About Mal’Ganis' soul not being absorbed by Frostmourne (and yes, he does have a soul), it's explained in Chronicle Vol. 3:
"As far as Arthas and the Lich King knew, Mal’Ganis had perished. Such was not the case. When the dreadlords crafted Frostmourne, they had shielded themselves from its power. The blade had not devoured Mal’Ganis’s soul; it had simply hurled it back into the Twisting Nether. In time, the dreadlord would be reborn into a new body."

Playing the campaign and reading Arthas: Rise of the Lich King is the best combination. The book explains more about Arthas and illustrates his struggle much better.

I still love that before BFA you could stand in that throne room in UC and actually hear those lines whispered as an echo. Standing where the bells chimed you can hear them if you turned up the Ambiance noises vs music

As far as I agree with your Arthas take, still, what could he have done with Stratholme? I suppose Uther would want to quarantine it but it truly could lead to even more disasters within eastern kingdoms, and as far as We know, when Arthas left for Northrend, the scourge stopped in its tracks in the kingdoms giving the people some respite.
I see Arthas as an evil character, but it's more of an Anakin Skywalker evil than anything else. There was good to him, he wasn't a brat. He believed he was helping people. If he was a brat wanting a crown he would take it.

"Arthas" didnt kill his father and became the Lich King. Once he got Frostmourne, his mind was no longer his own. Arthas was gone at that point. Same as Anduin was dominated by Jailer. It was no longer Anduin..... All Arthas wanted was to help his ppl and yes, with hard decisions comes consequence, which every king has to deal with. But who would have thought that he will lose his mind and not be able to do anything about it. He was willing to do hard choices, but in the end, didnt know what bad things can happen. And I meand who would have expected that....He was also young as someone pointed it here already. Ofc hes gonna do not so good decisions, but, he meant well.

I do think that Arthas was kind of a douche before claiming frostmourne, but he was also young. I think that if he was allowed to mature a little more before being thrown into these situations and with further help from people like Uther he would've made different choices. Also if you haven't read the comic 'Death Knight' I highly recommend it, not only is it badass and shows the struggles of people before and after becoming a death knight, but it also shows a little insight into Arthas' decisions and what it what like from his soldiers perspectives.

Arthas IMO is one of the best written fantasy paladins, which is admittedly a low bar, but whatever. He's generally affable, and cares quite a lot about justice and his ideals... to the point he will absolutely follow these ideals off a cliff. So often we see the 2D cardboard cutout version of this, where it's just a Paladin that's kind of just a fascist with no redeeming qualities, but with Arthas you can genuinely see how every step he takes towards falling from grace is justifiable and makes sense in his head and in his own, up until that point, reasonable worldview.

The Culling of Stratholme was the right decision.
Had Jaina and Uther not abandoned Arthas there he may well have been diverted from Northrend entirely and remained on the Eastern Kingdoms, thanks in no small part to the more even-tempered nature of the both of them and particularly Uther's insistence against pursuing vengeance.
Medivh failed to convince Arthas of anything because he was trying to tell a Prince to abandon his promised kingdom and the people he'd trained his entire life to protect and rule by effectively saying, "It's cooked, bro, just pack it up and take some ships across the pond."

RE your thoughts in the end, I would also be curious why can't we just ask (i.e. Metzen directly) about their thoughts on the lore and what they were thinking when making some decisions.
I'd like to see Metzen do a weekly podcast (with someone like Sean Copeland) where he discusses their development of the story and lore decisions, starting all the way from WarCraft 1, and just introduce to us when they concieved the concepts like ShadowLands, Cosmology, Emeral Dream, and anything and everything, but avoid spoilers for the future, rather just discuss their thoughts about anything that was already presented in the lore. And feel free to say "ok I didn't envision it like this, they just took the story and fucked it up"

Paladins use hammers because they needed to shatter the skeletons of the necrolytes in the second war as swords couldn't cut it, pun intended. As in all lore, paladins use hammers because they need to break apart the undead where a sword could cut a hand but the zombie would charge even with the missing limb.

Anyone know the name of the soundtrack played at 10:45? If I'm not mistaken, it was the music used in the old Amor Sets page on a very early version of the website (Vanilla/TBC I think). Hearing it made me super nostalgic all of a sudden!

Arthas is not corrupted with darkness he is just a person with mad tyrant potential scouted out by Nerzul/Jailor and easy lured to pick up Frostmourn.
Kinda like Garrosh. If those two where at thrones at the same time it would truly be World of Warcraft.

The gems are blue, because the remake's graphics where done by a third party company, and thus are very inaccurate to the original. That's why a lot of people don't like them. The red gems in the cinematic, are because the cinematics are the originals, just upscaled a bit. There's a lot of inconsistency with the reforged graphics.

The lore in this campaign certianly didn't age well, surprises me that Mal ganis' lines in this campaign sound as if he's a servant of the lich king, not his overseer. Also I don't really understand how the lich king was even able to devise this plan and realise it while also filling the dreadlords in on it. TO me it's either that malganis was the dumbest of them all winged people, or that he actually worked against the legion (which we know isn't true from wow)

Young and inexperienced does not equal to Young and Dumb. Inexperience listens to those who have the experience and strives to work within the framework set down when they were toddlers. I can guarantee you Arthas was a spoiled child. No one ever really told him "no" or he wouldn't have been like he was then. He's full of himself, thinks his father is stupid (how many 20 year olds think that until reality slaps their face a few times??). It's why he "pulls rank" on Uther before the Culling, he thinks he's the King at that point, his father just hasn't had to good graces to die yet. His insistence of riding Invincible until he dies is another indication that he doesn't pay attention to authority and thinks he knows best, even as a child. Back in his time it was ego and power, teens and young adults are under the same thing as they were back when, it's nothing new. Arthas was an ass long before that blade, it just stripped away any pretense he had of being a "good paladin" in favor of more power.

Bro, you gotta stop looking at the lore of War3 through the lense of Shadowlands. The story was made 20 years before it; it has nothing to do with it. All they changed were the ingame graphics, not the story. You have to turn your knowledge of the future off, this is the past. Way before even Cataclysm was a thought. Shadowlands has NO INFLUENCE in Warcraft 3, come on. You're smart, but you're acting crazy like Arthas with your Shadowlands spitballing xD
