  • This automatic gate without the use of electric power allows to open the barrier only for vehicles and to close for the cattle.
    Green traverses act as OPEN buttons.
    Red traverses act as CLOSE buttons.
    When a car enters the gate, its front wheels press down front green traverse and raise the barrier via pink shaft and red bar. The barrier is kept at raising position and both green traverses are kept at down positions thanks to slotted disk fixed to the pink shaft and yellow sliding pawl.
    When the front wheels press down the second red traverse, orange face cam pulls green rod, pushes up the yellow pawl and releases the pink slotted disk. Then the barrier turns down due to the gravity to close the gate.
    When the gate is at close position, the down motion of the red traverses does not affect the barrier at all. It only raises the yellow pawl a little innocuously.
    For a car going in reverse direction the process will happen in the same way.
    It’s possible to lock the gate by adding a locking device (not shown). The device sliders will move to space under the green traverses to prevent them from going down, when the lock is needed.
    This video aims to give an alternative design for the gate shown at

    Very nice. Now, you just need to add a combination lock for access control :)

    Very nice mechanical idea

    Intriguing system, but I'd think the torsion in the bar that keeps the gate open would mess things up fast.

      Mahj I disagree just because long gates that open in this fashion are generally weighted on the small lever arm side (which you can see on the right side in this video) in such a way that it actually takes very little force to open them. They use gravity to their advantage.

      add a sign that prohibits those or add more space between the red and green "buttons"

    is it depend of car's distance?

    • @thang010146
      @thang010146  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Distances between the traverses (in green and red) are chosen based on distance between front and rear wheels of the car.
