Bert is weirdly one of the best people to interview Johnny. Everyone wants to talk to him about his darkest days, about a rise and fall and recovery etc. this is way more honest and less judgey than his other interviews imo
Dude don’t listen to the bs. You can’t control jt. They think they can. It’s been proven over and over again. Ask someone in prison for a booze related crime.
This honestly is a blessing for me to watch. Im ironically flying to Arizona of all places next week and seeing my family for the 1st time in years. Im fighting to eliminate drinking from my life. This has genuinely been a catylst to tighten up and follow through with my goal
This podcast talking about the moment you realize it might not be for you or you might not have the skill set. Is the realest thing I've ever heard. Never really thought about walking away from sports that way. Thank you Bert and Johnny I'll never look back on those days with regret again.
This is the most likeable I have found Johnny in an interview. He undoubtedly has some earned wisdom, and Burt broke that down better than I’ve heard before. Fascinating character study. I wish him well.
@@DanaBlack8 first of all Bert has the most forced/worst laugh of all time. Sicklers laugh is distinctive so I can see someone not liking it but he never forces a single laugh. My point was the Honey Dews theme would be perfect for Manzel, Ryan asks great questions and would get into his low lights.
Great interview. Sounds like Johnny has a great perspective on things these days. Love to see it. Hope the growth just continues, and wish him the best.
Browns fan here, wish dude could’ve gotten his shit together a couple years ago, because I believe some cool things could’ve happened in Cleveland. Hope the best for ya Johnny
Johnny is very well spoken! Vocabulary is great, his analogies are well portrayed. Media training really made an impact or he’s smarter than people give him credit for!
Up here, CFL teams don't have the US football fan base. Having local talent on every teams is also an awsome way to keep canadians interested in CFL. NFL and NCAA are more popular than CFL and USport. Having more americans would upgrade the league game but it wouldn't attract more fans on the long run. As a long Montreal Alouettes fan, i'm use to see great players for 1 to 4 year and see him getting his chances back to the NFL. CFL also give a great window for canadians to get to NFL. Anyway, great interview as usual!
He can be proud. Didn’t have the success he wanted in the NFL but there are worse things in life than being a high school and college star athlete who’s still rich af
And they also gave him a shot at getting back to the NFL not the CFLs fault he didn’t take it seriously and frankly sucked. I’ll always remember that game against Hamilton where he broke the league record for most interceptions thrown in a game.
Hide the Canadian, some great Canadians at DB and LB as well as other positions. Katsantonis in Hamilton and Marc-Antoine Dequoy in Montreal are stand outs in the backfield and gee both white boys. There is a lot more than 2 or 3 per team that could go south and compete but face facts politics and numbers. Only so many jobs available.
Yeah? They got paid on snaps and they would remove him before he would get his full amount of snaps so they could pay him half the money of which he had to pay taxes, exchange fees, then taxes again. They are shady asf.
The talent in the CFL is better than Manziel even thinks, it's nice to hear him give the CFL props...but realize he's claiming he went up to the CFL then just "didn't feel like playing anymore". When in fact he wasn't capable of playing in the CFL. The rule differences and faster game were too much for him, he was only a backup for publicity purposes. He was terrible in the CFL, couldn't keep up. So when he says the talent is better than you'd think, I give him credit for saying that. But, he downplays the talent level by claiming he just didn't "feel like" playing football as a career when he went to the CFL.
Its a beautiful thing seeing how far Johnny has come because you can tell how far he is still going to go. Nice to see Brett not looking so fat for once too. Good job Chrysler.
Not sure if he'd be interested but I'd like to see him take a shot at the UFL. Much smaller league but still pro level. I get he's at peace with it but Johnny football could still have a shot, and with 3 Texas teams, might be cool
i love how JOHNNY MANZIEL stood up for the C.F.L i wish that i had a jersey of him from hamilton i was so excited to hear that he was coming up here ... but i do wish that he would have played for calgary but we had bo levi at the time ....... love from hamilton ontario canada
I feel so sorry for Brent. He’s so brainwashed by Leanne he thinks she’s smart. Bert she’s insufferable and a manipulative narcissist but everyone that knows you wants something from you and is afraid to tell you because they want something from you. Some day you’re going to look back on your life and realize this when it’s already too late.
totally alcoholics. I remember when I used to tell myself well I'm not drinking and driving and I'm just drinking at night. mean while I'm going though a half gallon of vodka every 3 days .
the thing i dont hear anyone talk about when it comes to sobriety and mental health is using detoxing methods specifically for heavy metals intestinal plaque parasites and liver cleansing. when you can get rid of alot of this garbage that has accumulated over the years your mind and body will heal.
I don’t believe a word Johnny says lol, dude is 100 percent still partying and is hanging on to the thread of fame… give it two years and we”ll all be wondering what happened to him 😂
Like I get it what Johnny is saying but he really just wasn’t the competitor that he thought he was. And that’s okay but he just wanted to do the simple life and drink and just chill with had he had had. He’s a waste of talent though regardless but I don’t blame him at all.
You can’t say Johnny wasn’t a competitor. Imagine the pressure that was put on his shoulders the moment he won the Heisman as a freshman. He didn’t realize what that pressure was gonna do to him and I think it got to be too much to handle and not what he expected. But you don’t do what he did in high school and college without a competitive edge.
Im a firm believer of If Johnny didnt get drafted by cleveland, he would 100% still be in the NFL. All the talk about his heart not being in it may be true but I feel like thats a direct result of being picked up by arguably the sorriest team in the game at the time. Cleveland sucked the love of the game out of him. The coaches were dicks to him from day one. The media and fans shit on him after the very first mistake. Baker almost got done the same way. Fans loved him until they had a reason not to.
@ReXillaX yeah I guess when u put it like that, "still active today" is kind of a stretch. But dammit, it certainly would have lasted longer and maybe even been more prosperous by the end.

Two years sober today and this podcast made me pick up the drink again.. thank you guys my family was wrong, I’m gonna pursue this dream again

A Johnny Football and Tebow podcast would break the internet.
That would be Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It might cause an EMP.

His night-cap interview with Shannon sharp is really good too.
His Shannon Sharpe interview is great too.
It's awesome Jonny figured it out and does what he wants. That had to be tough. Glad he got it right!

After the club shay interview and now this, I've gained ALOT more respect for this guy.
Did you watch his doc? Pretty good as well!
This is such a great podcast and the most I’ve ever seen Bert listen and just be in the moment.

He’s always been articulate. Even as a freshman at Texas A&M.
Always rooted for Johnny even being a Ravens fan!
The way Bert sits always trips me out! It’s like his legs are made out of rubber bands. It’s freakin crazy!
Never underestimate the flexibility of the Machine!
she grew up and currently living round women i thinks hes been sitting like that for 52 years 😂
Never cared for Johnny football as an Alabama fan, HAHA, but after watching his documentary, he's the man. Dude rules!

And they also gave him a shot at getting back to the NFL not the CFLs fault he didn’t take it seriously and frankly sucked. I’ll always remember that game against Hamilton where he broke the league record for most interceptions thrown in a game.
