this piano is an absolute YES! I use it for pretty much everything. Sometimes I'll use something else for a change, but others always end up reminding me how good Noire is. 😁 Nice video! Happy to see this getting mentioned in 2024. Interested in your midi files, and will subscribe this evening.
watched this video to learn more about the vst but man it quickly turned into a beautiful piano listening session, i was in tears with some of these tracks you played! So so beautiful, thank you!
I have so many pianos but Noire is definitely my go-to. It sounds beautiful and the variety you can get from the tonal shift and color knobs is amazing. I love using the pure piano and turning the tonal shift up, and the color knob down a little. It kind of starts to sound like a felt piano, but with a different sound to the actual noire felt piano.
IMO, it still holds up among the best of them. Pianos are a very personal thing, and i can honestly say that this piano for me is certainly the most musical and expressive i ever played, both from VST's or Digital pianos/synths/whatever... That bass with the sub mic turned on is gorgeous.
just bought Noire a few days ago and all i can say is the felt piano / emotional preset (pedal sound a bit down) is my absolutly fav for improvising 😅 I dont want a big library like Keyscape, im still a piano beginner and Noire is absolutly perfect for everything i am going to play. Greetings
Funny, I just picked this up the other night, on sale. These days I'm generally not much inspired by NI's offerings, but I'm really glad I got this - having a blast playing it. Very full bodied, expressive, and I imagine it will cut through a mix well. And yeah, Db is a great key...hits the sweet spot for some voicings I like to use and is just a lot of fun to play in! I'm guessing there's a reason gospel players seem to like this key a lot!
Just bought Noire during their Black Friday sale after watching your demo. Sadly, it didn't come with your amazing playing skills... 😁 Thanks for a great walk-through and simply glorious example of how great this pack can sound in capable hands.
Noire Pure is my #1 for stand-alone playing, with Garritan CFX a close second. Both are sampled from the Yamaha CFX Grand, as is Piano Colors, which I don't like as much as Noire. Both have a particles engine, which I like, but rarely use.
Yeah, they're both great and approach the CFX a little differently. I agree, the particle engine is super niche, I can never quite get it to work the way I want.
I have to admit, I got it because seems nice enough and when on sale it's 75 bucks which seems quite reasonable to just get your feet wet with a VST piano. At some point I'll go for a bigger library I guess, but right now I didnt want to spend 200-500 dollars.
Piano in Blue is by far my favorite piano library. This sounds really nice too. the new Strezov piano that came out 2 days ago also sounds excellent, they do not miss on any product.
Man i just wanna dig in your mind🤦🏽♂,, 16:29 like all the chords, the comping...like i know you played a 514 w/ 13ths in your left,, but your approach is just amazing
6:40 onwards sounds amazing! Was this inspired/based on something or was this just pure improvisation? Either way it sounds incredible. Love your style
Noire is my current goto despite owning 12+ libraries and tried the VSL libraries. I think Galaxy Instruments did a great job of sampling this library and I love having all the customisation options. My only complaints is the room it was sampled in is quite dead and I wish there was other mic perspectives that sounded less dead. Also, it’s a shame this library doesn’t have Una Corda (sampled or modelled) but not a deal breaker as it’s rare classical pieces require it. I’m looking to get a new piano library and am very interested to hear how Ivory 3, Garritan CFX and Production Voices 300 Grand compares to Noire.
Whenever I see videos on musical gear where the question is, "is it still worth it?", I can't help but take the position; if you're making music with it and its good, then yes. What's the threshold? Is the Roland D-50 still worth it in 2024? Are making music with it? Then the answer is yes.
I have this but honestly never use it.... For whatever reason it usually doesn't sound to inspiring to me when I load it up. Might have to reduce dynamics or throw on a compressor or something. Also, your playing - holy shit. As always.
I’m an experienced player but exclusively using hardware. I’m seriously considering Noire but new to software synths. I tour live. Can I save custom sounds I develop and call them up in a favorites bank? Do I need another piece of software like Gig Performed or Camelot to control program changes? You sound great!!!!!
