I'm glad to know this. The only thing that was stopping me from voice recording was I have no means to turn my house into a soundproof Studio.

I'm actually blown away by how good that sounds. I don't drive but I'll have to give it a go with my recorder next time I visit the rents

+rorkimaru pretty crazy right? It's all about the dynamic mic, which is much more suited to this environment than a condenser mic.

It's so crazy to see that you made a video about this because I was just thinking about this today actually.

Mike, I've only just found you yesterday and I've binge-consumed your videos. You are fantastic and the information you are sharing is priceless. Thanks so much! :-)

Outstanding! Innovation and creativity. I'm blessed to have a garage for our cars also, so I simply MUST give the mic a spin in the car in the garage. I've already converted a walk-in closet and set-up my mic stand based upon your previous videos. Blessed regards, thanks a million!

Car was my first thought about trying to get into voice over work! Glad you tested this out and proved my theory.

I did some voice recording in my car yesterday! It worked pretty solid! Only issue is that it's raining today, and I can't imagine it'll be easy to reduce that background noise.

You can use a MIDI audio interface like Focusrite and powered by USB port on the car. It can be connected to your phone or tablet and use apps like Audio Evolution. You can use any condensor mics even plug your guitar into it. But make sure to get out of the car for every 15 minutes for some fresh air.

Great video! Question is, how much of a quality difference is there between attaching the SM58 versus using the stock H5 mics? Thanks!

Damn! Take my subscribe! I'd love some tips on post processing! Recording isn't much of an issue for me anymore, but acoustics are still finicky.
My main issue is processing, filters, any cleanup work...that kinda stuff, just to make it work out and go with whatever media I'm voicing over.

+Superthrust Thanks for the Subscribe! I have a couple post processing videos up. Check out my Noise Gate video, and EQ video. Happy make more videos if there is anything specific you're wondering about.

After study about how to start with expensive mics, acoustic treatment rooms and so on, I never imagine that a car can meet the requirements for an acoustic treated space, even that I have worked in the automotive industry. :-S

Well, it does reduce reverberation but comb filtering gets mad. Not a good place for recording vocals.

I really want to give this a go, but I'm wondering how you have the mic stand setup. Any chance you could post a picture of how it's arranged on the (I assume) center console?

    • @BoothJunkie
      @BoothJunkie  8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

+ViperX83 That's exactly right. Its just a basic "Desk Mic Stand" (this one: amzn.to/1WReiRm) about a foot tall sitting on the armrest between the seats, with a boom arm (this one: amzn.to/1OiisLa) on it that puts the mic closer to the back seat.

I used OnePlus mobile and Samsung Galaxy S5 mobile for recording in Ecosport car. It absolutely muffles background noise. Some female voice recordings came out well with Bass Boost +5 at the recording stage. 1. But some of the recordings came out Boomy (as if Iam talking in Stairs or Well). How can the same place give different output in back-to-back recordings? How to remove the Reverb ? What are the setting levels that you use? 2. Also, since its a closed car, sometimes the ear gets blocked and due to that, some parts of the vocal sounds Nasal. If I keep the AC on, that sound gets into the audio. If I keep 10% window open, then outside noise gets into the audio. How to avoid Nasal sound (or) How to remove Nasal sound in the audio?

I record in my car when I wanna use my sm57 since in my apartment it picks up a 60hz hum that I can't get rid of

  • @shellirk2819

This is a really good setup! What can I do about the way words ending with the "s" sound. I don't know how to describe what I'm talking about, but you're producing the sound I'm talking about. It's just frustrating to me. Is it coming from the way the mic picks it up or is it something entirely different?

Speak off axis not directly into the mic, beside it.
