I just discovered what commonplace book is and ı realize ı have been doing that since ı became reader. I usually write the tittle of the book and ı keep notes as ı’m reading. Now that ı’m learning about commonplace book ı might advanced the way ı do it.

Thats awesome! I wish I had known about this years ago, I would have been collecting quotes for a lot longer :)

My common place book is a A6journal that my retired grandfather didn't use! It was from 1989 and I had no heart to leave it empty so I started to write something. Not necessarily fancy or maintained. But to just write. Now I have my habit trackers, quotes, reflection of my thoughts, interesting math tricks, weird but interesting things about world, any drawing or a simple doodle, a list of things to research about, to dos, reminders, something that made me happy or something that I learnt new about people and places. It's like a journal cum common place book?
I always write something in it everyday. Turning the pages and seeing my messed up drawing attempt on a human nose does make me giggle!

That’s really cool! I keep a similar notebook with daily to do lists, and random thoughts that pop up. I’m sure it will be really interesting to look back in a few years and see how times have changed!

Heyyy, this video was very helpful. Would you say that having a common place book digitally is the same or is a physical one in that regard better for retention? Also a lil improvement tip: As the audience, it would be better to watch your video with a slightly more regulated audio like reducing the Music a bit and paying attention to your mic (there were some puffs at time) 😊

Hi! So I tried having a commonplace type of thing online and for me it didn’t really work, maybe because of how I formatted it, or because having a physical copy rather than digital feels better for some reason. I also think writing helps retention better than typing, and having a physical book to review old quotes also helps with retention. Also, thanks so much for the feedback, I will keep that in mind!

This semester my English teacher made us start a CB and I started filling in my own pages of quotes from webtoons and shows
I usually put a theme, picture, some notes along with the quotes

I found it really interesting that you added a dot next to an interesting quote!
It feels a little awkward seeing people buy new expensive books and then write all over them lol
the dot seems good for the individual and not too distracting if the book ends up being sold or gifted!

I use pencil dots even in library books. Then when I make my notes I erase the dot. 😊
