Oliver was hoping Diaz would leave his friends and family alone if he confessed. As we know, in season 7 is not what happened. but consider this. This is all part of their bigger story arc. Felicity is the one wears the 'pants' in their relationship. Therefore she is the one who is going to come out on top. but ONLY if she becomes greater than the sum of her fears. she'll have the most to gain, cause at least she'll have Will and Mia by her side. And Oliver with the most to loose cannot watch his children grow up Or grow old with the woman he loves. Oliver said "nothing worthwhile ever comes easy" and i very firmly believe that the greatness of Olicity was never meant for ' a normal life on earth' until that time comes they each have their individual parts to play. It's one of the themes of their relationship. 'together but apart'

Another bad decision of Oliver, he should have told Felicity about his deal with the FBI she is your wife now not your girlfriend, you promised you wont lie to her and trust her, he did it again just like he did in S4/15 , maybe if they are not married Felicity will leave him again, but she loves him and she has William to take care, he was putting his family life in danger because Diaz is still alive
