I think the couch isn’t as bad as you think! I’m an interior decorator and here’s what I suggest - get a rug and a coffee table and two side chairs! That’ll make the living room feel more full. You don’t need every inch to be covered, white space is actually necessary for a design :) you could even play with nesting side tables and some oversized artwork! It just feels odd and small because it’s by itself
I remember legit taping where I wanted my couch in my first apartment doing measurements being so OCD about bed size, dining table size and my couch and media tv stand. Is hard when you try to decorate a whole place by your self. Don’t be to hard on yourself Keegan mistakes happen
this makes me feel so much better that I’m not the only one going through this!! I bought the couch before I moved in and I wish that I would’ve waited a little bit so I could’ve taped it out
Get a matching chair or some accent chairs in a similar style!!! Also adding a rug and art can help tie it into the rest of the room. It might make you hate it less if you have to live with it!
Hey Keegan, I totally can relate to your frustration during the decorating process/ furnishing your home. My advice is to put the items your decorating into the place you imagined them to be then leave it for a couple days to see if you really like it or don’t like it . Sometimes after several days has pass and you walk pass the area enough times you’ll realize what you need to add or take away to make it the perfect space for you. Just take a break when you get frusturated because everything will come together and look beautiful at the end . The adventure is always in the journey my sweet friend ❤️
Honestly I think the couch looks fine. Once you have wall art and more things in the space it will be really cute. Keep the desk for sure bc it makes the space more full. The bar stools will help too. Maybe add a nice plush chair to the living room and a rug so that way the couch doesn’t seem too small. Wall art and a rug for sure!
To add to what everyone else is saying about the couch-you can make changes and add or take away so much stuff. Then when you do move this smaller couch will be easier to move plus if your next place has a smaller living area it will be perfect. In my years of apartment living I have definitely had too big of a couch for the space. So sometimes it’s better to have a small one and maybe a accent chair or two
You just need a chair, rug, coffee table, and side tables and it’ll look fine. The rug with anchor the space and make it look intentional and the chair will round out the space and provide more seating. Put the chair on an angle by the window. It’ll be great!
I think the couch will look so much better once the room is finished! Tv, coffee table, etc. I also think a rug would look great and help fill up the space!
Place the mirror between the couch and the desk until you decide what to do. It will create a division of space and make the size of the couch look more balanced. It’s a great couch you have time to figure it out.
Your feelings are 10000% valid in regards to the couch! I would be the same way and I probably would’ve reacted even worse. So never apologize for being dramatic. But thanks for showing your raw and true reactions! Makes me feel more normal! Sending good thoughts in regards to the to do lists! Cannot wait to buy one!
I can totally see what you’re saying about the couch! Maybe once you fill your space more, it might portion out right? I love the idea of wall art, a rug, and some type of coffee table. I feel like you need your desk with your business, so what about putting a ladder shelf on either side and the desk in the middle of it? Then the couch is on the other side of a ladder shelf. Or, maybe some type of cute chair that would go with your theme and a get some pillows with a pop of color?
Use the couch as a room divider. Place it facing the balcony , dining table and chairs behind it. Then try 2 accent chairs and a table on the wall facing the TV.
Thank you for making me feel validated about instant furniture regret. I had the same feeling about a brand new expensive couch I just bought!! Waited just long enough to not be able to return it to finalize that I hate the color. I even ordered their swatches prior and thought it was okay. Now I am faced with a similar situation as you. I can try to sell it for way less than I bought it for an then have to rebuy a new expensive one I want. Or live with the one I hate. Everyone telling me it looks fine just makes me hate the couch and the fact I didn’t buy the other one even more.
Girl you have every right to feel that way about the couch. I’m so sorry that you spent so much money on it and it didn’t end up being what you wanted. I love all your videos and how you always keep it real for us. I wish I had the money to get all your to do lists. I love to do lists, but don’t have the money to get any. I love writing things down and keeping everything organized. Keep doing you girl. I’m finishing my last 2 semesters at my community college, then transferring to Ferris to finish getting my bachelors, then have to find another college to go to get my masters.
