Ed Haris was also in the episode about the storms and flooding. He had the kids up in the hills doing the "survivalist" thing. Probably about 3-4 years before he did The Right Stuff.
Yes, he was in the first season of Lou Grant with much longer hair. Also, the actor who was going to strike Billie, thought she had been flirting with him in the newsroom, in the first season showed up as a cop in a later season.
Respect to Rossi in this episode.....he as more integrity in his pinkie finger than his source Kramer's whole body. Rossi kept his end of the bargin and didn't snitch Kramer out even though Kramer burned Rossi by going to another newspaper earlier.
David types are a pain for a Manager. They may be great at their job but their Morals - in David's case he was a Thief - mean they will have to be kicked out at some point. They are usually popular, their lack of Morals makes them non judgemental, which is another problem for the Manager. A cop received "exemplary references", his "popularity is an asset". The reasons he was not suitable to be a Police Officer is because he sent a naked & erect selfie to a Sexual Assault Victim, having told her her account turned him on & sent one to a PCSO who took him up on it. He "failed to disclose" that "inappropriate Sexual relationship", inappropriate because he was, as she knew, Married with 2 kids & he was her Sgt. He belonged to a Cricket Club that named their 'Funtasy' teams after depraved sex acts. The point is, the Lou character had Morals PLUS he was damn good at his job AND Popular. Lou was also a Responsible MAN. The David character was an Irresponsible silly little boy. Irresponsibility & lack of Morals often go together.
What a coincidence about that brand of motorcycle. The accident and then the company dropping advertising. It is amazing how everything falls into place each episode.
I like how the staff cares for each other in a professional and personal way.
Back when ethics and your reputation in journalism used to mean something. Bravo Mrs. Pynchon. [Yes, of course I know this is fiction]
Oops...I spoke too soon
Excellent!
That's Ed Harris at the motorcycle shop (he shows up around 4:58), before anyone knew who Ed Harris was.

True. When I saw him in Knightriders I had no idea I had seen him in Lou Grant ... numerous times. lol

"I don't believe it! I've been robbing the paper blind and your FIRING ME?!"
Wow, crooks is dumb 🤪
I understand the appeal Of riding a motorcycle . I cannot understabd why people are wiling to risk their lives riding one with cars trucks and busses
21% interest. Ah the 80s. Still remember the car commercials offering 8.9% APR and people thought it was a a good deal.
How many cars did Lou drive in this series ?!?

THAT GUY is 46 !? Geez , I look younger and am 52
What is Mrs. Pinchon's accent?
Mid-Atlantic?? When the studio system was in force the Mid-Atlantic dialect was created and taught to all actors and actresses.
No not all actresses and actors.
Oh, go into the settings and set Playback speed to 50%. It triggers "the entire city room was doing double shots for lunch".
Oh , ok ...rough rider is Ford and the 90cc is The Pinto
More like the ATC-90 from Honda.

All in the writing.
I think that if Henry Winkler didn't exist, Robert Walden would've made a great Fonzie
Or perhaps Henry Winkler would have made a good Rossi.
But Rossi is real the fonz is fictional
