I think one of my favorite parts is that the song plays THROUGHOUT the entirety of the scene. It adds this surreal, David Lynch aspect. You think it's diegetic music and just playing over the radio, but that would mean it's playing for the entire day from breakfast in the afternoon; it's a great allusion to the domestic, monotonous repetition in Betty's life. Then by the end of the scene, it becomes clear it's non-diegetic.
The moment she decided to just be okay with her life after having her dream of modeling shot down. Yeah she pretends to be okay with it but she’s outside on the lawn shooting the neighbors birds out the sky, having a psychotic break.
I watch this when I feel like crying over my long-lost fiancé. The brutality of it is he said I didn’t just look like Betty. He said the character’s mannerisms would rattle him - too much like me. This is the only clip I have ever watched of her.
