    You don't "hire" rooms. You rent them out for whatever time you're going to use the location. The term hire applies to staff,live entertainment etc...

    • @TayWhyte
      @TayWhyte 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In the UK and Ireland "hire" also means rent- for instance : car, tuxedo, room etc.

    this is great, but I agree with other people who comment regarding "speed". The video default speed is not how people actually talk - it's quite slowed down so students can understand. If you want to practice listening to a more "real conversation" speed, please use 1.25 from the settings (click on the flower-shaped wheel so you can select various settings, either slower or faster than normal).

    • @jungzeworld1624
      @jungzeworld1624 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Caminos B. what accent are they using?

    • @caminosb.1283
      @caminosb.1283 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jungzeworld1624 British "formal"accent. But, as other people and I commented, please try to listen to this at a higher speed and make sure you listen to regular daily English - Use subtitles if you need them, but it's important for all English learners to get used to listening to 'real talk'. Use this lesson just as a guide to correctly pronounce each word, but people don't talk like that in the UK!!

    • @egbieuku3175
      @egbieuku3175 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not actually say it's slowed down. This is mostly how actors speak in films clear, precisely and clearly articulated. If you learning to speak, learn to speak in English in this manner. Trust me your listeners will thank you for it. So much people rush when they speak their English and as a result a lot of the sounds get lost.

    Keep in mind that this is formal speech. I investigated it a little bit and during one segment of speech located at 3:43, with a word count of 28, I measured the time it took to say what he said. It took a little over 9 seconds but if I were to have said it, it would have taken about 6.5 seconds, which means that this audio is perhaps around 70% the speed of how it would play out in reality. In reality it would sound more natural if you speed up the video to 1.25 or even 1.5 speed, as this is more realistic.

    • @milawilliams8236
      @milawilliams8236 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are right, I speeded this video to 1,25 and made sure it sounds more realistic

      William W. Hensley its us who are non native english speakers who will get benefit from such videos. If you are a native speaker I do think you need such lessons. So pls don't ask them to change anything. For me they are talking in the right pace. If faster than this i m afraid I won't get the pronunciation correct in my ears.

    • @aquarius4953
      @aquarius4953 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William W. Hensley I agree with you . Most learners should listen to this video at 1.25x if their level is at least upper intermediate. Now, for some it's certainly better to even slow down in order to catch on. After all this material isn't made for natives.

      Yes, it can. You can pretend to be either the man or the woman speaking and repeat their lines. For example, pretend you are the woman and repeat her lines or pretend you are the man and repeat his lines. I just pretended I was the woman and now I am taking on the role of the man.