Ah man for your patreon you should definitely record sample packs with piano riffs dude ! Easy money for you there for sure. I'm always singing over you improvising, I would die to be able to buy a pack of some of you playing and write on it
One thing that confuses me about these libraries is how people load in the default settings (in this case the Basic pure) and it sounds great from the get-go. My sound is really soft and the difference in sound between soft and hard playing is really uneven. I guess this has something to do with my velocity settings, but no matter how I try to tweak it I'm unable to make it sound like yours. I'm using the Roland FP-90. Have you made adjustments to your controller? Which digital piano are you using? Btw, your improvisation is really impressive :)
It's got to be something with your controller, I've never experienced this with Noire. FP90 is a great keyboard though, so I'm not sure. Only thing I can think of is make sure Noire is loading in at a good volume, I think it loads in at -6db by default, so setting it to 0db. The only tweaking I do, if any, is add a tiny of reverb, but that obviously doesn't affect velocity.
Hi Sam, new here and also fairly new with Pianoteq, got the demo, but want to upgrade... I'm gonna go with the stage pack and you can pick 2 packs. Which ones are worth it? I heard Steinway D is a good one and Petrof. Keep it up man!
I apologize for asking a question that is unrelated to this video but could you kindly recommend a Worship piano music on line lessons to me, please? I currently learn and practice classical music. I got access to a Yamaha C7 grand piano in a church some time ago (I practice classical music pieces there three times a week, in addition to my digital piano home practice) and I was very recently asked if I could play for the Catholic Women's League if their pianist is not available. I would like to get more understanding about how to play Worship piano. Thank you, Michael

They listen to TH-camrs, get Noire, but it sounds muddier and more nasal. Any chance you can tell us what additional plugins you have on top of the Noire to get this warm and clear sound? @@SamTheBeardGuyThanks so much for responding quickly! That’s so interesting. Will have to dig a bit deeper then, cause mine sounds wildly different out of the box. Love your sound, so I wonder if I have wrong DAW settings or something. In any case. Thanks for replying!🙏
This happened to me quite often. Assessing a piano sound just by hearing it online is almost impossible. You have to play it. I own noire and I never use it. The best by far is The Grandure. I play concerts and produce tracks every day with it. The fact that it is cheap, just 49 bucks, maybe scare people off bying it or even just checking it out. Many of us already own it inside a bundle and just don't know it.
@SamTheBeardGuy what is the audio interface your using i have bad sound with this on scarlet solo 4th gen not sure why your piano sounds so much fuller
@@SamTheBeardGuy yeah went ahead and purchased it, both the felt and pure are part of Noire and yes Noire is playable as a standalone program through KONTAK 7
lovely playing as always - can you explain a little about why D flat is the best scale for you? (and why not c sharp?) for a non pianists like me, it´s much more convinient to noodle in a minor, but as I´m noodling right now in D flat, it´s got something nice about it, too - which I can´t explain atm...
Idk haha, I've just always vibed with it. Might be placebo, but I just like it. There might be some science out there, but I think that stuff is kinda iffy
IV used D flat alot for me and I'd probably put some money on this. It's an easy key to noodle. For someone with 20 years experience than it probably doesn't matter but that's probably why back long ago ha as for me with only 4 years experience it's easy to navigate like a few keys with black notes. But I could be wrong.
Off topic question sorry! Do you record your piano using WASAPI exclusive mode, with something like ASIO4ALL? I've been wanting to integrate Noire with Embers (a MIDI visualizer) in future projects, however latency is an issue unless I use ASIO4ALL, but I then can't record into OBS because of the exclusive mode. But yeah, I've been loving Noire! I'll have my piano back by February, and I cannot wait to play around with it more properly! Anyways good luck with the Patreon! I can't subscribe at the moment, but if my situation changes, I'd love to ^^
thanks!! Yeah I don't use PC other than for gaming haha, reading you're question gives me PTSD when I tried working on something a year ago on PC. I wish I had a better answer, but I'm not versed enough in PC audio world anymore to actually know what's best. I love PC's, except for audio stuff.
Drats! I guess there really is merit to the argument that Macs are better for music production than PCs. In fact if memory serves, this part of the reason why some people use two PCs for streaming. For example I play a lot of rhythm games, but because they rely on WASAPI exclusive mode for low latency, they become impossible to stream, hence a second computer lol.
Noire is absolutely amazing, still one of my favorite libraries alongside the VSL Steinway and The Granduer
Love the grandeur
