    Why is there a coefficient of 2 and it's raised to the 2nd power?

      because at equilibrium, given that the solids were dissolved, if one of your ion has 2 moles in their stoichiometric coefficient then its initial concentration will be doubled so it raised to the 2nd power, and has 2 moles found in aqueous state which results to coefficient of 2

    thanks! i got a question like this on a practice exam and I didn't know how to tackle it- now I do (and hopefulyl when I take the mcat)

    In the equation the oxygens arent balanced

    • @blackhole678
      @blackhole678 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are balanced, he just didn’t include water in the products, or he could’ve excluded water from reactants

    • @emmayoder8431
      @emmayoder8431 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      he just added water to be clearer, but not necessary, assumed therefore not included in products

      I don't see what oxygens "are not balanced" ; CO3 -- is not reacting, and in natural blood and urine, it exists predominantly as HCO3(-). Carbonate does not react with water in his analysis, if it did, it would be a 2 or 3 equation problem depending on pH

    2 questions: Why show a problem that the MCAT won't ask us to calculate and what is the red pen for?

    • @abidabdelaziz9936
      @abidabdelaziz9936 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      You should be able to do all these calculations in your head for the MCAT. He said this isnt the type of problem, but actually it is and the math here is very MCAT ask-able.

      the MCAT WILL ask you a question on solubility and Ksp

      You are bothered by a red pen he does not use. Forgive my lack of humor, I get it now. Good luck in Medical School 😁