Yes the couch is small for the space but once you add a rug and the tv, I would think it would look much better! Also, adding a chair maybe in a fun color + the styling on the shelves will be perfect!
Hi! I work with interior design and if returning/getting a different couch is not an option, I would suggest some type of round swivel chair like the Balboa from Pottery Barn (the smaller size) and it would make the room feel super cozy!
Keegan, I want you to know that it’s okay to have a bad day. I know that this day you showed on this vlog didn’t go as you might have hoped, but I also hope you also realize that everybody has bad days. Everybody has hard/rough days. It’s life, I appreciate you being so open and honest with how rough/challenging this day was for you.
A lot of people probably would pay near what you paid for it just for the fact they could collect it the same day rather than having to wait for it to be made! I’d definitely put it up for sale for what you paid and just say ‘or near offer’ and just see what happens, you don’t have to sell it this way but it may give you the option!
I think it looks good for the space you have it in. Agree with other comments that once other decor is added to the room, it will begin to look like home and have its place. The great thing about furniture is you can always buy more as you move into larger spaces. Some of our older pieces can always take on new roles. For the benefit of anyone who may be sofa shopping, consider potential use cases. If you have a lot of 6’5” guy friends, it may not be a bad idea to have some extra space for those friends to crash around the house. Just sayin’.
I feel like a couch with a rug the tv and a coffee table will look fine. And with the bar stools you will move the table more towards the couch it will fill the space even more.
If you stick with the desk or maybe only 2 shelves and move the couch towards the window so it’s centered on the tv you can probably fit an arm chair that’s caddy cornered which might make the size of the couch look more intentional
wait... did I just spot merch?!! 😍 Also, sending good energy your way!! Made me sad to see you sad, I hope you feel better ✨ Thank you for the video and for being honest ❤
I feel your pain, dear. I just did the same thing and I'm probably 3 times your age. Talked myself into the apartment sized custom made one, and it's beautiful, but I'm so mad I can't fully stretch out in it. I'm going to sell mine for a big loss and get another. Costly lesson learned.
I know this is an older video so my suggestion isnt likely to be helpful but I have to say that the couch might fit perfectly on the other side...like across from where it is now, where the cube storage is currently...and then that way the other wall is a little office set up with the desk and the cube storage
You could always buy a different side table that will fit better in the space.... just a side note, always measure the space before you buy, that way you'll get the right fit.
Maybe you could try putting the sofa on the opposite wall (the shorter wall) and see how it looks. Sometimes it helps to move things around. I would still call just to see what they say about some kind of return/exchange. It doesn’t hurt to try. Good luck with everything. Btw try toasting your bagel in the air fryer
Hey Keegan!! Just wanted to tell you that you were NOT being dramatic, it’s a completely understandable reaction. It’s a big purchase and this is your first official place! I would’ve reacted the same way, because you want your own space to be right and feel at home. And you’ll be the main person who will see it. I’m sorry you had a crappy day and that I hope it gets better for you!! ❤️❤️
I love the couch and I do think you could have gotten a bigger one but because you cannot return it just do things to distract from it. A beautiful large piece of art over it will draw your eye up and I would get two good size chairs and place one at either end of the couch and an area rug and a nice coffee and the couch will not even be the main attraction and add some kind of throw pillows with some color or design and a nice throw over one end of it, Your desk could have shelving over it with a side section to allow room for you to put things on. I love your vlogs, you are so natural and not ashamed to show your feelings and you seem a little sensitive but just take some deep breaths and you should be very proud of yourself Keegan.
We all have are days and moments when we just need to let it all out and that is ok! Also I just got my gradient To Do list just came in the mail and obsessed is an under statement! Also love the video! p.s i would totally buy and wear that sweatshirt that you were wearing in the video!
