Rebecca sure is a beautiful lady and a kind soul! Great video. I’m old school and love learning more about these topics. Thanks to everyone involved here in preserving history!
My aunt moved to that area in the early 60s from Florida and her Husband grew up there. I remember visiting in the mid 70s and my mother buying pottery from somewhere. Thank you Rebecca and everyone involved for being a Steward of the legacy of the area to keep the history alive. Great channel.
Rebecca Hart is beautiful enough to be a real big star and model. The trip would be worthwhile just to see her in person. The History is very interesting and I hope to get there some day.

I remember seeing a piece of local pottery at a North or South Carolina Rest Area/Welcome Center years ago. It had a turkey track design on it. By the time I got back again, it was no longer on display.
by looking... the pottery acquires different colors on different temperatures. On this case he did described it on the video, when it gets white it means it got to 2350ºF (1287ºC).

Awesome show Thanks for your update.
We were always taught that the word "Kiln" meant the heat was withi~"n". The N being the outside oven and the inside of it is only being the KIL.
In the other Catawba Valley. Love seeing the old made new again.
Very interesting.
Something I do remember is the tobacco KIL is how we pronounced the word, here in Myrtleford Australia, back in the 50's and 60's.
Interesting. Thanks.
So interesting

How do you determine the temperature of the kiln? Do you use some sort of laser heat detecting instrument or is there a way to tell by looking?

I'm not very good at pottery, but I could make a huge monster of a pizza in one of those.
