My favourite UFO/ Schenker era album. All killer no filler. Standout for me, Ain’t No Baby, Looking Out for Number 1, and Born To Lose. Paul Raymond and Phil Mogg made a great songwriting team on this one.
I placed my pre-order quite some time ago and really look forward to its November release! So far, ALL of the Chrysalis expanded/remastered UFO releases have been top notch and much, MUCH appreciated!
The second band I saw at St Georges Hall in Bradford circa 1982. Came home from school, got the denim out and bus in to town. Queue was huge so asked the lads at the front if we could join them. Doors opened and straight to the front of the stalls. Epic gig.
Yes I will be buying this, got my pre-order in for both the vinyl & cd version, just have to wait til Nov. 22nd. UFO have been a soundtrack to my life since I first was turned on to them back in 1978 when the "Obsession" album came out.
Love these "first look", "pre-release" videos. I've heard of UFO because I'm a big fan of this channel, but haven't heard much of their music. Update: just listened to a selection of their music and liked it a lot more than expected.
The CD version actually has 4 bonus tracks that I don't believe are on the vinyl. .. 12. Only You Can Rock Me (Single Edit) 13. Cherry (Alt. Version) - Previously Unreleased 14. Mother Mary (Strangers In The Night Studio Version) 15. This Kid’s (Strangers In The Night Studio Version)
@@brianmacdonald4144 Yes, I have my original vinyl copies of Phenomenon, Force It, No Heavy Petting, Lights Out, Obsession and Strangers In The Night. I wouldn't sell, trade, or give them up for any reason. UFO with Schenker was the soundtrack to my high school years, and I still listen to those albums plus Walk On Water fairly regularly.
@@brianmacdonald4144 Those albums will always get listened to in my house, as well as my neighbors. I also still listen to the new music put out by Michael Schenker and by Phil Mogg.
@@danpena7922 agree No Heavy Petting is also excellent and have bought the recent special editions, & another fave which i did enjoy The Wild The Willing & The Innocent
Por supuesto qué lo compraré!,he visto a UFO,tres veces y 1 a Michael Schenker!,para mí son una de las mejores bandas de Hard rock de la historia, los venero!❤.
Knowing next to nothing about UFO or their music, I'm going to interject the following. I enjoy whenever the insert from a compact disc is a poster like that one. In some fashion, aside from becoming wall art, it also reflects on the LP formatting. In some cases, the flip side of the LP case is big enough to include all of the lyrics from the record and the track listing/production information (often in really fine print). That can't be done on a CD, which is where the purpose of that poster kicks in.
I love alot of classic heavy rock bands from Iron maiden..Sabbath ..rush.. Scorpion's..alot of the NWOBHM bands .I never gave UFO a chance but they are really good
UFO were the first band I ever saw live way back in 1984 at the Birmingham Odeon ( sadly no more of course).I think Phil Mogg was billed as the only original member left standing??..anyway I've always had a soft spot for some of their more melodic metal-popness. Thanks for showing.
Just as I grew out of putting posters on my wall, I have also grown out of pure unboxing videos. To be fair, the title does state that it is a first look, so I know what I am going into. But it would have been so much more useful to have seen a single video with the response to the substance as well as the style in an attempt to gain some idea of whether this may be a worthwhile purchase. It is a trailer to the main movie but in this case, could of and in my opinion, should have been combined.
Saw UFO a number of times greatband. Knew the band that supported them on a British tour, Fist, another great band that unfortunately never get a mention these days
Drives me mental they split. Phil and Michael gelled musically but unfortunately not as people so much. Or so they say. Either way hell of a run from Phenomenon to Obsession.
I'd agree with that. No surprise that both bands released two of the finest live albums of the second half of the 1970s - although in the case of Live and Dangerous the word live perhaps has to be enclosed in sizeable inverted commas. Allegedly...
Barry sir, I've sent you the Nirvana Unplugged MTV CD from your wishlist. a) because it was cheap and on offer. And b) because I love your channel. Enjoy.
I like UFO but the only album I have is Lights Out. The Lights Out album is fantastic; I don't know why I never bought anything else from them. I saw UFO open for Foghat in 1976.
Wow! You must get everything 74 to 82. One of the great ‘run of eight’ albums in rock! In fact I can’t think of a better one … apart from Sabbath perhaps? Phenomenon (1974) Force It (1975) No Heavy Petting (1976) Lights Out (1977) Obsession (1978) No Place to Run (1980) The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent (1981) Mechanix (1982)
I bought the previous 3 (Force It, No Heavy Pettin', Lights Out) but I'm not going to get Obsession as I have the Cleveland show in the SitN 8cd boxset. Yes, this is a new mix, but I seriously doubt that's going to make a ton of difference. Nevertheless this was a great video.
@@OFR That's fine. I'll buy it anyway as I don't own the Album yet and have the four before it as well in this series. Five counting the "Strangers"-Box.
UFO were brilliant. Obsession my favourite album by them. Little disappointed that the live bonus comes from the Strangers in the Night delux recordings. I would have liked a UK show as we got on the Lights Out delux. Obsession a triumph and I would urge everyone to buy it. (Check outt Moggs Motel, it's superb)
I recall my sister buying this for me Christmas 78, absolutely kcuffing loved it. If it's not on release till late November how did you manage to get your stumpy nubs on a copy?
Great band great album, unless I get this as a birthday/Christmas present I'll not buy it, I know it's got extra content but I'll just stick with my original copy
The huge scuff was very very obvious, but he won’t mention it because if he says a product is defective then he won’t get sent any more free copies! He won’t bite the hand that feeds!
To me, they sound like an amalgam of three other bands, one being Deep Purple. I am not sure of the other two but I am working on it. Or am I missing something here?
I bought Phenomenon, the first album with Schenker on lead guitar, when I was 16 in 1975. The lead track hooked me and I’ve been a huge fan ever since. Obsession is definitely their most successful album. But I like the first 3 albums with Schenker the most. No Heavy Petting and Force it are outstanding heavy rock albums if you love the sound of a Gibson Flying V
Get 'em all, start wherever you want, you won't be disappointed. Obsession, IMO they really cut Schenker loose on this album, especially on "You Don't Fool Me." The definition of "screaming guitar." They're one of my top three favorite bands of all time.
My favourite band of the last 50 years. Andy Parker deserves his sleeve space btw!
still obsessed with ufo
thank you for this.
One of my all time favourite albums. The atmosphere on this entire album is very special and out of this world.
Ordered mine in vinyl based upon this, I still have my original from 78...roll on November 22nd! 🍻
Great! Was lucky to see them twice in Chicago, one schenker one Vinnie. Very underrated. May look for the cd version!

Now the 4 Tonka albums starting with No Place To Run
My favorite of theirs, with Eddie Kramer producing, it sounds Zeppephilic.
Ron Nevison produced Obsession, as well as Lights Out and the live Strangers In The Night.

This record should have put them over the top in the States! It’s downright criminal.
Like Thin Lizzy, UFO’s studio albums never really sounded as good as they were live.
