    Thanks for your video, i have a 2007 honda crv. I had the same issue, but mine was just the smell. I couldn't see any leaks. After watching your video, i went straight to the fuel pump, which, luckily for me, it has an access door on top inside the car. That made the fix real easy and fast.

    Just came across your video, I’ve got a Honda CRV 2013, got fuel leaked coming from the top of tank, thought it might be coming from the fuel pump, but when I access it from the back seats, Found the feed fuel pipe was leaking, So thanks for showing me how to remove the fuel tank..

    Everyone has been under a car and started getting tension in there voice giving a wife or child directions in a dangerous situation. Kids tend to wander mentally. So since he obviously doesn’t use harsh punishments (the kid wouldn’t need the strong words and tone if he beat him) he does what the Alpha wolf does. He puts tension in his vocalizations so they don’t all die.

    2001 Jetta - original gasket leaked at 140K miles. Did not have to fully remove pump to replace gasket. Recommend a little Vaseline on the top of the pump flange to help the ring tighten. Tighten until it stops.

    This was exactly what happen to my 2001 ford ranger, thank to your video I reach up with my hand and push down on all fitting and one clicked and now my leak stopped. Also the truck was sitting for about a 1 1/2 before I fixed the rear brake cylinder. after fixing the brakes it went to start and found tank leaking.

    Is the locking mechanism on the connector ok? I would disconnect and reconnect a few times to ensure the connection is secure. If vibration caused it to move, it might be a good idea to replace the connector while you already have access to it, rather than come back later. Good vid - Thanx -Joe

  • @5400bowen
    @5400bowen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    At the factory it was put on without full connection. It was fine until heat and vibration made it come up enough to leak. Or the vent plugged and pressure pushed it off. The clip might degrade in the connector, but it wouldn’t snap back on correctly. Fuel tank pressure from heat evaporating fuel/moisture popping it up from the plugged vent is my bet. I saw a video of the vent on one F450 that is a right angle fitting open to the exterior and they said it gets plugged and initially lets contaminants enter the fuel system. As well as it’s recess filling with debris and plugging it.

      I swear this sounds exactly how mine looks to have done. It was over 100 degrees out in South Carolina heat last week (end of July/august). I had to give it some gas three times. Third time it cranked but when I reversed I saw a lot of fuel on the ground. It only leaks when I’m parked or idle. When I drive it stops leaking.

    • @5400bowen
      @5400bowen 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cmasterson yeah, once the fuel pump starts sucking at the fuel it relieves the pressure inside the plugged up tank. There is a breather fitting on top I replaced when I pulled my tank on my 2006 F250 diesel.

    My 2006 Toyota Corolla S was parked in the garage for a week. Took it to get smogged and smelled strong gas when I got there. Looked underneath and bottom of gas tank was saturated. I heard a noise of like squirting water. Came home, fully disconnected the battery. Noise still there. Could be because fuel lines still pressurized. Gonna drop tank today. Thanks for the video!

    Great Video!
    I have 2011 Ford Mondeo with capless fuel system and every time I fill the tank, the gas nozzle shuts off after 5 liters even when the tank is empty. sometime the fuel pours out under the wheel arch.
    I went to more than one garage and they told me there is no problem with the fuel system in spite of the fact they did't do any inspections on the vehicle.
    Any advice please?

      my 2013 scion frs has a similar problem, doesn't spill out but stops every time i pump for more than a couple seconds. from what i understand it could possibly be the charcoal canister or an issue with the ecu. Costs a couple grand to replace the tank at the dealer, so im just dealing with it.

  • @imnobody0034

    I think I found why it would come off. The fuel pump is in the tank, it produces the pressure to move the fuel forward, if there's an obstruction, say the fuel filter is partially clogged, Back pressure builds up. This back pressure, causes it to lift & leak at the tanks pump connector (the weakest point). Change the fuel filter, and possibly the line to it. If it continues to leak after that, move forward through the system to the next component (the regulator) find the blockage.

    I have a GMC 1995 Sonoma and it's spewing gas while running and leaking from the top. Multiple dripping points. Could this possibly be the exact same fix?

      Have you figured out the problem yet? I have a 2002 focus and it’s doing the exact same thing. It doesn’t leak at all when it’s just sitting but as soon as I start it, it starts dumping gas also from multiple points, as if it were coming from the top and flowing down the sides of the tank

    What vehicle is this? I have a gas leak too and I suspect it's coming from the fuel line hose or clamp at the top of the tank. It's my second vehicle and had been parked in the driveway for six months, was getting ready to put it back on the road, started it up and let it run for awhile, and noticed the strong smell and the leak. Not sure what the heck happened, maybe dry rot on a hose? We have terrorist red squirrels that were really active this fall, and one stashed a lot of pine cones and junk under the hood of my other vehicle, so maybe he was rambling around under this one and caused a leak. I'll wait till the weather warms up to look into it anyway, but thanks for the great video!

    But if you want to be popular on utube, you have to do what Hollywood taught us all. Dignified, pleasant, entertaining or informative stuff only. It’s tough. And the fuel filter...well maybe he changed it and did not say so. But we are getting used to the pros pointing stuff like that out. I would change all the hoses, fuel pump and gauge sending unit...really you can say you should renew every part that is exposed by dropping the tank. Safety and reliability would tell you to check every clip screw and fitting and replace it all on anything in harsh conditions or any vehicle older than 2-5 years. Who wants problems with a $50,000 truck from inattentiveness. Especially fuel and electrical at the tank?

      I'm not a kid bud . Secondly since everything is taken apart an the fuel filter sits on top of the gas tank. You might as well change it now , that's how I am on anything cause it's just common since i mean your in there already why not an plus the filters are only like $25 bucks at the most for these older cars .
