  • Talk 1: Developing the Skilled Technical Workforce in Regenerative Medicine
    Description: The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Forsyth Technical Community College and Simon G. Atkins High School (Winston-Salem, NC) have partnered in a NSF ATE project to develop a regional model for skilled technician workforce development in regenerative medicine biomanufacturing. Primary activities include (1) K-12, community college, and universities (with articulated programs) faculty development in RM; (2) dissemination of knowledge of new discovery and innovation and research-based KSA’s for the RM field to community colleges and their academic and industry partners; and (3) the design and implementation of multiple career entry options for community college-prepared technicians and career progression pathways for incumbent employees with a particular focus on underrepresented minorities .

    Talk 2: Biotech-Careers.org: A new skills database and Biotechopoly™ - a game for learning
    Description: This talk will have two foci: the new skills database in Biotech-Careers.org and Biotechopoly™ Antibody Edition. The skills database shows which skills are needed for different careers. The game helps teach business concepts in biotechnology and the importance of Quality Systems and Good Manufacturing Practices.
