  • In this episode of "Days of Roar," Detroit Tigers top prospect Jackson Jobe joins the show to discuss his 2024 MLB debut, offseason adjustments for two-strike counts, pitch development and personal/team goals for the 2025 season, among many other things. As one of MLB's top five prospects, Jobe is projected to join the Tigers' Opening Day starting rotation in 2025. Evan and Mark also dive into the Alex Bregman saga with new insight from Houston Astros beat writer Chandler Rome of The Athletic. The Astros re-entered the race to re-sign Bregman, putting their old six-year, $156 million offer on the table again. Could the Tigers counter with a more lucrative offer to bring him to the team? Hear how Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal's endorsement might sway the Bregman decision. Aside from Bregman, is there any hope for a reunion with Jack Flaherty?

    Carlos Estévez (32, Phillies)
The 6-foot-6 former Angels closer was an All-Star in 2023 and was largely dominant again in 2024 (0.91 WHIP) before a so-so three playoff appearances for the Phillies. An 86% save percentage the past two years, and induces enough weak contact to be a high-leverage guy of various stripes.

Great arguments for signing Bregman and my favorite pitcher, Jack Flaherty. The problem is the importance of actually signing quality players versus the safety of doing nothing. There's talent out there (or was out there, window is closing) to sign or trade. Or, do nothing, and risk not going back to the playoffs, because that's what 2025 could turn into.

Not a long-shot for Astros to sign Bregman, a sure-shot. The Tigers may as well start rummaging for castoffs and dead-enders,

They are NOT signing Bregman. I hope they sign Flaherty.
