As an Eritrean i agree with 💯 you brothers. Ugandans are very welcoming , Eritreans should definitely make an effort to engage with the locals, and mix in wurh locals. You cant come to Uganda and just use up their kand and not associate with locals. The Indians did the same and they were kicked out from Uganda which i support. We are ALL afrikans and lets practice Pan Afrikanism.

    For the Ugandan People:
    1. You are doing great in accepting the horn of Africa people in their hardest time. There is an ongoing war in that region. People are always glad and appreciate the hospitality from Ugandan people. We are all African. Accepting the horn of Africa people is an exemplary act for other Africans. Well done and keep it up!! You are a blessed land for many.
    2. Regarding intermarriage, I think it is kind of individual, cultural, religious related. The more everyone is intertwine this will happen. Maybe it is good for community leaders to create a community practice to be more familiar together.
I respect Uganda's tolerance and hospitality since the old days.

I am half Somali-Kenyan and half Oromo-Ethiopian, born and raised in Europe. It seems people have taken such personal offense that they are going off on an emotional, one-dimensional rant to label our Habesha brothers in a certain way.
For those reading this, it is clear that many continental African men from the Great Lakes harbor deep-seated animosity towards Horn Africans. They manipulate, gaslight, take things out of context, and intentionally construct half-truths. We Horners are friends to all; my wife, for instance, is West African.
What I find unsettling is how non-Horner men prey on Horner women in general, as if it's a fundamental human right for any Bantu to marry a Horner. Historically, the Habesha have never been colonized and consist of a noble class of Abyssinians intertwined with beautiful Christian Orthodoxy. This cultural and ethnic preservation is similar to what we see among South Koreans, Qatari Arabs, Assyrians, Armenians, and even Nordic people like Norwegians and Danes. People tend to stick to what is culturally and ethnically aligned with them. It's not racist but common sense for survival and some type of predictability and stability.
However, we global citizens, who actually grow up in diverse environments and multicultural cities like London, New York, Toronto, Paris, surrounded by White people, Syrians, Indians, Vietnamese, Pakistanis, Nigerians, Somalis, Habeshas, Rwandans, Europeans, and Jews, naturally have a broader cultural scope for dating and marrying anyone because we know a very broad spectrum of cultures in depth. But the obsession some continental villagers and Bantu East and West Africans have with why Horners don't want to date Bantu men is creepy. You can see the same with Himas and Tutsis, Maasais and Samburus, Rendille, and other non-Bantu communities in Africa; they rarely marry outside their tribe and clan systems. This has been the norm since ancient times. Bantus came as agriculturalist invaders to a pastoralist native Horn Cushite, Nilotes, and hunter-gatherer East Africa.
It's not a human right for a Bantu man to marry an Horner Habesha or Cushite woman.

    • @PierreJJ.
      @PierreJJ. 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

💯💯💯💯 Thanks for speaking the truth, jeez. I'm Rwandan Tutsi, bro. You made perfect sense. Even in Rwanda, we don't mix much in the grander scheme of things. Despite living together as Tutsi, Twa, and Hutu, sharing language, culture, and national identity, everyone knows that Tutsi marry Tutsi, and Hutu marry Hutu. Very rarely, even after 600 years of coexistence, does a Tutsi man marry a Hutu woman.
But in this globalized day and age, and interconnected Africa, there's more blending. What these Bantus don't get is that there are African communities that can mix more easily culturally and genetically. My fiancée is Eritrean Habesha, and my younger brother has dated a Kenyan lady he met at ALU University in Kigali, who looks almost like a pure Maasai, with a Somali-like appearance.
This male Bantu fixation on marrying Tutsi, Hima, Somali, and Habesha women is distasteful; it's like they don't value their own women.

The main thing is to study and understand the complexity of family structures, culture, history, religion, politics, geography, race, and economic situation of each clan, tribe, and ethnicity. For example, I’m from Tigrians (northern Ethiopia) and don’t consider myself an Ethiopian or Eritrean (the country that speaks our language Tigrigna). Both Eritreans and (some parts of Ethiopia) are our descendants. As everyone knows we Tigrians had a great empire called the Axum Empire which controlled the Gulf peninsula and Saudi Arabia just like the ancient Roman Empire did. Everyone considered Tigrians to have a unique identity and the most feared tribe in Horn Africa even though we are not much. Recently, Eritreans and Ethiopians have jointly opened the war with the help of Somalia and UAE and committed Genocide on Tigrians. So, at this time it’s impossible to imagine marrying an Eritrean or Ethiopian man rather I prefer to have a Ugandan man.

