One of your best restoration / upgrade projects.
This project should be called, ‘Lazarus’ !
The owner of these shoes is going to be thrilled. Contrary to what you predicted, these look better and are much better than new. He must have been a great boss to have some one think of him in this way. I really like to special projects that you do.
I thought the same. He must've been a really good boss to work under.
Thought the same thing as well. Either a surprise 'thank you' for being an extraordinary boss/mentor or the most ingratiating thing I've ever witnessed. Beautiful restoration and hopefully as beautiful of a gesture - depending on rhyme and reason.
Hope he didn't want a Patina look but the restoration is beautiful

You’re an artist sir! Imagine having your very favourite pair of shoes, which you’ve worn to death, because you like them so much, given a whole new lease of life, as though they were new. Everyone’s dream!
This is about as close as a shoe restoration can get to turning water into wine! Stunning transformation, Steve.
Come on now Steve your killing me with this one ❤ this isn’t the work of a normal cobbler or a master cobbler this is the work of an Artisan truly amazing and at $600 the owner got a bargain thanks Steve 😊
Things I like about Bedo's leatherwork videos:
- Stitches being cut with a knife of unknown sharpness
- Shaky hands that look like they're about to make a mistake but somehow don't

I'll add on:
- sharpening his razor blades for the extra "bite"
- running out of thread / dropping things on cue
- coffee time / hammer time / high-pitched comment rants / story time.
- and closeup shots of stitching whatnot. Makes you feel like you're there with him.

Being in the show making business family for over 55yrs this is an absolute education of how to master your craft saying perfection on these house is an understatement.It’s sad to think that once you decide to retire there is no one willing work with a sweating brow or glue stained hands for such a masterpiece enjoyed every second of this video Well done Sir.

Steve, I am completely overwhelmed at the amount of detail and hard work you put on your restorations. I felt it in my stomach when you said it was a $600 job, but watching every step I can realize that is worth every penny. I’ll keep sending people to you as much as I can. Amazing work.
I used to gasp at his prices, but now I'm planning on sending him a few pairs after saving up. My feet will be blessed by his hands so to speak.
And here I thought 600 was a pretty fair price for the amount of work that went into it.
And for $600, it's now better constructed than the original shoe that was probably $600. Alden! 👍🏼

4:45 mark - Rose Anvil's gripe about Alden was simply about the Indy boots being overpriced for the type of construction/materials used. This also highlights why amazing folks like yourself are so extremely valuable. Been watching you for years now, and both your work and choice of materials are always better than from the brand itself.
the irony is that that the indy's are Steve's favourite boots. Wish Alden would step up their game, or companies like Grant Stone will eat their lunch.
Severely overpriced for the quality on the most basic Indy boot he cut apart. They certainly make some nicer shoes but for a basic boot it's quite sad. Very appropriate criticism from a dude who has cut open many boots.
Comfort sometimes is more important than build quality. Going to be hard to find a more comfortable boot than the Indy. Not arguing though. I think they are far to expensive for the material used. I've been trying to find some on the secondary market to send to Steve for a rebuild. No luck so far. It is tough finding the Indy in wide sizing.
@@amanasd26 I would love for GS to push Alden into making leather heels and structural parts. It might happen in the future - once that fire of gets hot enough. I'd expect an Indy boot contender need something more beautiful than the Indy boot to be a serious competitor and GS models are nowhere close to any of Aldens signature designs, unfortunately. The design on GS models is far from what I'd like to see, for it to make significant impact on potential Indy/Alden customers. The Indy boot is just too beautiful and GS has a long way to go to get closer to Alden in the design-apartment of shoemaking. Very long ways.
Yup, considering the materials that they used, it should be more of a $400 boot.
