Wish I had seen this one a few months ago. I did leave that comment on your old tutorial and I did use a 32GB , not a 16. Good old units these 2595's. I just put a fresh battery in mine as well, the old battery from 2014 held no charge. Not that it's a big deal but I like having the option to use it unplugged. Cheers!
John, the batteries in my gps have always been worthless, usually a few minutes before failing. I never though of replacing them. Are they soldered in?
When good you should get 45 min to an hour , this allows you time to set up and transport if needed. Just a small 3 wire connector and is much the same as changing a battery in a cell phone . Got mine off Amazon.
Mark, yes the Garmin EX71 has free map updates, and has the Traffic update feature. In addition you can use Wi-Fi to update the software instead of plugging into a computer.
Should I FORMAT the SD CARD to NTFS or Fat 32 ,Why does it only let you put the download on the SD CARD and not internal memory ? Mine is 91% full can't the new FULL MAP download just overwrite whats on the Internal Memory if I don't put a New SD CARD in it ?
The internal memory has to hold the operating system and map data and other features. Once the map gets too large you need to use a memory card. Wiping the internal will probably wipe the operating system and render the device useless.

@@cfldriven Ok that’s good to know 🙂 I wish it would had said Free maps and Traffic updates on the Garmin box like my nuvi 2595 says it on the box.
My new SD card will not go into the SD slot. Any suggestion in fixing this problem
Make sure there is nothing in the SD slot and try turning the card over. Hope that helps.

@@cfldriven Does a New Download of the latest Maps Overwrite the Old Map Or do I have no Choice but Add an SD card so I have the latest map info ?
