I remember when this suddenly started playing at the fight with Ambassador and Seiryu appeared, our trio was just panicing and switching prayers just to realize that he wasn't attacking us - he was healing us and killing the small minions. Day of release boss fights are always the best! :D Made me realize how iconic this soundtrack is to the boss, and nowadays it's one of my favorite rs soundtracks
I love coming back to hear this track, the situation my friends and I felt when this played was after realizing the black stones on his neck and his extraordinary health heal was, "we're not supposed to kill him.. we're supposed to save him!"
I remember feeling this too. Like as soon as I saw him say "DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU CAN SAVE ME?!" I legit yelled out loud in the VC with my mates "wait...holy shit, we're supposed to fucking save him!" Equally, when he returned in the Ambassador fight, I legit yelled out "Oh my God, YEEEEEES!"
thematically the first ED is really good, the sheer fact that you can see Seiryu his serpentine body in the water in the middle of the dungeon is such a fun little detail and it shows how absolutely massive Seiryu is. while I love the Seiryu fight, I dispise the Sanctum guardian and masuta fight and I dont run ed1 as often as it really doesnt drop anything special other than the scales
@@solar7427 thematically and narratively it's the best of the three. Infiltrating what was once a holy cult with Buddhist themes and realizing they've been compromised up to the leadership, and now associste with crab zealots, shady sells words, and dangerous mercenaries. Than you kill their great 'ascended' master just to learn the diety they're supposed to revere has Imprisoned for who knows how long.
I like to imagine at the weekly Acolytes of Seiryu band practice you have like 6 units just banging in drums the size of a door, theres dudes playing horns and one madman standing on top of Seiryu shredding a guitar like the Doof Warrior in Mad Max. I would join that cult.
I actually use music like this to help me come up with plot points in my D&D campaigns, and I know EXACTLY what I wanna do with this piece and how it fits in. RS has been a huge inspiration today =D
Back when me and my brother went to the temple of amnishi, i was weak i couldn’t do a thing. Now i am strong. Yet this is unfortunate because he quit the game. Back to solo gameplay.
When you get the second black crystal to half life and seiryu wakes up while this music goes off, I gotta say seiryu fight is insane especially the second fight Seiryu music goes so perfect with the fight
Ok so heres some tips! Stand on the left side of the area facing towards the sanctum guardian, he will do a spray attack that goes counter clockwise which can be easily avoided. The ranged attacks can also be avoided by stepping aside (they look like purple boomerangs). He will spray a bit of water on you and you will get a blue bar underneath your andrenaline bar and in that time a purple mist will spawn on you. Move it somewhere you wont run into. If you're soloing, kill the crassians that spawn at the three times throughout the kill (forgot the hp amount) so you can res safely when you cant get to the left side of his water spray in time or safely.
This boss is even more cathartic with the release of necromancy in my opinion. Now when you enter the fight, necromancy is what put seiryu in this position to begin with, now you use the dead to right the wrongs of the villians who did this to them. Kinda poetic if you ask me.
I've listened to this on repeat for the last 2 weeks at the gym. Probably over 100 listens by now, this is such a well composed piece, and that guitar solo blew my mind. People can shit on it all they'd like, but I think it's way more fitting than the dubstep bullshit they threw in for the Heart of Gielinor bosses.
(Doing Curse of the Black Stone) Me (reads the instructions for this boss not carefully enough): Ok so I need to lower his life points to (something) and then destroy the crystals on his back. (The Shackled Serpent soundtrack plays and Seiryu collapses) Me:Yay, I beat him! This wasn't hard (proceeds to destroy half of one crystal on his back) (Soundtrack switches to this one and Seiryu re-awakans) Me: Oh sh*t...
Pretty decent track (although the stock trumpet sound playing the exact same note over and over again can be a bit much). The main melody reminds me of another song, but I'm not sure which one.
From fighting all 3 final bosses now it’s come to my attention those “ trumpets” have this odd distorted tearing to their sound that gets used during all 3 fights. I’m starting to think it’s intentionally grating like that to signify a bit of madness and otherworldly horror sort of like a drowning sound that slowly drives you nuts.
Am I the only one to find that the electric guitar solo mid track feels completely out of place? I mean, it sounds really cool but when I heard it during my first Seiryu's encounter, it completely broke the "Asian-medieval" feel of the dungeon. I won't say I was shocked, but rather disappointed. On the other hand, the sudden change to "Chaos of corruption" in the middle of the fight felt so incredible! I wasn't expecting that at all but it felt so unexpected and fitting given the encounter situation at that precise moment of the fight. On a side note, I find the in-game version of "Chaos of corruption" much less "high-pitched" (not to say "ear-bleeding") than the one Yann posted here on TH-cam. It's maybe a matter of compression, I don't know.
Funnily enough I'm usually not one to say that instrumentation should be constrained if it works. The electric guitar works. But it's quite jarring alongside the rest of the track and the theme it's going for. With the ED2 soundtrack, I had no issue with heavy distorted electric guitar because it's creatively used to fit the theme and sound of Runescape to a degree. However here it really is just a normal electric guitar sound which to me sounds like it doesn't have a place in this track.
I see your point. However, I disagree, and here's why: Electric guitars are featured in modern-day music. We live in the modern day which is our reality. This dungeon takes place in a far-off world that is completely removed from our normal experiences. Fighting this thing feels very alien. Not much of the game represents the "asian-medieval" feel as much as in the Temple of Aminishi. So as you go through the dungeon, you have fun going through this alien world that isn't what we are used to. During the final fight, you get the same feeling. You're like "what the heck is this giant dragon serpent" and everything just seems like it's another fun little medieval scenario. Then the corruption happens. You can see that Seiryu is not some sort of dragon bad guy, but a long-lost victim of an ancient evil that still persists in the game's present. The guitar snaps you back to the modern day. Our reality. This is no longer a fight against some old monster. This is another fight of good versus evil, and we know how that fight must end :)

