Your cousin Elon Besos Delgado, LMAO!!! Tom, the main difference between your channel and other “tour guide” channels, (besides your wealth of knowledge of NYC history), is your hilarious sense of humor. Every time I think I need to stop watching for a few minutes and get something done, you say something else that has me laughing out loud and I can’t click away!! 😂❤
I used to cop dope all over LES,a lot of notorious spots back then,a lot of Norfork, revington,a lot of alphabet city it was wide open, intill Giuliani got in,it moved around a lot,the beeper came out, everybody fighting over terrible pay phones,70s 80s 90s ,I switched to Bushwick after that, retired playing golf in Florida, went back couple yrs ago,it has changed a lot,the methadone program by OTB on DALANCY was a mess, the old markets on Essex, but back then it was just the way we liked it. Lol
@@stephengeorge3507 You would LOVE my book. I cover the gentrification of the EV and LES, the dope spots, the madness. I wrote about how when Giuliani was voted in, everything switched over to beepers. It's all in NEW YORK CITY JUNKY DAYS. I'm 24 years clean and living in Barcelona!!
fricken amazing! grew up here, didn't know pretty much any of this!! always wondered about the Rutgers St to Rutgers Uni connection, well, always curious as to why so many names are repeated throughout a whole region etc. and That bit on "Columbia" answers so much!!! Washington's District of Columbia!!! it finally makes sense!!!!
My various level of grandparents lived there in 1840's to 1910's. Ran across your videos while researching the various Manhattan neighborhoods where they lived from Upper East Side (where was live in nanny)to Hell's Kitchen to Lower East Side to Harlem. Really informative !
Tom you’re killing me today! He was like smallpox but racist, between that and the little Chinese boy incident this might be one of your best videos yet!
Love this. So many cool facts. Did you do a seaport tour? Or maybe it’s coming up…. I’ll keep watching. The new tin building and markets are interesting
As someone who grew up on Rutgers Street, I always wondered if there was a connection with Rutgers University in NJ. As a kid I wanted to go there because of the name.
Yes Tom, I remember those bands very well. I'm showing my age, but I don't care. Love both of them back than. Than Joy Division became New Order ( some same members).
Sweet history #FunFacts 😃 Knew these street names came from (potentially) important somebodies but who the hell knew who they were… Well now we know, so ok thanx
Tom is tearing the roof off this sucka! Some of the stories are so dark I would think you might need a flashlight. You can't fake the funk, and Tom is out there on those streets not just to stomp, but to give some sick facts that are not just knee deep.
Madison was not a Federalist; he was Jeffersonian in his views regarding the relationship between the states and the federal government. You see they got this thing called Wikipedia...
Houston TX pronounced Hyoo Stn is named afer Samuel Houston Former Governor & Senator of Texas and President of Republic of TX 1837. Senator 1846. Governor 1859.
"They're going to know you're a tourist, and they're going to rob you" probably my fav Tomism

Coming full circle as your device you typed that comment comes from a sweatshop in china. Way to go.

@@CSDonohue11 Love that spot! And The Whiskey Ward on Essex
I just wrote a book about what the LES was like in the 80s and 90s called New York City Junky Days

In the 70s, you could get 10 LP records from Columbia House for a penny!
Tom sure u know this but the way the golden hour hits you in every video is very instagramable. Hehe

I remember Columbia House from the 70's, so you're not old. LOL
Your videos are like Hulu episodes bro
So where are the projects on Avenue D?
