Janja is a legend but can I just say I also thoroughly enjoy watching seo chaehyun climb. Theres something so calming about the way she climbs. So smooth and relaxed and shes so tiny. Its honestly amazing. I believe she was only 15 at this time too.
This actually might happen in lead. She climbed the highest chimney in Europe and while waiting for her boyfriend (yes, she was faster than him), We could see her with climbing shoes partially off. She was cooling her feet 😂.
She didn’t think much about that chalk bag falling off, she justa looked at her belayer like “leave it, don’t worry” and she went straight back to it!! Amazing confidence!!! Queen!!!
@@davidgutmann143 Yeah, but whenshe first burst onto the scene, first senior world cup in Charmonix, whre she topped the final route and just got 2nd because Mina Markovic` got a better Semi-final result, she was how old? 16? You cannot tell me, that a 16 yo girl had more hard work intus than any other female climber. Janja has the talent + is hard working.
If you look closely she only starts shaking her arms later on. In the beginning she reaches for her bag multiple times. She just got the movement save in her head and only stops it after the first minute or so
I caught the livestream a bit after she started and was "wtf is she climbing with no chalk??". Nice work on the thumbnail "dressing" Janja with the ifsc logo ;)
Sachi Amma became first in semis without chalkbag (Briancon 2014). In the end, he won the comp. But he dropped it halfway up, so yeah, Janja kind of outdid him :D th-cam.com/video/f3THHu8tbkM/w-d-xo.html
Janja positioned her body a tiny bit differently compared to Chaehyun, you can see in the video that Janja put her hip just an inch or two more to the left, which get her right below the last crimp andmade it possible to actually grab it and not swing (you can actually see her adjusting her hip a little bit right after she put her left foot on the last foothold) That's what I think happened, correct me if I'm wrong.
@@DerFrange1 you're right. She smeared with her right foot farther, thus making it possible to get her hips (and her centre of gravity) closer to the wall.
I think she probably climbs alot beter then Magnus , not taking away that magnus is fcking awsom but im pretty sure he wouldnt stand a chance and against a pro men like adam ondra surely not 🤔
That might sound dumb but... I think the body sweats more if it gets used to have chalk than if it doesn't. The only reason why I say that is because I don't use chalk (I don't actually need it). My hands barely never get wet when i climb '^'
Same here. I used it when I started back in 2005. Then when we started going indoor buildering I noticed everyone else chalked so much, I got really dry hands after each session, so I did not chalk when bouldering anymore. Of course I forgot to put the chalkbag back in my backpack when going climbing afterwards and then I noticed, it's not necessary for me outdoor. In fact I think it even blocked me from climbing harder, because you start chalking when you don't need to, wasting time and therefor wasting power. I would recommend trying to go without chalk to everyone, at least try it and see if it works for you. I see so much climbers wasting energy when chalking and being themselves in the way to get a better climber.
@Amatsuichi About 40 to 60m outdoor on an average 6c to 7c else these days indoor it's boulders and sometimes cracks sessions take more or less an afternoon (level is 7b and a bit more when i feel like it, also sorry for my bad english !) @LeSpocky I feel the exact same way !
FWIW, I did up to UIAA 8-/8 or french scale 6b+/6c red point, but I don't see the point in asking that. What keeps me from getting better is missing training in strength and condition, does not have to to anything with wet hands.

Janja: not from a Jedi.

Sachi Anma at the final or semi in Briancon 2014. And he won too !
