Farringdon to Abbey Wood is normally 20 minutes duration on the Elizabeth Line, 40 minutes on Thameslink. There are normally two Thameslink Rainham trains per hour again at the moment.
Someone on the Essex Road video mentioned that the fact that the northern city line is not on the tube map and it suggests that you have to go via King's Cross. This gave me an idea for a race. It would also be interesting to see whether it's quicker to change at Euston or at King's Cross
At 8:28, I was actually sitting on the seat right opposite you. It sounds unbelievable, but to prove it, the exact date that this was recorded was the 11th September at around 2pm Edit: just realised that didn’t prove anything. Oh well.
Yes ... But the fastest way by TRAIN to Plumstead is Thameslink because Elizabeth Line doesn't go there. And you'll rightly get strange looks if people ask you "What's the best way to get to Plumstead?" and you reply "Get the Lizzie to Woolwich, then get out and walk!"
Also worth mentioning that the Elizabeth Line is more frequent, so it's potentially a _lot_ faster if you just missed a thameslink.
You were extremely lucky because the rainham trains are once an hour and you only had to wait 3 minutes

Great race, loved the intercuts between the two of you with the editor's comments, and can't wait for the next one!
Ccxcghjkklll.😊😊
Plumstead station is where my dad used to live then he moved to thamesmead
another race idea is Shenfield to reading Elizabeth Line vs Greater Anglia+ London Underground + GWR
The Elizabeth line will always win as its m in frequent. The fact that guy walked from Woolwich to Plumstead shoes how ahead the Elizabeth line is.
CONGRATS ON 1K GUYS VERY DESERVED
Enjoyed the race, great video congrats to the winner
Another great challenge, thanks TfL Three. Well done.
"he is also much more athletic than Hugh"
No need for that sort of violation
brilliant race i enjoyed watching this
@Daniel - vada the lallies
Great video!
That could have been a much closer race if Daniel hadn't gone all Usain Bolt at Farringdon :D
Doesnt Plumstead have an interesting Bus Garage (and modern road flyover ?)
I doubt most people would walk 16 minutes. More likely to walk to Woolwich Arsenal and then get the train one stop.

Casually ignores the fact that in the outro someone stopped the door from closing

Great Scott!! You’re right, yeah this was shot quite a while ago and it was indeed right then and there. Hope you enjoyed the finished video ~Hugh
Not so smug a winner if it had been pouring with rain!
7:21 Hugh you missed Woolwich Dockyard
Thameslink Rainham service doesn’t stop there ~ Hugh
Good video
Elizabeth line won Yes