Try decorating around it. The olive tree looks great there. Just try to spread its branches to make it look fuller. The two big frames above the sofa, like you mentioned would definitely amplify the look and will add to the process. A nice side table next to the sofa to the left with a big lamp(not a tiny lamp! Go big!) And don't forget the rug on the floor. I know you said not to about the sofa, but it honestly does look fine! Take a deep breath! You got this! Your sofa is the focal point in that area of your livingroom but because it's not decorated around it, it gives the impression that it's tiny. Be patient and watch how it'll all come together and you won't think it's small at all after you're done decorating your livingroom. Trust the process!
I totally get your concern, I’m not gonna tell you to like it if you don’t, Ik how irritating it can be I literally hate all of my decor rn, but living rooms can be SO versatile, you can always make it work. Add a lamp, add a cute bench or ottoman, I like fun seating so i believe a pouf can fix everything. Building upwards from the couch with art could also help block the space off from so it doesn’t feel so small in the large living dining and office area you have
Just a thought, what if you got a matching/similar chair? It would be extra seating and might help make the space look better with the couch. It might look different in person than it does on camera though so I’m not sure how well that would work
@@KeeganActon on a budget: home goods TJMaxx or (some) Amazon rugs can be cute and more affordable but if you have the budget Anthropologie has amazing rugs!!
You could always get a bigger desk since you like having one and that may off set the couch feeling off center/ the too small feeling once you add in all of the other decor. I had the issue of my apartment feeling too open and once I added an arm chair it really changed the space and made the couch feel like a better fit. So sorry you had such a rough day! I’m sure everything will work out and look great in the end
My biggest advice to becoming an adult. Take advice from your parents or elders. but always remember that you are an adult and have to make decisions that best suit you.
You can order wobble wedges for the table to stop it from wobbling! I understand the frustration w/ the couch but I'm sure with time and proper decor the space will all come together!
It probably is kind of small, you could have gone with a three seater. Bigger furniture can work in smaller spaces, so consider it a lesson learned - BUT - you can make it work, you just need to decorate around it. It looks smaller because it’s all by itself. One end table with a lamp, get a chair or two, hang some stuff on the walls, maybe an area rug.
I think adding an area rug would help “fill” the space more and make you hate the couch less. Also adding an accent chair like everyone suggested (I think they even make a utopia dupe on at Living Spaces) hugs though - decorating a house can be so frustrating!
Regarding your pet peeve, if you say you don't like something and someone tries to convince you otherwise, it's because them skipping ahead feels like an invalidation and not acknowledging your feelings. It's like having your feelings be ignored and it's likely a need for you: to have feelings recognized. Appreciate your candor!
I bought a couch online during the pandemic and they only gave me so many hours to return it. It arrived on Friday afternoon and the return period ended Sunday morning before they opened & I worked all day on that Saturday so I wasn’t able to return it. I really don’t like my couch and have even thought about putting my daybed in my living room and selling it. Anyway I can totally relate to your dilemma.
LoL !!! U reminded me of myself when I buy something big I can't return lmao. The only way to fix the situation is to take the loss if u can, and buy what u really want. For the smaller try not to throw boxes away wait like a year first lol
Yes a sofa table or side table. I just purchased one from Kirklands and it had drawers. I also just purchase a side sever from Ashley furniture, it has drawers and doors for extra storage..
Hey hun, I absolutely do not think you’re being dramatic at all. You don’t like it. It’s your space, and it’s SO frustrating when other people say they like it because like you don’t and it’s your place ya know? Plus you KNEW what you wanted and had someone talk you out of it. At the end of the day you have to live with it so do what makes you happy! My family is the same way and if I’m honest I let a lot of other peoples opinions affect my decisions and that’s something I’m learning how to avoid. I’m proud of you for keeping it together as much as you did because I would’ve have a full meltdown as probably cried every time I walked by it. 😂😂🥲
I know this is an old video, but that couch is definitely too small, but at least gives plenty of space for a comfy chair to add in the room. Measure twice, and tape out the floors folks!
awe Keegan ik how frustrated you must feel and that is totally valid. its okay to be upset, mad, sad all of these emotions !! especially cuz ik buying furnitures are not cheap and the fact that they don’t allow it to return it 🥺but i do suggest if you really don’t like it at all just sell it and ,maybe buying the adequate couch ! whatever best works for you. i hope you are feeling more at ease and i hope they’re will be a solution about your couch 🥺💗 love u always
Did you get an extended warrenty on your new couch? If you did, an you dont like the new couch then damage the couch in a way that you can return to the store that you brgought it it from Living Space store.
