    I have a 2020 general xp and love it. If you want a sport utility you will not be disappointed with the General. Like you Luke, just can’t say enough about what a great job Polaris has done with this machine.

    Hey DT ! Great video as always. What a machine ! that has basically every option you could ever want haha although Starting at $35,000 CAD price tag is wild..... but people will buy it. I really like how you mentioned the smoothness with the power/clutching, I think that's something people overlook.... it's what I like so much about my Yamaha, super smooth. Sure that Jerky feeling makes it seem like the machine has so much power but in the real world trail riding, everyday use, that jerky-ness is terrible. I don't own a Polaris and never have but I sure love how they are always innovating and pushing other brands to keep stepping up their game. I think they finally woke Yamaha up enough to make the Rmax, which is an awesome machine. Thanks again ! Keep up the great content !

    Ordered a General in July this year. Got it mid Sept. XP deluxe with ride command and stage 4 audio with sub woofer. Like you said, the only difference is the rack and the light bar. Don't know if the stage 4 audio is an upgrade to this model but I have it. Ordered with glass windshield and rear poly. Black crystal is the color, much better than blue imho. Anyway, we've been busy moving so it only has about 50 miles on it. What a great machine as well as a great head turner. By the way, wheels are 15" and book says 2000 lb tow ability.

    @DirtTraxTv excellent review and I personally love this model and can't wait til I can get one! Would it be possible to use aftermarket tires and make it a square tire setup? It's not like I plan to Baja Race or use it in any competitions so if I lose a little handling and steering response that's fine with me to have a legit square tire setup. Thanks!

    Just bought a 2024 sport 4 seater general, Ive never owned a sxs before, I dont do any kind of work with it, I use this thing for pure trail riding and it absolutely rips! I come from owning a sport quad, you can definitely feel the weight on turns but you also feel the confidence and capability it offers, very satified with my purchase so far... makes me feel good about spending 30k on a toy👍

    Like always, great video Luke ! I'm currently in the market for a sport utility sxs to replace my Defender. I'm hesiting between 2 vehicules: General 1000 premium and the Commander XT with the new 700 single engine. Comfort his my 1st priority. I've sat in both of them this week-end and I found that the General is more comfortable. But the new Commander is 4000$ less. I also heard that I will have to do more maintenance on the General (every 50 hours) compare to the Commander (every 3000km) . Please help me choose 🙏 Keep up the good work🇨🇦

    We have a 21 General XP 1000 Deluxe with stage 4 Ride Command. We bought it because we have had the XP4 on order for months and the build date just got pushed back again for April to June of 22 and we ordered it in July of 21. The guy who ordered this two seater fell through and we happened to be at the dealer inquiring about when we would possibly get our four seater. I was not a big fan of the looks of the two seat version and and still don't care for it as much as the 4 seater. My wife talked me into buying it because our build date for the 4 seater keeps getting pushed back. That being said the two seater is growing in me. It's fast and nimble. The short wheelbase actually makes it more capable for the type of use we need on the property plus playing. The Ride Command is excellent and I highly recommend getting that option if you can. Ours is the stage 4 with the sub woofer since it's the 21 model year. The suspension is awesome for everything I've used it for so far. It soaks up the big bumps and ruts with ease and it seems like the faster you go the better it works. Now I'm starting to face the dilemma of trying to decide if I should sell the two seater if and when my four seater ever shows up or keep it and sell the 4 seater. So far the two seater has really impressed me.

So we bought are first RZR xp1000 . I'm still interested in the general so I'll give the RZR a trial bases . I'm 58 and feel the RZR is more than I'll need . I’ve owned Polaris and currently own Polaris with my Can Am X3. It’s such hit and miss with their construction quality . Anything breaks with abuse of course , but when I first went to choose between a Maverick Trail 1000DPS or a 900 RZR trail , the overall build quality , especially the interior, switches , paneling , handles etc etc wasn’t even close . It reminded me of what I already knew . I own both.
    That being said , I’ve always said their best built machines is their Ranger /General line up. Rangers have been around for decades . I could type a lot as to why I feel that way but I don’t feel like it lol.
    That being said they did a great job on this generals design , and I can back up the statement about how smooth and quiet they are , as my buddy’s new ranger 1000 is butter smooth and quiet . I just hope they actually put some quality engineering into it .
    I’ll enjoy my new X3 for now ;)

    I have this exact model General. I changed the stock springs to Zbros and had the shocks re-valved. Best thing I did. It rides and handles way better than stock. The stock springs are junk. On my 2020 XP General after 5-600 miles they started sagging. I lost around 2” of ground clearance by the time I sold it with 3000 miles on it. My 2022, I have 3200 miles and no sag with the Zbros springs on it.

      @@MassiveOverkill Hi I had to take the time to educate myself on the term rti and the results are impressive on the rmax compared to the general...would that be because the rmax has no sway bar on the rear suspension and the fact that the springs are straighter then on the general pushing the tire further downwards keeping it in contact with the ground longer ..I own the 2 seater xtr version are the numbers similar?...love your channel and mecanique skills

    • @MassiveOverkill
      @MassiveOverkill 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mariost-jacques7490 the sway bar certainly has something to do with it. The XTR scored 648.8. I asked them if they could retest each machine with the sway bars disconnected on each model but legal department wouldn't allow it. I believe the iQS soft setting is softer than the soft setting on the manually-adjustable shocks, allowing the LE to achieve a higher score than the XTR. Thank you so much!

    I think the #1 Jing robbery is light bars. Every manufacturer does it, so not unique to Polaris, but charging $100-$600 for a light is just offensive. I've used $15-$50 LED's from everyone fav online store for a few years now, from headlight bulbs to bars. None have had issues. So what's better about a China made light bar that says "Pro Armor" on it to justify 10x the price?

    How in the world can u choose this over the RMAX? If u compare this model general to the any model besides the base model RMAX, ANY RMAX wins everything. The XTR, blows it our of the water. It just doesn't have the radio. The LE has all the same features minus the bed rack and each RMAX comes with yamaha reliability. I am all for American made machines but the Japanese have been building powers ports engines since the 50s or 60s. They got it figured out. Plus I believe this machine is priced higher than the RMAX.

But judging by Luke's snarky little comment about not wanting to hear about the cost. I guess this will fall on deaf ears. He's said this on a few videos, so clearly these videos are not targeted for the working class nor are these vehicles. Must be nice to not have to care about cost.

    I know this is late to the party but I own a 2017 General with Ride Command. I hate, HATE the doors. I'm 6' 5" tall and I hit my knees getting in and out frequently. If the doors opened suicide style it could prevent this. The plastic roof also SUCKS. Yes, it will rain water down on you, filled my shoes several times before we installed a windshield. The roof also pops and sounds like it's falling apart when the body flexes. Again, ours is a 2017 and the seats are Ok, not great. The seatbelts also SUCK! Even with Body Glove pads the seatbelt will rub holes in your neck. I'm sure changes have been made for the better since 2017 but I won't buy another General
