After I retired from teaching, my former coworkers would ask me what I was doing now that I was retired. My answer always was, "I do what you would do if you weren't working." I knit, make greeting cards, and cross stitch. I do force myself to clean for just a bit each morning and then I don't feel guilty for crafting the rest of the day.

And I am anxious to decorate a metal wreathe from my wide assortment of fat quarters. I can see a lot of embellishment possibilities with it, too. Roberta, lots of fun ahead for you. It's your time to do whatever you want to do. Bliss just happens to be my "word to live by". My itch to stitch fall has been ensabled by watching and isn't that a wonderful part of friendship? I have a headstart on my bee skep collection. It was a popular theme to cross stitch in the 80s so I have some older patterns waiting for their turn. Thank you for continuing to inspire and make me feel excited about my passion.

I decided to start Feast of Friendship and stitch with you. I've had it ready to go for a while. It really isn't as big as you think. Thats not lip gloss in your box, it's thread conditioner that looks like lip gloss. I found it on etsy and will try it when it comes.

I love when Linnie shares about her time with Ike in Amsterdam. It reminds me of when my husband and I backpacked in Europe for our honeymoon in 1981 (just a few years ago LOL)! And Roberta enjoy those beautiful grandchildren and your new routine in retirement. As Sharon shared in her comment, enjoy your time relaxing - it is well earned. Referring to Christmas stitching makes me realize that it will be here before we know it.

@@linnieisenburg520 We also started in Germany, then went to Switzerland, France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden , Norway and then back to Germany. We mostly stayed in youth hostels, cheap pensions and ate from the open air markets and bakeries. It was one of the best times in my life. I love that you saw Pink Floyd in the Amsterdam Square. What an experience that must of been!
We were married in 1980 but went on a fishing trip to Canada. We were not as adventurous back then.

I retired from nursing in 2015 after 40 years at the same hospital. I remember leaving on my last day shedding a very few tears, gave all my scrubs away the next day and never looked back. I did not plan anything for about 3-6 months. Every day was a new day, a surprise and very fun. Don’t get bogged down on needing something to do or thinking you have to have something to do every day, just let the day lead you. Your travels to the grandkids should be fun and no need to rush home! Congrats and enjoy!

Congrats on retirement. I retired 2 years ago from my local hospital after 45 years. I do not have a LNS so everything I get is either online or my local Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Joanns. My daughter and grandaughter also cross stitch so they are my only fellow stitches. I would like to be able to have other fellow stitches to sit, stitch and have good fellowship. I have an ITCH to have a BEE SKEP. Also congrats on 7,000 followers. Have a good few weeks.❤😊❤

I just attended the county fair with my sister and there were several cross stitched pieces, so that's probably a good way to find out about other stitchers!

Roberta, I stitched A Study in Blue by Sue Hillis in the called for color and I love it. Regarding stitching groups, ours has grown from 2 to 16. We actually talked about not adding more as the locations we stitch at would not accommodate a larger group.
Thanks Marla! Someone at our table said they'd seen it as a finished piece and that it was really wonderful, so I'd like to get it finished within the next year. Our stitch group added a second session every month. Some people like to come when there are fewer people there and some attend both sessions.

Another wonderful video with my two friends. At least that's how it feels when I watch you two. Was poignant listening to you talk about your honeymoon, Linnie , as the day I was watching would have been my parents 57th wedding anniversary. Dad died in 2020 from a snake bite.

Woohoo! Being retired is strange at first, but you’ll learn to love it! You’ll have a blast at Summer School! I chose not to go this year, but I’m going in November! Linnie in a month we’ll get to meet! My fall is super busy, but I’m getting excited! Our kids have been in school starting since the 21st of July. They’ve rolled out over the last three weeks!!! I’m so glad I’m retired! I remember not starting until after Labor Day.
The only thing better than Christmas is the bliss of friendship. ❤

There are so many great retreats it's impossible to get to all of them. We've heard from a few people about their kids going back to school in July. The kids probably don't like it!

Happy retirement. I retired last year and started stitching again. Happy, stitch, Christmas!
When I was talking to one of our directors at my staff party who is about my age she mentioned she was getting back into stitching, so I think that;s pretty common. There's so much to tempt!
