People from North India now a days do visit this place.
The government of India has a policy whereby all Government officials are encouraged to do domestic tourism. This is called LTC. Leave Travel Concession. One can choose any place, yes, any place to visit ., May be Andaman Nicobar Islands or Kerala or Kashmir or Nagaland, any place in India.
Government pays the full fare for the entire family. Also, one can get ones leave encased tomeet other expenses. One can even draw advance from GPF etc.
No employee misses this facility available every two years. This LTC is in addition to the Government paying for the to snd fro fare for every employee for visiting his home town once a year. So people keep on moving around on domestic tourism.
Also, as a trainer of civil servants, I know that each and every training program, irrespective of the status, has a component called Bharat Darshan .Here, officials / officers as a part of the training travel to different parts of the country to familiarize themselves with the culture, etc.
So these places are always teeming with tourists.