Girl I totally understand your frustration. I appreciate the transparency because I feel like I’ve felt like this too while styling my apartment. It can be difficult! It will be okay girl. It takes time!
I do think it's too small. I know it's more money, but could you purchase the larger sized one, too and put them in an L shape kind of like a sectional?
I wonder if there are huge green plants that you can buy at home depot or something? They usually have some pretty big pots, and it will add to the aesthetic of the room! (Maybe my idea is dumb, but that's what I thought of first!)
You definitely need a cool rug, side tables with some cool lamps; pull the couch away from the wall and get a color photo piece of art for above the couch.
Sometimes I wish you could make a big purchase but see it in your space first before you actually complete the purchase. Just like how when you make an online order it takes you to a review page even for small purchases before you confirm that you want the purchase.
Keegan sell the couch and get the one you want. Your mental peace is worth so much more than any loss you might have from doing that, or you can go back to the seller and try to make a deal. It doesn't hurt to ask!
Not gonna lie… but it’s a small couch 😩 so I feel your pain but in my studio apartment, it would be HUGE, but honestly there are ways to decorate the room so that the space (couch included) can look more aesthetically pleasing ✨plus the white color makes it worth keeping 🤍
I would take advantage of what you "hated" which was the gap between the desk and the couch. Take advantage of it so kinda separate the spaces with a rug , a side table and a big lamp :)
You could try to sell it and get the size you want or try adding a side chair and place it at a bit of an angle to give the potential of getting used to it. Just a thought.
I think people were trying to make you feel better and help, I get that it just makes you more frustrated. Are you able to add onto the couch with a chaise lounge chair that could help? Or add a separate chair or chaise lounge chair to help with the empty space? What about those blanket holder things too? If you can’t return it you could sell it? We have options and you will find what works best for you. Just wanted to throw those out in hopes it helps or gets you thinking about alternatives that will solve the problem.
What you could do is is order the larger one and have both the sofas. I don't think that two would look bad in your space. My husband and I had futon and a full sized sofa in our previous apartment. I also really like vision too.
I feel like I can’t justify spending more money on another couch because I’ve already spent so much fresh in this apartment :/ I might do that further down the road but right now my bank account says no😂😂😂
My toaster does the same thing (though its really old), and this isnt a fix but i just count the first 20-30 seconds, pop the toast, spin it 180 and put it back in for the full time, it comes out perfectly toasted then
How about putting your couch against the wall where you want to put your tv and then put the tv where the couch is? That wall looks smaller so maybe it wont look as small?
Hey girl, sometimes we need to just go with our gut. I'm sure your Mom had good intentions but I totally hear you on it being too small. I say just sell it and get whatever you can for it and then get a new one. If you eat a little bit of the cost so be it. You'll be happier in the long run. Just list it right away and order the standard size in the regular fabric:) I feel your pain with wanting things a certain way. It's your first real place. Get what you want! Love ya Xx Jen

I had the issue of my apartment feeling too open and once I added an arm chair it really changed the space and made the couch feel like a better fit. So sorry you had such a rough day! I’m sure everything will work out and look great in the end
you could add a small chair or couch next to it and on an angle
My biggest advice to becoming an adult. Take advice from your parents or elders. but always remember that you are an adult and have to make decisions that best suit you.
You can order wobble wedges for the table to stop it from wobbling! I understand the frustration w/ the couch but I'm sure with time and proper decor the space will all come together!
