One of the 3 Dogs slower songs. They had the longest consecutive string of songs to hit the top 40 back in the 70s.

My twin sister died of breast cancer in May, 2010. Shortly afterward, I was going through some of her things and I found a cassette tape with "Cheryl, play this when I'm gone. You'll smile!" printed on the label. It was a tape of all the great songs we used to sing together as children. This song was one of them. It was actually a morning in May when I heard this song for the first time in a very long time and it took me back to April, when she could still enjoy things like a trip through the drive-thru or watching a baseball game on TV. I still miss her, but hearing this song reminds me of her...forever.

This is one of their softer pretty songs. Three Dog Night is a great American-Irish rock band from the late 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy & were great live. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Some other hit songs are "One", "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", Eli's Coming", Shambala", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On", Joy To The World" etc.

As crazy and fun as they were, I think I always liked their ballads the best. We were always excited for their new music to come out because you never knew what it was going to be... Fantastic!

Enjoyed listening to this. Pieces of April was written by Dave Loggins, who also wrote and performed Please Come to Boston,, another very good song worth listening to. Cheers.

Black and White, Mama Told Me and Joy to The World demonstrate the power of three different lead singers in one group. Truly a unique group vocally matched only by Chicago before Kath died.

Always been one of my favorite TDN songs. I don't see this as a break-up song. There are a couple of lines in the middle where he says that they stand under a blossoming oak here in May and it made him feel like he did in April and that it must be her standing beside him still in May making him feel that way. The months are not meant to be literal, but symbolic. April has the blossoming of the flowers and their love and he realizes that after the calendar has turned, the feelings have stayed.

Harri, my man !!! This is one of my most favorite songs. It was always so but, in my 2nd marriage, I inherited 2 teenage girls, Tiana and April, and I gotta tell you, Tiana was great but, I was absolutely in love (as a step-father) with April. I never figured out if she loved me back with the same fervor, but man, she was a very special girl. We really liked all the same things and we shared the same sense of humor. Her mom and I were VERY much in love but still, after 10 years together, we split up, and her mom moved out of state. So now, years later, whenever I hear this song, I think of her and wonder how she's (well all 3 are) doing.

What makes me parcel to Chuck, even thou I also love Cory's Blue Eyed Soul Voice, is that wth Chuck is how versatile his voice was on many of his songs, from sweet and soft, to very high range to that low growl, that neither Cory or Danny ever did.
Just listen to several of Chucks pieces and you will get what I mean.

I got acquainted with Three Dog Night in the 1980s when they released the single “It’s A Jungle Out There”. Totally different from this, very reggae influenced and I am pretty sure almost none of your subscribers has ever heard of the song.
I don’t think it was a hit anywhere and there’s a version with bad audio quality on Deezer, but I’m still enjoying “It’s A Jungle Out There” 😃

I'd like to suggest, if I may, that the inference here is that May is when the love affair is over. All the great, sweet memories of April are now in the past and it's now May. I don't think this was meant to be a short, monthly interval, but a longer period of time.
