The saddest part of this type of dynamic is that a psychopath will almost invariably prey upon the most empathic people they can find- because they know it's easy to make them feel emotions that aren't their own. PROTECT YOUR ENERGY, PEOPLE!

    • @drebugsita
      @drebugsita 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

THAT PART! That is the most twisted messed up part of it all! Ugh, if they would only go for their own type or just people harming others but no they go prey upon the good-hearted people. It's evil. Of course, in their eyes its just what they do because they can. It works. But damn, as someone who has been on the other side it is maddening to realize how they try to deceive us by playing into our efforts to be generous and kind people. I think a good line of defense is to be wary of people who always play the victim and/or get you to pity them or guilt trip you

Nice to see you back again. According to French news, he was caught in Belgium at the beginning of September: they have charged him with resisting arrest after he had refused checks on his dog-breeding business in France. While resisting arrest, he wounded two police officers so it sounds like he might be charged with attempted murder also. That was just after a quick search (I found it on the BFM tv website). His "partner" Sandra was still with him in France at the time of the first attempted arrest - but I didn't see further news of her for the moment. I love your makeup and history videos: you're an extremely skilled storyteller! kindest regards, k (France)

The crazy thing about this type of control is it can take as little as three hours to fall into the trap. It’s how people end up in cults just by going to one or two meetings or watching just a few videos. With the right words and in the right environment, everyone is at risk. It’s actually really scary.

      It's manipulation/brainwashing and it's mainly unknown.
I dated a psychopath who was a master charmer, manipulative to the core...
Long story short I'm lucky to be alive...
But that's not what I'm trying to say.
So when I first met my psychopath I was completely clueless about manipulation, as we dated and after I learned how it works.
People don't all have this experience so they don't know.
When you are unaware you are more susceptible to it.
      Take this as an example:
I went shopping in the mall with a cousin a while ago. We walked passed stores, browsed clothes, etc.
Well there was a man with the shop in the middle of the walkway. He was talking to people and trying to get them to buy his expensive massage chairs.
My cousin didn't notice his immediate manipulation tactics, but I did.
I then saw him notice my cousin and saw he was about to becon us over. My cousin, being a person that is, well, easily persuaded, I quickly inturrupted her chatter to me about what we bought and pulled her into the closest clothes store to us "lets go here rn!" so we both avoided the sales man, and in turn avoiding his manipulation.

Psychological abuse is so much worse than anyone can imagine unless you’ve been through it. As a victim myself I really tricked myself into thinking everything was off my own accord and that this person was not as influential as they were. I have a friend who was also apart of the situation and she still believes things were her choice because she continuously went to his house and planned to go to his house on certain days. I don’t know how else to show her that what happened to us was not our fault and it’s crazy to me that she still blames herself.

I completely understand this. Mental abuse is worse than physical. In my opinion.
Broken bones will heal quicker than mental abuse.
It takes YEARS TO GET OVER THIS. I know all too well unfortunately. It hasn't left me in 7 years+.
Those old thoughts pops in my head all the time.

my sister and I were brainwashed and financially abused by our father for over 30 years. as young as I can remember he would talk us in to taking back gifts people bought for us so he could by other thing for the household and he would say things like "oh your good girls for helping your family." then later turn around and mentally and verbally abuse us for hours. I wasn't even legally old enough to get a work permit when he came to me and told me I needed to start paying rent or find another place to live I was 13. I found under the table jobs and handed him every red cent I ever made and that continued on through other jobs when I was old enough. I didn't realize until I got away and started seeing therapist and doctors just how fucked that situation was. worst part was he made me work knowing I had serious physical health issues that I am now disabled for.

My mom did the **exact** same sh*t. Almost exactly. I didn't ever even luve with her for long periods of time; but when I did... Of course as a literal child I wanted to live with my mom. She would sell my things w/o asking steal from other family and blame me. Made me get a job but wouldnt take me or get me and so I'd have to beg others for rides. There was no bus and even tho I had a driving permit she wouldn't teach me to drive. She'd get me to sign over every check for her to 'cash it for me' cuz she had an acct and I didn't being 15/16 or w/e. I never got any of the money. There was always a bill due or I smoked too many cigarettes/ate too much food etc etc. Or the light Bill would be due and it was all 'well you like electricity don't you?' On and on. Once I finally escaped I found out she'd been ruining my credit since I was 16. So badly that I couldn't prove I was me to even get my own credit report to try to fix it.. I'm so sorry you expierenced this it's something that ruins you ever having trust in anyone.. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy giving you internet hugs 🤗🤗🤗

I dated a con artist a few years ago. I am definitely a "go with the flow" kind of person, and I tend to overlook red flags because "nobody's perfect" so I was the ideal victim. I can attest how easy it is to be tricked by a con artist. It's what they do, and they're good at it. Manipulation is their entire personality, and they know how to make it subtle and they play the long game. He even told me once that he had a fetish about mind control, subliminal messages, and hypnosis. He was actually turned on at the thought of contolling people like puppets.
It took me years before I stopped beating myself up over being "stupid" and falling for his lies, but I can see now that it doesn't matter how smart you are, they can still get to you if they really want to. At the time, I truly believed that HE was the victim and that HE was the good guy right up until the end, so I can sympathize with these people who appeared to have voluntarily followed this guy and trusted him.
I hope they find Sandra and she's okay.

    • @grayovercast

Because it's done on a daily basis. Chipping at a stone. You start telling people things and proving you're right by manipulation.
Case in point, Sandra's son. The lies, the locking the house up. Mentally draining and driving him crazy. On the side he's spreading lies and when her son breaks down at the door since he's had enough, she doesn't see it thay way. She sees an unhinged teen that stole from her and has changed for the worse. She probably believes that still today.
On top of that, physical abuse. Cydnee mentioned he did so to Maria. He punched the one guy prior to the trip as well. Who knows what he's doing to Sandra.
There's definitely more to their stories. You can't get a decade plus of abuse over 45 min. Cydnee's storytelling is great though.
People are usually fearful, and have low self esteem in regards to something about themselves. A con man can see that and play you like a fiddle.
To beat a con man you need to know your weaknesses and not take people on just their word. It's a shame too because he used people's trust for each other against them. Like the college kids, and Sandra and her daughter.

There was something my mother learned in college that I've seen be true time and time again. One of the first (if not the very first) thing an abuser will do is try to remove the family and friends around u. I've seen this happen with ex/friends and family. They r trying to isolate sp that can control u and get away with things that people around u wouldnt allow happen. So if u see someone purposely sabotaging ur relationships with everyone in ur life that is a BIG red flag.

I was in a situation recently where me and my partner were befriended by a registered sex offender. (We obviously didn't know at the time.) We started noticing red flags because of the control thing you spoke about. He needed to control everything: he tried to correct my girlfriend on how she fixed her coffee while we were at his house, would tell us specifically where to sit, told us we could chose a movie and then when we picked one he insisted on another one he wanted instead....they were seemingly little, but altogether it was creepy and overbearing. After that we started to dig into finding out more about him which is when we found him on the registry. 😱

Netflix has sooo many docs. I've watched many. Some stories of the people they feature, I have never heard of. You should do a story about the girl Emanuela Orlandi missing from the Vatican. I didn't watch it in it's entirety. It was hard for me to follow & comprehend, especially when they say things were this/that way & if so, then how? Another interesting & fascinating storytelling. Love your makeup! Thank you for this video & for sharing!

Cyndi you covered this brilliantly, i was unsure it could be done in 45 mins or whatever. I would advise anyone to watch the documentary though, just to get the full weight of the psychological manipulation one person can do. Worse than the cult leaders.
