- I explore two hidden gems in southern Missouri. Cave exploring in Missouri. Things to do for free in and around Springfield Missouri. caves at wildcat glades in Joplin Missouri. Willson's creek national battlefield caves. Caving in Missouri / @robandchristyhikeacro...
Rob the best cave at Wildcat Glades is along same trail as Mother Natures Gap but park off S Main next to the old bridge...follow walking trail to right (west) down about 1/4 of a mile on right. Large it's barred off most of the time.
Cool, I’ll have to check it out one day
Rule of thumb for wanting to be a caver you don’t post the cave locations… that’s how they get vandalized. So be careful with your new found interests.
It looks a lot like a mine not a cave
I believe you’re right about that, a lot of people mentioned it earlier on.
The first one doesn't look like a cave.I think its a prospect dig. or small exploratory mine. Are there any abandoned limestone mines in southwestern Missouri to explore?
Not sure about limestone, but we do have quite a bit of mines .
This is like a 15 min drive from my house all the times iv been there since I was a kid I never knew about the caves at this location. It’s been about 15 years since iv been there and will definitely be exploring this location.
Edit: it’s crazy when you stop and think with the history of this place how many soldiers probably took shelter in this exact location during the time period of the battle.
There are about 8 caves there, but I’ve only found 5
See if you can find the Clan Cave outside of Joplin Mo. I played there when I was a kid over 50 years old but residents in the area have forgotten about it.
I do know about that cave, they use it at Halloween time for a haunted house
