My Enchanted Tiki Room Talking Tiki Tribute Project

- I spent the last year working on a project as a tribute to one of my favorite shows, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. All the parts were designed by me and 3D printed using my Lulzbot Mini printer.
The fact that you made the eyes blink one at a time makes this 10 times more impressive! 😂
This why TH-cam needs to eliminate the stupid thumb down option. This is Brilliant!!
Simply amazing. I love the tiki room. Brilliant recreation
I stand in complete awe of your brilliance. You have won the internet and 3d printing in one fell swoop.
I try :) ;)
Thanks!
I so want to buy that!!!! I love it!!! AWESOME JOB!!!!
Thank you!
thats GREAT!! former cast member. you nailed it. I am so happy right now... haha
Jim this is dedication and also from what I have watched is a passion for you, very impressive. It is amazing to watch all the step it took to create this tribute project. I have never been involved in such a project but I have had to work out very difficult solutions in my career, so I give you kudos for teaching others and also your artistry. I would like to chat with you via phone , text or email which ever is easier for you. Have a great day
Absolutely incredible! Freaking awesome! Pure Genius!
Magicalfrontier thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
That is an incredible piece right there
Salty Cadet Thank you!
Been such an amazing project man. Loved to watch every step of the process.
That's just so amazing. You did a really great job of that... wow-za! Congratulations!
Garth Howe thank you’
This is a great project!
Mandi Gould thanks! Glad you liked it! :)
love this, starting on your eyes as my first project with servos. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love this!!!!! I want one for my bar!!!
Jim, that's pretty cool!
Looks and sounds amazing! Wonderful job
It was great meeting you and seeing this in person at MRRF!!
Thanks Ben! I finally got the supports out of the tiki mug :D I love it! Thanks so much again! Since it's haunted mansion, I guess I should get a couple dead flowers to put in it and keep it on my desk at work lol.
Wow!!! So incredible. You are a genius!!!
This is Amazing!!!!!
jirayasama7 thank you! I really appreciate it!
I’d SO love to build this as a kit. I built Mr. Chicken’s Raven animatronic. I can’t imagine how you fit all the servos in there.
And while I can 3d Print on my Prusa well enough, I can’t figure out 3D design for the life of me.
Wow that's freaking sweet man of course this is the only Disneyland thing that I care about so the more videos of this attraction as well as its legacy and history behind it really is a magical attraction isint it
Bro so how did you make this do you mind letting me know you dont have to tell me right away at least but when you do get a chance then could you let me know thanks your the best also keep up the great work with stuff like this
So cool man any chance we can get the 3D model files and an electronics list. My son has Autisim and loved the Tiki hut in Disney Land and I would like to replicate somthing like this for him.
Amazing, makes me want one. I wonder how hard it would be to make one with all 4 sides animated? Cause that would be crazy, could choreograph them to each take certain parts of the song, and really mimic the old Tiki Room. ;D
NikoKun simple. It was more a size limitation of my printer at the time.
I'm speechless 😲
Thanks :D That means a lot. I'm quite happy with it! Lots of work but an excellent result in the end!
Is there any way you would share these files? I know you put in such hard work but It would be so nice.
If you do ever decide to make more/sell any... well, holding my place on the waiting list. Even a full tutorial might be helpful.

Your wish is granted.
I love it!!
That is AWESOME! I can tell a whole lot of effort went into it. Excellent job. Any chance you have a build log or shareable model for 3D printing?
Scott Adams my current plan is to release some videos discussing the general concepts of how my tiki works.
I’m of the mentality “teach a man to fish”.
Plus there’s the whole issue of releasing Disney IP where it can be a legal issue :) stay tuned!
Sounds like a good plan, I've subscribed to your channel so I can see what you come up with. Teach /this/ man to fish!
@@jim2386 do you have the stls for this? Im working on the drummers and birds roght now. This would be awesome to make
Brilliant!
Do you make and sell these?? I'd be interested in purchasing one if you make them to sell.
Hi Jim, This is fantastic, will you be releasing the STL files.
Hey Matt,
As I was telling people at MRRF this year, I've been struggling with this for a while.
1. Technically the characters belong to the House of Mouse so there's the issue of releasing files whose IP belongs to someone else. It's an ethical issue for me.
2. Once they're released, there's no going back. What would really kill me is if I released them for free....a year of pretty much nightly work, and I go online one day and someone is offering to print the files for a couple hundred bucks.
So after much thought, what I've promised to do is the following:
If you look on my channel, i'm currently doing a series of videos describing how to make recordible audio animatronics. I go through the exact electronics and how to assemble them, how to build the eyeballs, how to build the input devices, and soon, once I move houses next week, I'll be releasing the code.
The eyeballs are the exact ones that are in my Egore project. The electronics are the exact electronics that are in Talking Tiki (minus the audio board, but that's trivial). The code is the exact code from both of those projects, just cleaned up and simplified so people can really understand what's going on inside.
My thought is that it's probably MUCH more valuable to the community if I release controls and software that TEACH how I do these things versus giving away a specific model and saying "Just build this and it will work".
This also gives the community to understand how to program servo movements that they can attach to ANYTHING their mind can come up with...whether it be Tiki, RC car rear spoiler, eyeball, or perhaps a talking pirate skull from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride!
In the end, it solves the ethical dilemma, keeps some of my projects kinda special to me, AND I still help the maker community and hopefully push home audio animatronics forward a little.
I know at MRRF 2018 that A LOT of kids and adults really want to build the eyeball demo. It's coming soon and I hope people get a lot of knowledge and enjoyment and family time out of building them.
You can see them being demoed on Joel Telling's latest video here:

Is there a tutorial or files/parts list to be able download or purchase for this project? Thanks!
That is freaking amazing and where can I send my check!!
Cutelatinguy2 I’ll set up an off shore bank account. Give me some time. Please make the check out to “cash” ;);) :):)
Kinda wished the Other four Face could sing
The Top of the 2 Sides singing the same as the One In the bottom of the middle side, and The Bottom one’s singing the top’s Part
Wow 😍😍😍
The Rowian Region thanks!
How do you make it rock?
Love this 👍👍👍👍
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!
Have you or are you able to share the STL files for the parts? I have an 11 year old that just watched this and now has a mission.
maybe disney will hire you so they don't have to sue you lmao
Bearded Jack Rolly Crump saw it and gave his approval. Since he designed it, I’m in the clear ;)
@@jim2386 so you can share the files?
That is amazing... can one be acquired by normal humans?
Could you make one so I can buy?
I want one. Want to make another?
umm...where can I buy?
Where can I buy one
Is it possible to show us how you 3d modeled this ?
Puremadness any part in particular?
jim2386 howdy ! the base everything connects to is what has me curious , especially with how much void space you provided for the interior of the model
Also just to get a sense about how your 3D modding process would help me wrap my mind about how I can approach this project
Thanks for your time
Excuse me I have a question
Can you make the other sides sing too?
i'ma litten meow sure
@@jim2386 wow ok
Are you planning on selling?
Robert Melton this one? No. Passion project. :)
jim2386 totally understand. I have a 3 year old who loves the Tiki room and watches this video alot.=) if you ever decide to make another let me know
The top tiki guy's mouth is not showing
Thanks for noticing, Tim.
