Jimmy white at his pinnacle 1991 I think I'm correct in saying he was World number one during this period. Favourite player of all time, 👍😀 a genius at times.
Shocking that this tournament used to be called the Masters warmup event even though it was a ranking tournament and most of the last 32 could not compete at the Masters.
Tbf he did beat hendry in the 88 and 98 world championships although they wasn't in the finals. I guess he just felt the pressure alot more in the actual final itself whereas stephen even at such a young age was just the best player in the world who could handle pressure even with the crowd against him in favour of jimmy
Not that unimportant a meeting. It was a ranking final after all. Hendry never seemed to win many of those ITV tournaments at the time. Most of those events on ITV counted towards the rankings.
@dvidclapperton the only ITV events Hendry would win at this time were the 1988 and 1991 British Opens. He could never get his hands on the Mercantile or the Matchplay
Considering snooker is about potting balls on a table, it's been reasonably good prize money since the 80's. Snooker prize money can't be related to sports where risk of personal injury, or even death is a greater risk. Top 16 players generally turn out to be millionaires so it's about right. Excessive money in sport just spoils everything and only leads to greater corruption.
take a look at this shot choice from Jimmy and tell me why these are the kind of shot choices that never won him a world title and probably one of the reasons why he only won 9 ranking titles 35:25
I agree with what your saying but he loved to entertain and he could never refuse a pot , his whole game plan was about attack! And that’s what had everyone on the edge of their seats ! But the man should have won 10 world titles with the talent he had !!
What are you on about ! If you actually look you’ll see the red is actually touching the cushion which makes the pot a lot easier with guaranteed position on the black . Jimmy just didn’t hit it
1992 is the world championship that he should have won. He played better snooker than anyone......right up to his 14-8 lead over Stephen Hendry in the final. Then he let the pressure get to him :(
Were they fuck I played on match tables back then and the were tight as fuck just like today trying to pot a red along the back cushion that was a couple of mm from tight was near impossible
Your right , I play on a pro table in my club and the difference is unbelievable. Everything has to be bang in the middle of the pocket or it spits the ball out ! Why do people keep talking about how the tables are so easy these days ??
Wish it happened just once in those Sheffield finals 😞
Yeah. Especially 1992 when he lead 12-6 and 14-8. He looked unassailable.
Na he had us all fooled,he's a botlter & not a nice person the way he treats his manager. Not even in the top 10 of all time Snooker players.
One of my favourite players of all time
When Jimmy is focused hes a amazing player
Takes me back to sitting in my Nanas house. She loved snooker. I would of been 10 yrs old. ❤
The interview with the players at the end of the match is gold. Even in victory, Stephen Hendry lived in Jimmy's head for free.
wow 30 years ago.. I can't believe it's been 30 years TIME HAS GONE SO QUICK
Great players, Jimmy one of my favourites, Stephen young, all class, greatest player ever with the likes of Rockin the Rocket Ronnie O'sullivan.

No he was ranked no 4 at the time and this was the only ranking title he won that season.
Jimmy’s highest ranking was number two in the world during his career during the 1987/88 season
White was briefly provisional world number one about 1993, but never ended a aeason officially as world number one.
Shocking that this tournament used to be called the Masters warmup event even though it was a ranking tournament and most of the last 32 could not compete at the Masters.
Even the greats av off days at snooker... just 1 of those things... and he gives credit too jimmy, for playing well and beating him...
Jimmy White !
Really looking great snooker player!
Jimmy your the best mate. I love watching you play.
Jimmy what a player
White always touched the back of his head after he made a mistake, and then proceeded to light up a cigarette once he got back to his chair.
Great vid mate thanks for posting it, wasn't too often Jimmy got the better of Hendry like this.
Proof that Hendry wasn't unbesten more or less against White in the 1990's.
What’s that trophy... a cheese grater?
Shephen was younger then Jimmy then, now in reverse . Shephen looked so old now
An amazing natural talent always the greatest
1:49:24 Jimmy's career right there
0:58 Hendry had all the crumpet on his side
0:58 Hendry was into saggy granny's and watching them lez off, they were at his hotel after the game....
Yeah his snooker balls got them all flustered with excitement!
I think 35 frames was always too much for Jimmy's attention. Still, the greatest I have ever seen. Ronnie very close!
Ronnie is in a different league to Jimmy. Jimmy was great but not close to Ronnie.
You can see 9 - 0 and loses the next 4. Jimmy always had that let up attitude, even when playing his best
Jimmy never beat hendry when it really mattered 4 world finals lost but beat him in world matchplay first to 18

Wow, £60,000 in 1991,
Amazing. Especially when you could buy 2 houses for 30k worth around 350k each now

Oh I remember that awful intro :D
Do u have 1993 British open.
Could hardly believe that
People's champion forever
Alex Higgins was the people champion.
The wonder Bairn had Jimmys no !
😂
👕👍 *Jimmy should have won: 1992 & 1994 World Title!* 🏃💨
👖
Yes he should have
@@johnlegend3218 Yes Braaadddeeeer!
@@Geena-tn1pt Agree but never the less he had a chance to win!
Jimmy White missed a few chances too
It's hardly the World's is it?
@@paulr6881 No are you a Hendry fan?
So
I've seen 6 year-olds play better frames of snooker that the 12th here - absolutely appalling
Hendry's face lol

He has won 10 ranking titles to my knowledge but sort of agree with you.
Yeah I agree he was more of a Jackie Chan than a Bruce Lee lol
What are you on about ! If you actually look you’ll see the red is actually touching the cushion which makes the pot a lot easier with guaranteed position on the black . Jimmy just didn’t hit it
It was the wrong angle to get the right pace on the slow roll along the cushion.
Hezza is usually good at snooker.
the table was slow in 90s.....
He should’ve won worlds in 1991
Maybe, Parrott played very well in the first session to go 7 nil up and that was that
He should have won 2 or 3 World titles with correct preperation
Hi John. Get up there. Coys
No chance. Parrott was way too good that year. Jimmy should have won the 17 each year against Hendry and the 14-8 final is probably more accurate.
1992 is the world championship that he should have won. He played better snooker than anyone......right up to his 14-8 lead over Stephen Hendry in the final. Then he let the pressure get to him :(
Stephen looks like alison Fisher
rad
Mistake by ref 1:04
Hendry overrated . We love you Jimmy
Huge pockets

The players maybe definitely not the table
The 9 ball pockets are really huge.
Rubbish!
That intro was terrible 😂
