I love all theirs accents, English isn't my native language so for me Zayn's accent is the hardest to understand and Harry's is probably the easy one 'cause he talks so slow hah
That "o" instead of "a" sound, like in "chonce" instead of "chance" by Niall!! Trust me, I was waiting for you to point this out throughout the video!

I expected Tom would say about "a" that my two Irish friends pronounce as "o". Not "but", but [bot], not "culture", but [coulche]. It interesting cause they don't even notice that they speak different.

I’m Irish that’s not part of any accent in Ireland , he modified the word for the song he doesn’t go around pronouncing chance that way in any of his songs in heartbreak weather and nobody substitutes the a sound for o in Ireland
@@estersmejova Absolutely nobody in Ireland says Chonce. We are so sick of people saying we do because Niall modified the word for a song and now everybody who has never been to Ireland never heard any Irish person other than Niall speak thinks they know exactly how we speak. Niall doesn’t say chonce once in heartbreak weather or when speaking outside of singing . Please stop assuming that is how we speak

I’m from Germany and in my school nearly no student can pronounce the “th-“, guess I’m from Ireland now :)
In fact only some Irish people say 'dis dat dese and dose', it is a feature that other irish people deplore. We had a Prime Minister (Taoiseach) who spoke like that and everyone made fun of his accent - he had elocution lessons to correct it, but never managed to. Very few people, however, pronounce the 'th' sound exactly as English people do, it is usually a little harder, more dentalized, but not to the extent that it is implied here.

I'm a native English speaker (with an interest in linguistics) but I've still learned so much from this 1D series. Thank you for taking the time to address each of the boys and give names to the phenomena we fans had formerly been only semi-aware of. :))
I love Ireland and Irish people. They're great. I remember once I was in western Ireland and we ask directions to a countryman and he only could speak Gaelic and it was awesome to listening to their traditional language

There is a video of Niall that I think has the thickest accent he has ever had. It's a video of him with his cousin playing rugby in the hotel and I used to not be able to understand it but now after many years of hearing Niall I can. Great Video!!

I love the accents of all the 1D boys but Mr Styles' in particular ❤️ - and it makes me so sad it seems like he's losing it a bit. 😥
That's what happens with all accents when people move away but, speaking from experience, it's amazing how fast they revert to their accent when speaking to others from their home town/country.
Harry has lost most of his Cheshire accent now, and is very Americanised, due to spending most of his time there

Niall's accent sounds like American to me. I don't speak English and I understand what he saying the most than the rest of 1D members. I mean, his pronunciation is clear, not too thick like most British people do.

The changing for TH sound back to a D sound is largely dependent on the word you just said beforehand. I say hings instead of things, however if I am beginning the sentence with the word things I keep the th.

I've noticed when a "t" comes at the end of a word, Irish people don't quite pronounce it, or don't pronounce it all the way. It's not the glottal stop, it's different.
you are right, it's a very soft sound, approaching a 'sh' - you are good at spotting subtle differences!
