    This is the best presentation for ending the drug war that I have seen. This conservative, religious, war drug supporter looked at the data and had real-world experience with the effects of the drug war and changed her mind. You can too. Please open your hearts and minds and support the decriminalization of all drugs.

      It also Takes an intelligent person to use logic and evidence in a way that changes a person's emotions because we as humans make decisions emotionally and justify them with logic. Sadly yes most will and that's WE will be there to educate them. Ignorance spreads ignorance and knowledge spreads enlightenment.

      If you know people struggling with addiction the best thing you can do is acknowledge they are struggling with mental health issues that lead them to where they are and encourage them to get help by being the judgement free support system they desperately need and if you have friends or family struggling with how to deal with a loved one fallen victim to the addiction cycle please remind them that it is a mental health issue that is being untreated and help them gather the appropriate resources to be the best possible system of support compassion and guidance that the person who is struggling will need most in order to survive. Even though I’m just a humble stranger I genuinely appreciate you for wanting to impact positive change 💗

They've put me on anti-depressants, anti-anxiolitics, everything under the sun for anxiety disorders over the last ten years and the side effects aren't worth the risk. I'm glad that marijuana legalization is spreading and that people are waking up. Hopefully my state is next

    All excellent points.
    America's reliance on illicit drugs also outsources human suffering to those in drug producing countries (ie violence in mexican cartel regions, forced/unsafe labor in amazon coca production areas). Furthermore, our absurd and draconian laws contribute to widespread ecological destruction in these areas of production.
    Thank you for discussing the war on drugs. You have many great points. Sometimes I feel as if it is often glossed over, but it is a critically important topic.

    I’m disappointed that she only mentioned the trauma drug addiction causes and didn’t really touch on the fact that the addiction itself almost always stems from experienced trauma/abuse which develops into mental illness that is often untreated due to poverty and lack of available resources or conservative leaning surroundings that highly trivialize such delicate issues inevitably leading to the usage itself becoming a way to self medicate often as an alternative to ending their life but I do both acknowledge and understand that isn’t part of her individual journey and I’m certainly grateful for what she has made the effort to learn and share with others though ultimately the failure of the war on drugs goes hand in hand with the lack of effort being placed into public mental healthcare and the advocacy of its importance in every person’s daily life regardless of their upbringing or background or lifestyle and hopefully as time passes these two issues will become more bonded in conversation.

    • @drublod530

      This is true but where I disagree with you is the part of wanting to end their life. Most people in the position you describe are not trying to end their life. Most are only seeking some form of joy and relief from the environment they were born into which you are able to take for granted not living in their shoes. Therefore not desiring to take drugs yourself.

I live in Mexico and I was a kid around 2006 when our president put all the efforts against drug dealers and consumers and now everything Is worst and it's so hard to see how all this cartels take control on everything, we try to do our best everyday but we fear when we go out because somebody can kill us!!!all this real criminals are around us

    9:00 68 million dollars a year is cost for someone, but someone else is taking a profit margin on this. And that person has a massive interest to not listen to your "stop drug war" logic, it's their business for gods sake, you're trying to put honest working americans out of business (of prohibiting drugs and profiting from having more prisoners).

    The decriminalization of drug sales and use doesn't make it less of a crime, all it does is give more people access and permission to engage. Self=medicating with potent substances is a Pandora's Box of hurt waiting to expose. Should be good business however for the psychiatric and medical professions as more and people go psychotic for the high.

      Hmmm what’s your solution Ken ? I guess your for further trauma to those who were traumatized most of their lives as children and then carry this into adulthood never understanding why they want to self-medicate. Street drugs are more dangerous and incarceration is more expensive!

    • @nexstory
      @nexstory 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karlasimmet8777 The trauma is real and unless it is seriously addressed, self-medication is one way to ease the pain. Another way is through religion, meditation, sports or some personal growth community or meetup group where folks share a common social or vocational interest. I would have no issue with drugs or alcohol or whatever if after the experience wore off, everything, health-wise and emotionally was the same as before. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and having been there and done that, it gets pretty dark down in the rabbit hole. Prison for many is where heavy drugs and bad decisions usually lead. This is not to say that drugs as medication are a bad thing. This is where therapy and a good support system kicks in. Wishing you the best on the journey.

    • @drublod530
      @drublod530 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nexstory And even more dangerous, Is the trauma real? Or is the trauma a result in decades of brain washing America that drugs are bad and harmful. Define trauma. According to who? Or is the trauma (hear me out on this and think about it) the results of people like you who chose not to use drugs, constantly pushing your own personal moral beliefs on to another. It’s not your body and you have no right to decide what another person puts into their body’s. Let me ask you this, if you were against abortion, should you have a say in jailing women who chose an abortion. It’s not your body but your own moral beliefs you should keep to yourself and focus on your own instead of other people.