You freed him from his corruption, remember?
The title takes on a whole new meaning when it plays during the Ambassador boss fight and Seiryu comes in and heals you mid-fight.
"You will forever be the light in my darkness"
It was so badass i still get goosebumps just thinking about it
I wish it was the guitar part, but agreed. That shit was kino.

From fighting Elvarg in 2003 to here everybody. Wish anyone enjoyed the ride as I did.
I know I did brother
I don't really play anymore and I started in 05, but I never regretted any moment of it. It's been a real blast.
Ride's still going brother. Keep your arms inside the vehicle.
EGWD sends its regards.

Incredible song and very intense when you play with it on. Makes the fight more fun, IMO.
I've used this for so many D&D sessions. This song is awesome.
Im tempted to use it for one of my D&D sessions im going to be dming.

Seiryu music goes so perfect with the fight
Someone needs to mix Shackled Seprant > Chaos of Corruption > Deliverance into one track
Seiryu the Colossus of water and protector deity of Aminishi vs two dudes with an iron spear and battle-axe.
I think the one in the back has a Chaotic Maul. Still, gl with that vs Seiryu xD

Yeah Clawdia but edgier took me more tries than any of the other ED2 bosses.
Though you can skip her with a fishy treat

Naa what makes Seiryu the true bro is the heal at Ambi when you're wrecking the squid.
I personally deslike or just feel meh about Elite Dungeons musics, but this one is really good
I love this dungeon and the money I earn from it
Badass ending

I took on this beast solo with low tier stuff and having almost no experience of how eoc works. My brother asked if I could it.
I did. Sweaty though.
So this kicks ass.
Theme of good water doggo

This track makes me think of Dark Matter 02 from Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, lol

that there is the sound of a real orchestra
some of the trumpets are muted, that's the sound you're hearing
This wouldn't sound out of place as Ryu's theme in SF6.

Nathan Runescape's in game music is fairly low compared to the sound effects and ambience so yeah its nowhere near as bad in game.
