Controversy time: Jason and Boris have very similar drumming rhythms and bases to their performances of this song. I find Jason Cooper’s beat more convincing and more instep with the whole performance than Boris Williams’. Both, to my ears, are complex and fit the song well (I just listened to them back to back). I find that recording has more to do with the perception of the song than the actual playing. So please, for all you haters out there, get off Jason’s back.
Not really. Jason's is a bit too "clean" and lacks power for this song. Its just weirdly inconsistent. He's brilliant when they play Burn but here he's just ugh.

Certo se devo vedere un concerto dei CURE dal vivo,pagare un biglietto molto costoso,perché comunque meritano questo, e avere su questo brano è non solo esecuzione di chitarra di questo livello, allora è meglio stare a casa a sentirsi l'esecuzione di questi brani bellissimi con il precedente chitarrista che a mio avviso è 100 mila volte meglio di questo !!! Avere i capelli bianchi non è certo sinonimo di esperienza !!! Per quanto mi riguarda ROBERT SMITH ha avuto un abbaglio oppure è andato in discussione con il chitarrista precedente, non c'è altrimenti !!! Sentite questo brano con questo chitarrista,e quello precedente e ditemi qual'è per voi il suono che si addice meglio di chitarra ed effetti...Su un brano del genere ci vuole una chitarra dal suono tagliente ed effetto e distorsione forte,questo che abbiamo sentito ora ha un suono ed effetto e distorsione "morbida" a tratti non lo si sente...Qui ,SMITH ha sbagliato di grosso portandosi un chitarrista così in tour,non sapete quanti fans non andranno a vedere i loro concerti,avranno non un enorme calo ma un modesto calo nelle vendite !!!
Hearing Jason playing the drums destroy my ears... watching him makes me feel sorry for him. Always nervous, overplaying or playing parts that don't belong to the song... poor guy, he will always be the "new" member of The Cure... the worst drummer in Cure history...
Richard O Sadly this is one of the versions of FTEOTDGS where his drumming doesn't sound so bad. I feel like their live mixes have gone down in quality though in the past few years.
