Enjoy your flosstubes very rmuch. The colours in those Scarlett Letter samplers are divine. And a book to refer to, is always a pleasure. Keep stitching. Cheers.
Great to see another flosstube up. Thank you for showing all those beautiful patterns. I would love to have another book to join the one I have. Beautiful new hutch.
A resource book is always something to add to your library. Enjoyed your post. I am new to TH-cam and finding it fun but so many to choose from to find the ones to fit your own style. Too much of a good thing! We celebrate Veterans day in our family so happy day to you as well!
I am so glad to have you back in your kitchen. You seem so much more comfortable. The book looks very useful and I would love to add it to my collection. Thank you. Faith L.
Great to see you again, Rachel. I know what you mean about having the house to yourself. Precious moments!!! Enjoyed your parade of samplers and love the book on architectural houses!
Great to see you again. I love your new hutch, the colour is perfect. Enjoyed listening to you talk about the sampler book and seeing the corresponding charts. Looking forward to seeing you again in two weeks or so.
Your stitching is lovely and very inspiring. Thanks for showing the sampler books that are available to purchase. The sampler book on architecture looks very interesting.
Hi Rachel ! So happy that you’re back! First off please thank your dad and brother for their service to our country! Your dad sounds like a truly amazing man! My son is a Marine. He’s out now but he’s very much still a Marine. I’m all over the place with my stitching projects. I’m kinda over fall stitching. Love seeing your touches of Christmas. I’m getting the itch! I purchased the Loara Standish Sampler from The Examplery quite awhile back. Have I started it? No. But I wanted it because it’s the first American sampler. Also she did reverse stitching and I’ve not done that before. Well enough. I could ramble on and on! Glad your back!
Working on Red Bird Sampler on your Petosky Stone, 28 count. This is my first time stitching on yours and I am loving it. Will definitely be purchasing more. And for anyone wondering… I am using all the called for colors and they look great! Book
I love the new green cabinet behind you - so pretty. The pewter looks awesome in it. Would love to peruse the architect book and, once again, you are enabling me with must have samplers. I must remind myself that Comparison is the thief of joy. Of course, I don’t think that counts for cross stitch collecting! Have a nice, relaxing weekend!
Love the cabinet and your pewter! The book looks interesting. I saw Susan talk about it. I love old houses and how so many people are saving them. I know I won’t have the patience for that but I can stitch the houses!
I always look forward to your videos, love them on the floor or in your kitchen, its all good to me. The architecture from early samplers is a lovely book.
Happy to see you and love the new hutch! Enjoyed as always seeing all of the projects and your patterns in your stash. I'm going to have to add more books on samplers to me collection.
The architecture book is very neat. Love samplers and it would be a great reference with the charts as a special bonus. I do love Susan's videos with all the historical information.
Happy Veterans Day to you Rachel. We have Rememberance Day here, same thing, lots of red poppies on display out the front of war memorials and Returned Servicemen Clubs. Love so many of the Scarlet Letter charts so a book written by Madame Scarlet Letter herself is bound to be a wonderful resource.
Thank you for the great flosstube, Rachel! It’s so fun to see what you have in your extensive stash of charts, kits, and books. I have to head over to that museum and see if I can purchase that Sampled Lives book. I also have to check out the Exemplary on Etsy. The samplers you showed from them are beautiful.
Yay!! Glad you're up off the floor!!! Love the color on your hutch and that pewter is perfect in there. I love looking at samplers but have yet to stitch one. The book does show some beautiful ones.
Love the pewter in the green hutch ❤ I'm so happy that the supply of linen has finally allowed you to get caught up. I was thrilled to get the rest of my order last week. Thank you for persevering, I think I'll need some of the new colors. I love the architecture book you showed, who doesn't love big houses in samplers?
I love learning about architecture and the book is a great resource. It must be wonderful to have time to yourself finally. During Covid I was only ever alone when my husband was doing the shopping so I can relate to your situation to a certain extent 😊. I love doing samplers especially when there is some history recoded about the stitcher. Happy stitching!
Louise, your Folios are beautiful!! Sorry I totally spaced and couldn't remember your name, you kick on that camera and your brain turns to mush! You girls will be very successful with your new endeavor! 😘
I just got my Mary Hill 1854 in the mail and had to rush to open it up when I heard it had your fabric included! Steinbeck is beautiful! The architecture book looks so interesting!
That book about samplers would be really interesting to read. I love to stitch, but I also love to read about stitching so I have borrowed books from other stitchers in my Guild to read. Glad to see that you are now "back on track".
