    What was the outcome of the patient #1 who did not want radiation ?
    Dr Thomas Hope once said in a conversation with Dr Mark Moyad regarding prostate cancer that "... we can hopefully contain the‏ir disease for a prolonged period of time ... cure is probably never attainable ...". If his ascertion is true, for older patients in their late 70's, why not just contain the disease with hormones and not risk damaging the rectum and bladder with radiation?

      hormones are ok if you have a prostate , and they stop the production of testosterone . which is believed to be what gets attacked by the cancer in the prostate as its a man only organ . and only men can get this cancer . so they stop our man hormone to drop the chances of cancer . if the cancer is elsewhere , youd need radiation or surgery . again ..... so im told . im no doctor . just trying to find it all out myself . its all different in different ppl . and there alot of grades to determine what treatment one needs . its alot to take in .

      Median survival in UK is mid 80s so sounds like a reasonable plan for some one in late 70s especially with comorbidities

    Frightening my PSA has gone from undetectable to 0.08 in 3 years after Robotic Surgery. I have questioned this but have been told its not high enough to worry about yet

      they class anything under 4 as normal . anything under 1 they wont flinch , so i dont find the opinion odd . im about to go through all this with a psa of 18 . which they say gives me 80 percent chance of cancer . a psa of 10 about 50 percent . then yu have to find your gleason score , to grade it . and see if its gone outside the prostate which is a stage 3 cancer . . so im told lol .

    What's Decipher score? Can any body comment

    • @GalapagosMike
      @GalapagosMike 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Decipher score comes from additional deep-level pathological testing of the removed prostate tissue or biopsy cores. It gives the patient the probability of recurrence and mortality within 5, 10, and 15 years. The test can be ordered through your Urologists or Oncologists office.

    What do they biopsy if you have had your prostate removed?

    • @durv13
      @durv13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      id say you would be scanned first to see if and where the cancer is , then get a biopsy .

    • @durv13
      @durv13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      biopsy without images are a lucky dip . theyll take 12 samples randomly , but they cant say theyre taking it from a tumour , unless they scan you 1st , see the tumours , then target them with a biopsy under imaging .