You can flip flop the tv and the couch so the couch is on your bedroom wall which is smaller and the tv goes on the wall with the desk
I am always excited for your videooos love youu 💗
I love you so much this means the world to me🥹🥹
Regarding your pet peeve, if you say you don't like something and someone tries to convince you otherwise, it's because them skipping ahead feels like an invalidation and not acknowledging your feelings.
Hugs for all the things that did not go well in your day Keegan. You are still pretty.Stay safe well and happy.
the merch is so cute
Yes a sofa table or side table. I just purchased one from Kirklands and it had drawers. I also just purchase a side sever from Ashley furniture, it has drawers and doors for extra storage..
You’re right that the sofa looks a little small, but I think you can make it work with a rug!
I feel like a rug will definitely help separate the space between the living room and the dining room!!!
i’m here a little later than usual, but still very excited to watch!!👏🏽💗
i love you!!! so happy you’re here!!!
You can do a arm chair, coffee table, ottomans, rug to fill up the space also other things
Girl I totally understand your frustration. I appreciate the transparency because I feel like I’ve felt like this too while styling my apartment. It can be difficult! It will be okay girl. It takes time!
I'm sorry the decorating didn't go completely as you hoped but It'll look so nice soon enough. I would love the decorating process the most for sure.
It's not the couch that is small... but the desk!
Heyyyy I love your videos!! 💖💖
this means so much
You definitely need a cool rug, side tables with some cool lamps; pull the couch away from the wall and get a color photo piece of art for above the couch.
You can get a bigger desk or put a bookshelf un between the desk and The couch to separate the Office space from the living room
Sometimes I wish you could make a big purchase but see it in your space first before you actually complete the purchase. Just like how when you make an online order it takes you to a review page even for small purchases before you confirm that you want the purchase.
YES OMG I wish someone would make some kind of company like that because I would definitely use it
i'm soooo happy for u 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
i love you!!!
Keegan sell the couch and get the one you want. Your mental peace is worth so much more than any loss you might have from doing that, or you can go back to the seller and try to make a deal. It doesn't hurt to ask!
For the bagel, point the inside outwards, it toasts better
Honestly Keegan the couch looks so much better with that olive tree you put next to it.
you’re apartment is so cute!! where is your white sweatshirt from hehe?
You can absolutely lay an area rug down to make it look better.
Love your besties Keegan, can’t wait to watch!! ❤️
I LOVE YOU!!!
Can you switch the couch to where you wanted the tv? That wall is shorter and will look in proportion to the couch. Ily 💕
I feel like I can’t justify spending more money on another couch because I’ve already spent so much fresh in this apartment :/ I might do that further down the road but right now my bank account says no😂😂😂
@@KeeganActon totally understand that
I agree with anyone else saying you should get an armchair! It will fit that space perfect and then the couch won’t look so small!
My toaster does the same thing (though its really old), and this isnt a fix but i just count the first 20-30 seconds, pop the toast, spin it 180 and put it back in for the full time, it comes out perfectly toasted then
I did that today and the bagel was perfect🤌🏼 thank you!!
How about putting your couch against the wall where you want to put your tv and then put the tv where the couch is? That wall looks smaller so maybe it wont look as small?
Hi keegan what app do you use to edit your vids cause ur videos come out so amazing 😊💜
I just started watching your videos, so if you’ve said it before, sorry. 😅 but what do you use to edit your videos?
final cut pro!! and so happy you're here :)
@@KeeganActon I am waiting at the airport for my shuttle for over an hour and it was better when I saw you actually replied lol thank you!
Your feelings are valid. Don’t apologize. Could you get an accent chair that looks similar to the couch ?
I hope you have a better day tomorrow! ❤️
thank you🥹🥹🥹
If you put a bigger chair in the space it will all mesh together and look good
Something like a credenza, IKEA has some nice ones and if you get one with drawers and doors it give you more storage options.
