    I had a similar experience and I took the brush, detangled and twisted it myself. I have a great stylist now but I do my own trims every 2 months and only see her once a year. Ive retained so much more length on this schedule.

    I agree natural hair salon in the states are not good . I prefer the salon experience in Nigeria, they actually are knowledgeable and mindful when handling natural hair.

      They are amazing at getting your hair straight but you’ll experience a lot of breakage! I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed.

      I think @STYLEbyEDEN @12byTwelveBeauté & @CitryneROSE + @JanayMICKLES (in that particular order too !) are pretty good at handling natural hair gently...
      Have you seen their videos on TH-cam ?

      What?! I’ve had the opposite experience. It’s only recently that Nigerian hair salons have stopped with the incessant “Aunty you don’t want to relax your hair”. 🙄

      I'm surprised to hear this, the young ladies that braided my hair in another part of West Africa were not gentle at all. They even asked why I didn't have a relaxer.

    Yes, a lot of salon stylists, especially if they don't specialize in natural hair, can be rough, and in a hurry. They tend to cut off healthy hair too. I just cannot do it. And it did appear to be a lot of hair in that green brush she was using. I have learned to blow dry and cut my own hair.

    • @fatimaxfarouk
      @fatimaxfarouk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it’s unfortunate tbh! I wish I knew how to cut my own hair I’d completely stop going!

      hey I’m not sure if by now you’re trimming your own ends at home, but you can check out ‘deeper than hair tv’ video on how to trim natural hair at home.
      Also I saw someone mention Afrikan hair god -his videos are really informative on trimming our hair.

    Omg I feel so seen! I only go to salons for blowdries and trims. I asked for her to be more gentle and she said she already is💀 I legit felt and heard my hair breaking. They do trim well though but that’s bloody it! I’ve decided not to go back and learn to do my trims

    Sorry you went through this. 😔 I finally found 2 good salons in NY that do natural hair well. They are self taught or learn on the job because managing kinky hair is not taught in beauty school.

    Im 100% with younon mot going to salons anymore, it's like pating to get your hair ripped out😢😢...I just feel like if you're going to wash my hair in one go and not sections, why not just detangle at the end instead of detangling before AND after?

    How often do you shampoo your hair?

  • @Magique88888
    @Magique88888 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why is this still a think. I or you or anyone else should not have to tell a stylist of natural hair to be gentle. They know what they are doing when they are ripping out the hair, see hair popping and falling on the floor and really do it on purpose from resentment of long type 4 natural hair. I've experienced this. I know its true because they always comment on the lenth of my hair and my hair isn't nearly as long as yours.

    first of all she is not a cosmetologist
    it is so unsanitary OF HER to put a WET BRUSH tool between her legs CONTINUOUSLY then use the WET BRUSH on your natural hair!!!!!! OMG SMH

      Maybe they learn in cosmetology school to wash the hair open like that because I rarely ever see them wash in sections. I do think however when they detangle and apply the deep treatment they should section and twist at least from that step before finding it out.
