    I like the real smooth, fluid, and quiet movement of the scooper thing. If you sleep through the entire night, you'll wake up knowing it must be broken.

    I bought one of these in 2011(after reading a lot of review comments and watching these kinds of videos) and it was wonderful at first! (helps a lot with allergies!). Just happened on this video again so here's a follow up. The cost and delivery time for the soap and beads was a pain, hooking up to water supply and babysitting it to make sure it completed cycles was a pain..it seemed "fragile" from the start so you get stressed wondering when it is going to break..but worst was that the thing cost hundreds..about $500 or so US at the time (much more in Canadian $ for me) and the electronics stopped working properly just after the warranty ended so oh well too bad for me..the buttons did not respond most of the time, or it wouldn't turn on, or pressing a button resulted in action that was supposed to be controlled by another button. We ended up having to throw it away..you clean it as well as you can and it still gets cat pee leaking a lot into all the inner workings (which was a really gross surprise the first time, and what likely ruined the electronics). Harder feces often got stuck too. After the warranty was done it was just tough luck, of course. Nothing was replaced and I wouldn't buy anything like this again for the price. If it were cheap and lasted a year or two and you didn't need to keep buying product constantly from a long-distance company it would've been ok. I wouldn't expect to last forever but for the price and ongoing financial commitment yeah..it wasn't worth it and I was out a lot of money.

    We have two. We love them. Had them for over a year now and they work perfectly. The cats love them. We love them. We have had to buy 1 box of the 'sand' to make up for what gets drug out but, it's still been less expensive than buying litter every other day for our 3 cats. Plus, no litterbox smell.

      Mine had lasted me a little over 3 years before the processing unit failed on me recently. I have 2 cats and only one is pretty good at using it,while my younger one is still a "work in progress " in using it.

    People who trash this machine just don't understand the value and Heath benefits. I'm allergic to the litter, the dust, and smell, makes me very ill. We live in a condo, so the cat can't go outside to do her business. Sure this machine isn't cheap, but it's sad when people can put a price on ones health. Well worth the money spent. Try it, don't like it, return it.

    I have a cat genie & have had it for plus years. Mine is not this noisy or this choppy. I do have to take it apart to clean it once a year and to replace the litter. We have 5 cats 🙀 crazy cat lady starter kit. I put in two boxes of cat litter graduals & run the maintenance solution once a month.
    5 cats, only 3 litter boxes, the cat genie & two regular. IT SAVES A FORTUNE! Ours is the washer hook up & drain.

  • @Besna69

    For those that say this will scare cats, there are ways to train them to accept it. My cat took to it right away, didn't care at all. I have seen clips where the cat plays in it, while it cleans.

  • @kojichao7096

    @kutak21 It's shaking the excess litter granules off of the scoop, keeping them in the pan. You'd normally shake a poop scoop in a regular kitty litter box to do the same thing. It just sounds odd, but it's not dying. :)

    Hate it. Owned one and had replaced 5 times in 2 years and the last one replaced blew up and almost caught my house on fire. They replaced it but needless to say it sets in a box in my attic. It didn't work more then it worked. Don't waste your money.

    Or people who don't want to touch poo or get litter dust in their lungs which contain feces particles. Or pregnant women. Or people who have a hard time bending over, have a hard time grasping the scooper (arthritis sufferers, etc) but still love their cats.

    @5050TM 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Exactly. I almost bought one when I had saved up my money a few years ago and my older brother said I was lazy. I ended up going home without it. I don't understand why some people don't see the pros of this machine. : )

    I think it is a really nice invention. IT just takes a long time to clean it BUT. Im sure I can kinda play with it and research it to see how the cleaning time can be altered. My cat use to meow all through the house to tell me she is finish or come to the top of the bed and tap me on the head at 3 am in the morning lol. Can you set it for every time the cat goes to the bathroom?

  • @strokedriedrie
    @strokedriedrie 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think its for using old fashion litter grit because today's litter grit is taken up moisture so the last thing you want to do is putting water in it, it will become one big lump of stiff litter grit, the best one until now is the hand rolling one, just turn it around ones a day and clean the tray, use natural litter grit so you can waist it in the bio-container.

    • @kenfriedenberg2904
      @kenfriedenberg2904 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You obviously don't understand how this works. You don't use clumping litter. You reuse the plastic pelletized and washable litter beads
      over and over again.

      A box of granules comes with the unit. The granules don't need to be replaced but they will slowly deplete over time so you can buy more granules and top off as needed.

    I feel like as I'm watching this video that the scooper is about to break... It sounds like it needs help... I think the idea of it is great, maybe one day someone will invent it to work a little better sounds like most of the buyers didn't have any luck with it working.. So I'll keep scooping litter.

    • @johnstack5008

    What if the cat has to go while the system is doing all that cleaning and taking so much time??

    • @hawaiiparadisecafe
      @hawaiiparadisecafe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This has never been a problem as all of our cats have waited until the process is completed. We think any interference might become an issue during the auto setting where the Cat Genie is set to clean at 1 - 4 specific intervals through- out the day. Having said that however many cats will instinctively and intuitively memorize these time intervals. Especially if they are given a more regimented feeding schedule. Sometimes the cat will even enjoy watching the cleaning process themselves. We have sometimes wondered if they do this with some sort of association of empowerment or pride in being able to initiate such activity in the litter box. You have several options on how to initiate the wash cycle. It could be done 1. manually if you are at home a lot and want to self- monitor, economize on cleaning solution and customize cleaning by turning it on when the litter becomes noticeably smelly to you (our preferred method since we are home a lot.) 2. the motion detector “cat” setting method which initiates a wash cycle through a motion detector where every time your cat enters and leaves the Cat Genie starts in 1-2 minutes or 3. The automatic wash cycle where you can automatically set 1 - 4 times or intervals throughout the day. (This one is esp. good for single or multiple cat owners and esp. if you work outside or are away from the home a lot).

      The mic is too close to the machine and the jerky motion of the scooper is purposeful to shake off any loose litter sticking to the fecal matter before dispensing, depositing, liquifying and draining it .

    What a was of money this would be. I can't believe anyone would pay $400 for this thing. Big problem is if you use clumping litter when it does the "wash" cycle the litter would turn into one big clump and that would be the end of that. What a stupid product.

    • @johnstack5008
      @johnstack5008 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I paid $200. It comes with a box of special plastic pellets that looks and feels like regular litter. The pellets don't absorb liquid so when the cat pees it goes straight through the pellets into the tank below. According to the manual, using regular litter will ruin the machine.
