    What's your favorite thing you've learned on you first year mountain biking?

      When they say lean back, they really mean get low, or at least not THAT far back 😉 nice tips!

      oh wow yeah totally! now it does seem to do more harm than good to new riders. I've seen A LOT of OTB crashes because the rider is too far back!

    Great video!
    Been riding a long time and can’t agree more about strength training. Always just rode. Adding strength training has been unbelievably helpful.

    Really appreciate your videos and this one in particular. I find your advice and watching your progression really helpful and motivating, especially since I am just getting into mountain biking. Also like that you are local (I live in the East Bay).
    In regards to your pads, which ones do you recommend since you have experience with some of your crashes. I too can’t afford to get hurt and be out for a length of time.
    Again, thanks again for your videos and looking forward to seeing more.
    🤙🏽

      Thanks for the kind words bro! Maybe we can plan a ride together since you’re local, join my facebook group: Traildad. For pads, Ive been using the fox launch pro knee and elbow pads (older model) for more than a year now and theyre solid

    Pads!!! YES! First 661 pressure suit I got as a grom gave me courage I could wear. Definitely made me progress stupid fast!

    what trails do you recommend for first year/novice riders in the Bay Area?

    • @TrailDad
      @TrailDad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a bunch just depends on where in the Bay. China camp in san rafael, lime ridge in concord, JNT in the south bay. Some of the few

    Going into my 3rd week. Bike fit is definitely important as well as knowing more what type of bikes are for what.

      that's an excellent point! drawback of direct to consumer brands is you need to find a buddy that rides on and try it on before buying

    I started mtn biking almost 2 years ago now and the biggest thing I learned is to not go do a descent immediately after a tiring climb. I learned to take my time after a climb before descending. I OTBd at Brushy Peak and my right shoulder paid for it when I landed on those jagged, sharp rocks.

    • @TrailDad
      @TrailDad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ah that's tough! yeah for sure I had made that mistake a few times and ended up cramping or crashing

    Diamondback is NOT a direct to consumer brand. They have dealers all over. Go try one. ;)

      2 years ago I bought mine online, delivered to my front door. They took their bikes out from bike shops. Are they starting to supply bike shops?
