Taxes give us so much, you don't get 2 years of parental leave, five weeks holiday, almost completely free healthcare, pre-school and completely free school and university and much much more for free. It is our taxes that pay for it. That they are progressive taxes, I think it is in most countries in Western countries. I partially agree with the language, Swedes usually understand and speak English well, but not everyone does and for many jobs the language is a requirement. Then it becomes easier to integrate when you know the language. I would also say that you do better with just English in the bigger cities. When it comes to the apartment situation, I completely agree, it is also a hell of a scourge for us Swedes. So if you're not rich and can buy an apartment, it's tough.
@geranienbaum Do you mean holidays, or vacations? Holidays are most days off, then you don't get paid, but if you work, you normally get extra pay in Sweden. Vacations, on the other hand, are paid by your employer, if you are permanently employed, you have at least 5 weeks a year.
@geranienbaum When I think about it, we also get paid on holidays. You get paid monthly, but it doesn't matter if, for example, a month contains two public holidays or not. You get paid the same, but for me it works a little differently as I work in healthcare, so I also work those days. You can also have a form of employment where you work as needed, then you only get paid hour by hour. However, there are rules around this, so you cannot work on such a form of employment for any length of time before the employer has to hire you on a monthly basis.
