Damn I didn't even know this was a cover until just several years ago. Don't get me wrong, Amy Grant's original version was good and pure sounding, having an innocence to it that gives it greatness. JakeMikeTroy, I think she sometimes does gets caught up in the moment and that makes her do vocal gymnastics that she wouldn't normally do. I don't think it's "planned" because she tends to hit songs and then doesn't hit them in that same way later performances. The crowed was getting into her.

Kelly does a great job with her personalized rendition. Btw, if you are looking for an outstanding traditional version of the song without the embellishments, Amy Grant does a wonderful rendition of "Grown Up Christmas List."
