I switched over to the bright yellow powerpro on my deep-sea reels several years ago, and never looked back(40-65 lb) Last year I stripped all my trout poles and trolling reels put on yellow braid. 6 pound on the trout poles and 15 pound on the trolling rods. I love the visibility and how it handles!
Can’t agree more, I took the yellow out yesterday and tried it on the water…night and day difference for me. I will probably switch my trolling rods and surf rods at some point as well
Do you like the J over the PP? I have always used PP. last time I tried another brand years ago it was not very soft and a pain, but this was a long while ago. Can’t even remember the brand.
Hi-Vis Yellow ... good for you. It's awesome. I use a moss green _"braided line marker"_ on the last 5-8ft and still enjoy the Hi-Vis Y. 8ft fluoro leader + 6ft moss-green dyed braid = 14ft stealth below with Hi-Vis above. Spike-It makes the marker, better than a _Sharpie_ and much easier too; it's got a slot for the line. I switch to 14# mono leaders for my topwaters.
Thanks for the tips! I am using about 10- 12ft of leader material right now, I have seen others use the marker and shorter leaders as well. I might try a few feet of marker on the yellow near the knot and see if there is any difference. I did get out this weekend and the yellow was 10X better on my eyes, so definitely a good change.
I use braid to mono after watching the guys from salt strongs testing I was sold on this set up and I have been fishing that combo for years now. I use the power pro braid in yellow.
Probably should have thought about color more myself, but I never had issue with the green before, so I stayed with it. Guess my eyes are getting older… lol. I definitely can see the yellow 10x better
@@1Cast1Fish Ya I tried the green for about a day and realized I needed a brighter color went to the yellow and it has been great. love the yellow very easy to see in all lighting conditions.
I suffered all season....to expensive to redo all them reels after a few outings, plus I kept telling myself to deal with it...lol Yeloow is 10x better now
Good Information! I'm new to using braid with leaders. I only have braid to fluorocarbon leader on my ultralight and I like it! If I go to that braid/leader combo on my finesse rig I might try a higher visibility braid too.
I've been thinking about it for my Spinning reels also I love throwing a fluke and really depend on seeing my slack line I think the yellow will do well
Braid : DOWNSIDE = hard to manipulate & handle with Your fingers, specially when cold. More picky to knot properly, needs braid specific knots that are dressed & set properly. Needs hardened scissors or cutters to make clean quick cuts. Never wears out when You break off, it leaves line ( snags ) in the river almost forever . Wears out Your quides & bail roller a LOT faster that any line. If You're drag is not set loose enough it will snap Your rod or straighten your hook ( beginner mistake ) . Expensive. Needs taped spools to set & grab the spool when spooling up. In super clear water fish get spooked but it unless You use a long Floro leader. Poor big fish shock cushion, can pull out hooks on sudden hard runs ( needs a mono / floro top shot ) on BIG fish. Must be cut off or hook pulled out of lure ( ruing a lure to unsnag. UPSIDE : almost unbreakable . Last forever. No memory ( coils ) Transmits bites like a direct telegraph. Sets hooks on tuff jaw or lond distance / deep fish with no stretch.( only rod bend ) .
What knot do you use to connect your braid with fluorocarbon line? Have you tried using the FG knot? If so, can you demo how you tie it?? I have a Garmin Striker 4, so , I watch your videos a lot. All excellent. Thank-you.
I have been using uni knot to uni knot. 10 wraps of braid, connecting to five wraps of floro leader. It holds well from trout poles all the way to deep sea poles.
I now use the FG knot since I am comfortable with it now, but used to use a uni to uni on everything without issue. Not sure it matters but I always put a small dab of super glue on my leader knots.
I thought about using a marker on a few feet of the yellow as others have suggested. This is a life changer for me though...lol I am just happy to see the line again :)
I got a question, I’m using a 2500 reel with 15 pound braid and 10 pound fluro leader. Do you think it’s okay or is there something u would do different? Thank you
I have been using 15lb Yellow Braid on my 2500 size reels and have loved it so far. I also use a 10lb fluro leader. I keep my leaders pretty long...I set the length to where the knot is just about to go onto the line roller, then run the line through the guides, and then to the hook keeper on the rod...so roughly 2 rod length of leader material.

Great info. You ROCK 4 days. ❤ The info on the Garmin striker 4 was off the hook. Thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed, thank you :)
Ya, that's a great video
I use Daiwa J Braid and Power Pro in Yellow - love the line and durability - great video

Always good to get some knowledge as I am not too familiar with using anything but mono. Thanks for sharing!
I love mono still and it definitely has its applications.

That's called a Top Shot in off shore ocean fishing 😊
I use the Yucatan knot for my braid to floro leader. Strong and i never broke off!
I have seen that one before, but never tried it myself...how's it go through the guides for you?

I love the braid to fluoro leader, many advantages IMO. Definitely think about color so you don’t have to redo it like me.
I've been thinking about it for my
Spinning reels also
I love throwing a fluke and really depend on seeing my slack line
I think the yellow will do well
It's been a great addition to my spinning reel techniques, I am happy I made the switch.

Lots of truth to many of these statements

TH-cam search the Royal Polaris knot 😉
Bro im using 4000 reel, what can u suggest of size of braid and fluoro?.i mainly fish inshore saltwater.. thanks.
I have 30 on my inshore and just vary the leader
Awesome video!! Your channel looks pretty neat, can't wait to see more! Subscribed👊
Awesome thank you!
No problem, have a good day!!
I have the same problem seeing the line, but even with the leader, sometimes I want the line to be hard to see in the water.
I thought about using a marker on a few feet of the yellow as others have suggested. This is a life changer for me though...lol I am just happy to see the line again :)
Great video My dear friend ❤❤I am waiting for you. 640
Thanks You
I cast my vote that you are getting OLD !! lol
I will deny it till the end :)
I'm 61, our host is a kid 😊
