, I've never walked out before, and I don't need to know how this ends."

Oh, Ralph. A Christmas Story isn't really all that "cutesy", it actually has a dark undertone. I remember there was a time you could mention this movie to people and they either had never heard of it or didn't like it because it was "too mean-spirited", usually referring to the meeting Santa sequence with surly elves, a cynical grumpy Santa and how everything looks terrifying to the children. I love when the camera pulls out and it all looks wonderful from a distance (adult's view). I can sort of see it becoming annoying once the film exploded into popularity, with the 24 hour marathons and excessive marketing of products related to the film, but I still love it.
Really enjoyed the fact you could be honest with eachother about Ralphs film, both good and bad. It was constructive and interesting!

I found it funny how Adam talked about how Amadeus was so musically accurate and then Ralph talking about Mozart himself, because (not really) little known fact, but almost nothing that is in this film about Mozart is historically accurate.
It's mostly made up and dramatized: Mozarts wasnt a drunken debauched idiot and Salieri wasnt a jealous scheeming dude with an inferiority complex.

He was a bit childish though he was sort of his era's Micheal Jackson in a way ridiculously talented but somewhat eccentric. The thing is it's Saleri's perspective on Mozart playing up all his flaws.

In regards to Amadeus, many people think that Salieri was trying to achieve the fame that Mozart had, but in fact the movie shows that Antonio Salieri was a very famous composer at the time. What tore Salieri apart was the fact that he was one of few to truly understand the genius that Mozart was. To put it simply, Salieri wasn't jealous of Mozart's fame, but rather his talent.
Amadeus is hands down one of the greatest pieces of film.. it's so damn good 😂

Amadeus has been my favorite film since I was a kid
The only movie I've ever - EVER - walked out on was Pacific Rim: Uprising. Right when they killed off the only person in the film me and my girlfriend cared about, she said, "I hate this fucking movie. I don't even want to watch it." I just said, "Well, I've never walked out before, and I don't need to know how this ends."

Ya I totally agree with u but I can say that a 6 may mean something else where u come from. For example, growing up a 7.5/10 would be average not a 6 and in some other places a 5 would be average
That's literally not what the actual complaint was but ok.
@@Guch123 That doesn't make sense though. 5 is always average on a 1-10 scale. What is the point of all the other numbers below 5 when 7.5 is average? You are leaving more room for something to be bad than good if you center a 10 scale on a number that isn't actually in the middle.