I recently got back into cross-stitching after a 30-year hiatus after stumbling across the Shepherd's Bush store during a work trip to Ogden (it was right across the street from my hotel!) I love making patchwork houses, and I was thrilled to find a book for counted cross-stitch houses! I would love to design my own sampler someday, and I have a few sampler charts with houses on them for practice!
Glad you’re back in your regular spot, you sound more comfortable. Love the plum street you’re working on. I would love the book, I have several books I flip through often, this would be fun to add to the collection. Hope you get to do some things for yourself this weekend. Stitch a little or a lot! Have a good week! Happy stitching!!
I have two Joanne Harvey kits…both with silk. I got 40 count linen in mine…very nice…not the thin, see-through linen. Each color of silk is in a loop of paper with the color on it. I have the Ann Holewll Sampler. This is a sampler that The Dewitt Wallace Museum in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. I purchased this sampler after seeing the original sampler a storage drawer at the museum. My husband and I got a personal tour of the drawers where all their samplers are stored. An amazing experience! My most impressive experience was stitching under Joanne Harvey at Plymouth, MA…the second class where she taught The Loara Standish Sampler…I have this VERY large sampler all stitched and framed so you can also see the back, as this was stitched totally reversible in 17th century stitching style. It is my most prized possession…what I would save in a fire!
Rachel- your hair was totally on fleek today! 😁 On another note great vlog as usual. Marsha/Scarlet Letter is one of my favorites, her book must be amazing eye candy. Thanks for all you do!
Enjoyed your video. The Scarlet Letter charts you own are gorgeous. I would love to have that architectural book you are offering.Look forward to your next video.
A great video. I just watched the Susan Standley video you mentioned seeing. Spelling? Love watching her too. I liked when you said something about living in Paul Revere kitchen. I love the dishes in your cupboard. Glad you have some alone time again. I realize I like having some alone time! 🍁🍁🍁🌲🌲
So glad you're getting back to "normal" in your routine, though I know the help must have been wonderful. I loved seeing and hearing all about more of the samplers in your stash. I've missed that part of your videos. I saw the sampler architecture book in Susan's floss tube and wanted to purchase, but the money is just not in my budget for extras right now. Imagine my surprise that you were planning to let someone else add it to their stash so I at least have a shot at owning it. I've always loved stitching houses in samplers and am very interested in the history of the buildings we stitch. And I loved seeing the pewter and Christmas touches in your hutch. A beautiful backdrop and it got me in the Christmas mood! So thanks!
Thanks for another great video. Love your new hutch! What a fun book. I love samplers. I haven’t tried your linen yet but am excited to try sometime, I love 40 count.
Always fun to hear from you, whether you are on the floor in your bedroom or in your regular spot in front of the new hutch. Just thought you might like to know that there is an official list of DMC color names. If you Google “DMC color names” you should be able to find it.
Good to catch up with you and appreciate you filming when able. Love learning more about the history of samplers. Wouldn't it be fabulous to discover one stitched by an ancestor? I don't think I had any ancestors who had the education or leisure time to do this kind of work unfortunately but appreciate the opportunity to add a book to my collection that helps me appreciate the motifs that were commonly used.
Hi Rachel! I would love to look through that book. Scarlet Letter has so many wonderful samplers. I have just restarted Ann Rayner. I stitched most of it years ago but wasn't happy with the linen choice. Looking forward to seeinv your progress. Great video, glad you are getting back on track.
I’m with you about Sampler stitching season. Spring sounds like a good time to do it. I really don’t stitch that much spring pieces. I’m on board! Thanks for the book recommendations. Something to put on my Christmas list. Great quote from Teddy Roosevelt. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Rachel, Thanks for the reminder about Paulette’s Ann Rayner conversion. A friend passed on her chart this year and I havent kitted her up yet but did like Paulette’s colors, and silks. I just printed the conversion while watching you. I loved your commentary on The Examplarery kits. I bought Polly Coffin after being in Nantucket last fall. The linen is an ugh and the lack of real labeling of the threads is frustrating. But, as you say, accept and move on. And lastly, I’ve been to the Fitzwilliam and bought the book. So many wonderful samplers. A really enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing. xx, Tricia (preb409)
Marsha Van Valin has many good books. You should get an alphabet book by her. I liked that she had various alphabets from various periods of time which is nice to have if you want to personalize your work.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your lovely charts, purchase, linen and knowledge. One day I hope to own some of your linen but impossible to get in Australia. Take care.
