Hiking and wild camping four days on the GR131 on Gran Canaria. Using the newly signposted first half going through the Barranco de Guayadeque in the east instead of starting at Maspalomas.
Thanks for a inspirational video. I am planing a hike in october/november, maybe Gran Canaria. where did you exactly start your hike? Your start looks much better than start in Maspalomas.
Thanks! I can recommend this hike. Apparently the signposts for the GR131 were put up in 2023. I could not find much about it on the internet, but the 'official' route now starts at Playa del Burrero very close to the airport and follows the Barranco de Guayadeque (very beautiful green valley) almost to Pico de las Nieves, and from there it joins the route that comes from Maspalomas. It is very well signposted and you would not even need a GPS to do the whole route!
@@RUBENKNEXhi! So did you follow all of the new (as of 2023) official GR131 signposts? Did you start at Playa del Burrero? I can’t find the new trail on alltrails app. Thanks
@@RUBENKNEXnice video. Do you think 10 days is too much in Gran Canaria? I want to do this route then follow one down to GuiGui beach and south. Did you walk fast? Did you do any other hikes there?
@@bkpktrekker4086 hey, yes it can be that starting in Maspalomas is the Camino Santiago. But I would recommend starting near the airport, I think its a nicer environment (more green instead of dry). I think its about 80km on Gran Canaria and I walked in 4 days which was very doable. I've heard some cool stories about GuiGui beach (a bar in the middle of nowhere and a guy that is building a house on the beach), so I would visit that for sure!
Hey, I hiked in the first half of February. There was no rain at all but there was the Calima phenomenon which made it quite hot actually. I think anywhere from december to april is probably fine. For you other comment, it seems last year they put in the signposts for the new part starting close to Las Palmas airport. Its very easy to follow these signs!
Breathtaking panoramic views! Fantastic hike my friend!
Thanks a lot!
Nice film dude :)
Pity I didn’t know about this route when doing it just around 2 weeks ago good video
Nice vid, Ruben. You found water!?
Thanks, haha yea the only place, the rest of the island was totally dry

@@RUBENKNEX isn't the route that starts in Masapalomas the camino Santiago? All my apps show the GR131 starting near the airport
