At one point he says something that has always made me respect him more, and it was “I may not be able to change the world, but I can change myself”. I don't know why some people are so mad about other players' decision. As a Persona fan myself I am really excited to see people who have different train of thoughts choosing different options than mine. That's what makes this series really exciting.

I missed the sae palace stream so seeing this 1:32:35 - 1:46:04 was giving me anxiety aswell I was yelling at the screen to not sell them out 😭😭 The pancake boy outsmarted you 😞

Despite how crazy and clever this plan was, I can't help but notice some plot holes and that it relied way too much on luck? Like, what if Sae *didn't* show Akechi the phone? Why have Joker, who's been beaten and drugged badly, convince Sae, who still has a Palace, mind you, in the first place? Also, who was supposed to check on Joker and said nothing when he was supposed to have died??? But also, also, why would Joker head back to LeBlanc, a place that is most likely compromised by the police, instead of somewhere like Sae's apartment?
I mean, that's the point, it fits with the casino theme, everyone was gambling in this section, akechis deal acting as the 'fixed gamble' like the games in saes palace, and their dangerous plan as a way to use the cheats to their advantage
okay look I'm going to take the contrary viewpoint to some commenters: I actually think it's very reasonable to not be sure what the game expects you to do when playing blind. Yes, the obvious in-character/moral choice might seem like not selling out your friends, but putting aside that you've established a bond of trust with Sae by this point and that a give-and-take deal might be the best option out, the very fact that the game warns you that these are important choices could get people second guessing whether the game expects you to pick a less obvious thing. Especially since when you see the "is this really the right decision" prompt, you have no way of knowing whether that prompt would also appear for *correct* choices at some point in the conversation. And it's pretty easy imo to also misinterpret "recall your bonds" into an instruction where you have to name everyone you've bonded with, hence recalling who they were. I'm just saying, cut some slack, I'm sure there's plenty of people across the near 10 years this game has been out who made the mistake.

Maybe not directly but I mean we did tell her all the palaces and who was involved. She just didnt believe us during the initial time we told her bc I do remember her repeating names. I specifically remember her getting mad at us for even saying Makoto was somehow tied up in everything.
Ye I think the idea is that Joker never explicitly gave any names. Sae would ask “Who sold you these fake guns? Who taught you acrobatics?” But really Joker never actually answered those questions. From Sae’s POV Makoto was *involved* but isn’t 100% confirmed to be a Phantom Thief herself. She may as well been a Mishima. And all the names Sae listed at the very end, that she wanted Joker to confirm, were based on her own inferences and evidence she gathered beforehand.

Regardless, if she DID have a feeling Makoto couldve been involved, I feel like her actions wouldve been so that she would help him. But that was just my logic and why i thought she wouldve helped us if we told her everything flat out.

Three notes: 1. Makoto breaking down crying telling Sae she'll keep her safe hits different with the context you get a ltitle after- undoubtedly, she was aware that there was the very real risk that their operation could end with Akechi murdering Sae if anything went off script. 2. Fun fact: the Akechi confidant ranks were different in vanilla (don't ask me details I don't know, I played this game while you did), and apparently you got rank 8 when he reveals his true colors and pulls the gun at you because "I feel like I understand Akechi better now". This happens even in the bad ending if you chose to sell out, so it's entirely possible for victorious confidant rank-up music to happen immediately before Joker fucking dies and credits roll. 3. At some point after finishing the game you should look up the various distinct game overs for missing deadlines. One neat part is that all (up until this palace) end with a cutback to present day which ends with an offscreen Akechi (voice distorted by the drugs so the player can't recognize who it is early) dropping the "This is how your justice ends" line and then shooting you. I imagine getting to the reveal hits different for any player who actually somehow fucked up bad enough to see one of those.
LOL! I didn't feel like Sae cared that much about Joker or that she would help. She's a cop and she struggled with it but would have charged Makoto as well. I think Makoto is the same way actually, they're both so broken from everything that happened, that's why Sae has a Palace :)
I mean you dont know for sure if she had it in her to charge Makoto bc we never saw the scenario ever play out or have her explicitly say that. I don't believe she would charge her only family.