May I humbly speak the truth? It‘s called colorism which is a very tolerated social norm in Ethiopia, but particularly in Eritrea to the point it can frankly be called racism. The Habesha Eritreans (Tigrinya speakers) don’t inter-marry with darker skinned fellow Eritrean ethnic groups like the Kunama. Ask any ethnic Kunama man or woman, they’ll educate you about it. The Habesha Eritreans regard the Tigrayans & Amharas in Ethiopia as their ‚race equals’ in terms of same ‚cast‘ so to say, and they don‘t refer to themselves as ‚black‘ but do so to South Sudanese, South Ethiopians, Kenyans & Ugandans and unfortunately look down on them covertly. If they feel safe and are only among themselves you won’t believe your own ears. Any decent or honest Eritrean or Ethiopian will confirm my words. May God bless you beautiful people of Uganda. You are way too kind and good hearted. I wish you only well.

No, it's called ethnocentrism, and Habesha people are hardly unique in regard to them being ethnocentric among the peoples of the world. Why would Habesha intermarry with physically and culturally unrelated groups like Kunamas and other groups? Habesha dont intermarry with Muslims either because of religious differences. Most Habesha dont interact with people from other Eritrean ethnic groups because they tend to numerically small, and most Habesha live among themselves in villages and towns. Habesha people dont exist in Eritrea alone. They exist in Ethiopia as well. They share common racial origin and cultural traditions, and their history is intertwined. Of course they are going to view northern Ethiopians as being closer to them than South Sudanese, South Ethiopians, Kenyans, Ugandans etc. Habesha dont view those people in a derogatory fashion. They just recognize that they are ethnically different and act accordingly. You are chastisizing Habesha for being culturally insular, not for being discriminatory through physical violence or state policy.

Why do you embrace a term like "black" which was specifically coined by white Americans in the 1900s to describe descendants of West African slaves? Even in pre-colonial and early post-colonial Africa, particularly in East Africa, calling oneself "black" made no sense. Why adopt a term that suggests inferiority and subscribe to African American vernacular? You are African, Ugandan, perhaps Bantu or Nilote, maybe Banyankole or Baganda. But what does "black" mean? Technically, we are shades of brown. Maasai, Somali, Tutsi, and Habesha people reject this term as a broad, racist generalization, preferring to identify by their specific ethnicities like Sidama, Tigray, Somali, or Tutsi. My clan is Abega; "black" just doesn't fit.

@@DreamandBuild-px5nt I'm a Rwandan Tutsi engaged to my fiancé, Haben, who is an Eritrean Habesha from the Tigrinya ethnic group. We both live in France and plan to move back to my city, Kigali, soon. Tutsis, known in Rwanda, Burundi, and the Great Lakes region, typically marry within our own community. Our ancestry traces back to the Ugandan Hima people, and even today, a Tutsi from Burundi, the DRC, or Rwanda can easily marry a Hima in Uganda, as we share a common heritage. Although we avoid publicly discussing these matters in Rwanda due to historical reasons, such as the genocide, it's important to recognize that Tutsis are genetically related to Horners, part of the larger ancient pastoralist people of East Africa.
When our families learned about our intention to marry a foreigner, they were initially resistant. However, they became more accepting when they realized Haben is Eritrean. Just look at our Miss Rwanda, Naomie Nishimwe, and her Habesha Canadian fiancé, Michael Tesfay. All of Rwanda accepts their relationship, and the families are already loving each other. This acceptance also extends to Somali partners, especially for Muslim Tutsis who often now marry Muslim Somalis in Kigali. Even a Somali family is working with Kagame and the government in managing investments and real estate developments in Rwanda.
While this might seem exclusionary and tribalist, it’s similar to how a Baganda in Uganda or a Hutu in Rwanda might have strong intra-group ties. Both are Bantu people genetically, with a farmer-agriculturalist lineage, and similar phenotypes and facial features. We Tutsis share a deeper connection with our distant Horner relatives in terms of cattle culture, tradition, poetry, and genetics. It's not about racism; we are all Africans, but we are different. There are over 3,000 different languages and ethnicities in Africa, and just as many tribes. The Fulani in West Africa only marry other Fulanis. This is nothing new.
In all honesty, there are probably 300 million Bantu women in East Africa under the age of 30. What's the problem? Why ignore them? They are your very own people.

What is it with all this inter marrying stuff etc?? Don't you have women to marry from your own people? If they think you aren't good enough to marry from them, then they aren't good enough to marry from you. Reciprocate the energy but jus Co exist. We aren't short of women.

Well, it can be said to be a race issue because Eritreans/Ethiopians and Ugandans do not constitute the same race. Tribalism exist in Ethiopia and is the reason why the central government and militias have been locked in a prolonged war with the forces of a regional state. That is a conflict rooted not in racial but tribal differences.
