The Okanagan Valley is a wonderful hot spot of beauty for all to experience.
I have some similar family memories from the early 1970's, visiting relatives in Kelowna and Peachland BC. From boating, fishing and swimming in Kelowna to dropping in at a older cousin's small fruit farm in Peachland who had apple and cherry trees. They made apple cider that we enjoyed and we were given a load of cherries to take along on our travels.

As a new immigrant from Scotland, I was invited to go to Haynes point with a family in the late 60's. They had two sons of my age. It was an amazing time and a trip that I have never forgotten. Camping on Haynes point was like being on a desert island

Thank you Francois once again for using your skills to preserve/digitize more of our valuable family films, it is such a pleasure to see them again after so many years, they look better now than I can recall.

My grandmother lived in Oroville and I used to hunt for arrowheads in the hills above lake Osoyoos in the early 1950s. We lived in Seattle and would take the train to Oroville. Also my best friend from high school was a Wilkie, his dad was a German Professor at UW.

In the mid 1960s we stayed at Surf Side Motel and the Poplars Motel. They had wicker basket chairs outside each unit like what was pictured here (was that Surf Side?). Also there was a big plastic basin beside each door that you filled with fresh water and stepped in to before entering the units so as to keep sand out!

Similar to my childhood summer holidays. Some were spent near Penticton, more though were spent at Blind Bay on Shuswap.

This has to be Super 8, the image quality is too good for regular 8.

This is indeed just regular Kodachrome 8mm (simply the best film of it's day), our cinematographer, a school teacher and accomplished photographer, knew how to operate his camera, his settings were spot on. Working with the nearly 60 year old film, the Retro-Scan system I employ does a remarkable job of 2k scanning, however, there's a bit of processing in Final Cut to bring out the colours, correct luma and black levels. Thank you for the complement. 🙂

Melancholy memories of a bygone era. A simpler time in a wonderful country. Before the Trudeaus wrecked it.

That is crazy. It took thousands of people over time to wreck it.
